My phone began to ring the second time. The first time it rang, I didn't bother to check the caller's ID. I tossed around in my bed as I tried to reach out for my phone lazily

The name "Steph" popped on my screen
Stephanie... I should have known
I clicked the green icon. It was a Whatsapp video call

"Hey boo! You're still in bed?" She asked in mock surprise as she applied lip gloss to her lips. Stephanie was already dressed in the school uniform.

Trust Stephanie to be so serious about school. If there was anything she could do to ensure school go on and on without any holidays, she will gladly oblige

"Good morning to you too" I stated with a smirk on my face. Stephanie response was just a roll of her eyes

"And yeah, I'm still in bed. This is just_"

I glanced at the digital wall clock above my bed

" _This is just 3:58 am and you're already dressed for school? Why am I even surprised? When_"

" Yen yen yen yen. What time am I supposed to prepare for school? 9am? 11am?"
She asked as she adjusted the knotted tie beneath the collar of her shirt

" That's not what I'm _"

"Just admit you're lazy abeg. You and Vincent. I dialed Vincent's number before yours but he wasn't picking up. Guess he's still sleeping_
Gosh, I don't know how I ended up with lazy friends as the both of you"

She lamtented as she she squeezed her face in mock disgust

My best friend can be dramatic at times

Most times

I decided to get on her nerves a little bit

"You're already prepared for school right? Wetin you still dey find for house? Dey go school naw"

The look on Stephanie's face made me break into a fit of laughter
Like I swear she could murder me if I was within her reach

"Whatever. So how do I look?"
She asked as she tried all her best to look cute into the phone. Her expression was now replaced by her signature smile

"Ermm... You look handsome bro!" I commented with a thumbs up

And yes! My hubby is "getting on her nerves". It kind of gives me joy

Her reaction was a loud long hiss

I had forgotten she's a snake

"Gotta go Steph. Want to go and  prepare for school. Bye"

"You think I don't know you want to go back to sleep_"

I ended the call and dropped my phone on my bed. Stephanie is just obsessed with school anyhow

My phone suddenly made a sound to notify me of a Whatsapp message. I opened it to see Stephanie's message

How do you feel; now that you hanged up the call on someone you can't breath without? Shaa don't let me get to school before you"

I grudgingly made up from my bed to the bathroom to brush my teeth
School resumes today. My classmates had been making a fuss of the whole thing since yesterday. Left to me, I'll prefer to just stay at home and receive online lectures if I had my way

But then, I wouldn't get to know golden souls like Vincent and Stephanie if I wasn't a student of Winston High School.

Yeah, They are my best friends. I became friends with Vincent on the second week we resumed as JSS1 students.
