Chapter 6

I found myself in an unexpected predicament—prohibited from delving into the VLS for former past lives. Dr. Mercer and I had embarked on a peculiar experiment, altering the lives of the deceased on the space station to observe the repercussions on our reality. However, my discomfort with manipulating someone else's decisions grew with each test.

"These experiments open a new window to change our present, to reshape the future for our benefit," Dr. Mercer insisted, her eyes glinting with ambition.

"But we must tread carefully. The slightest mistake could catapult us into an unforeseen reality," she cautioned, her tone laced with a mix of excitement and caution.

While saving Earth from an impending environmental catastrophe seemed like a noble goal, my mind kept returning to the girl who had taken her own life. The restrictions on my VLS use posed a formidable obstacle to reaching her past, but an unwavering determination to alter her fate fueled my thoughts. honestly think that it all a waste of time. I need to find a way to go back to that girls life and safe her.

"You seem to have an affair with the lovely Dr. Mercer," Amy suggested. In our past interactions, she had never been this direct. It must be the whole alternate realities that had brought us closer.

"Amy, I need a favor," I tried to keep my voice low. "I need you to take from the file lives the one of the girl you referred me to a couple of days ago."

"What are you talking about?" She seemed not to have seen it in this reality. "That's fine. I just need file number R2004BZ and bring it to your room. I need to borrow the VLS."

By this time, Charlie was already at the table, curious about why mine had been removed from my room. I had to explain everything to them—the whole DNA brainwave thing and how I was able to change the past decision of some people.

"That's crazy and unbelievable," Charlie said, with worried eyes. "I am willing to do these experiments to change this reality, but I need to save this girl first before we end up disappearing from this reality."

"But if what you are saying is true, then there is a good probability that we are not able to meet in a future where this space station doesn't exist," Amy was right. She and Charlie probably wouldn't even meet, and who knows if one of those alternate realities will end up making my parents not even meeting and myself not existing.

"I think you should save this girl and then just lie to the Doctor and say that you are not able to manipulate people anymore," Charlie suggested. I was surprised by Charlie's suggestion. He was right, and I am ready to do these experiments to change this reality.
