In the Core Universe, power is not determined by the inheritance of an individual, but rather the strength and potential of the heart of their spirit. There are two types of energy in the universe, the great energies being the Eld'vald and the Myr'vald, which are considered the greatest forms of power in the universe, and those that are born with strong spirits are gifted with incredible power from it.

The Eld'vald, otherwise known as the Great Energy, is the beneficial power of Life. It is the lifeblood of the Great One, the Allmother, and is considered the binding force of the Core Universe. Mastering the power of the Eld'vald was a major step in an Ancient's Journey.

The Myr'vald, the Forbidden Energy, is the power of Death, and a highly potent force of nature. It is the lifeblood of the Other, the Allfather, and the bridge to the Eternal Realm. The Myr'vald was not an evil power, but the dangers of the primordial energy it used was far too harmful to be used by a being without spiritual purity, and as such, was restricted to only the Allfather.

Ancients are commonly known to have great spirits connected with the Eld'vald, and each with a specific gift; Cer'dun spirits were well known to have more mystical qualities, and Bor'dun spirits were known to possess elemental qualities. The highest of the Ancients, the Ar'dun, had far more powerful spirits; they could manipulate and generate energy from themselves and the universe, and as such, were considered the most dangerous beings to exist among the Ancients.

The Myr'vald was well known to be the power connected to the Titans. Titan spirits were twisted and corrupted, and as such were considered Demonic Ancients. However, as the ages progressed, they began to learn how to manipulate parts of the Eld'vald, which gave them an edge in later years of the Great Conflict. The Myr'vald can only be resisted by a being of great spiritual strength. Those who use it are merely an extension to its more insidious nature.

Mortals are commonly influenced by both the powers of the Eld'vald and the Myr'vald, often being within neutral boundaries of each power

Mortals are commonly influenced by both the powers of the Eld'vald and the Myr'vald, often being within neutral boundaries of each power. Those who are Dien'dun, otherwise known as Descendants, are able to make decisions that ultimately decide which power they control; Dien'dun spirits are strong enough to wield both for a short duration, but only few can master the abilities that they offer.
