Imagine Raya being close to Tom Riddle. Raya and him were inseparable. He loved her but unfortunately she died.

She was hit by the killing curse, dying instantaneously.

This made Tom peruse his idea of Horcruxes and become a monster. He was so focused on  avenging Raya that he lost himself. He was a monster.

He killed because it was fun, making him the most powerful wizard that he could be.

One thing that Tom didn't know was that Dumbledore had a secret. He managed to reverse the curse, Raya being alive again.

Skip time to the Battle of Hogwarts. Voldemort had defeated Harry. There was one moment of doubt in his mind. He saw Raya, standing next to George Weasley. Looking as young as she was when she died.

That doubt was gone in an instant as soon as he saw how she didn't see Tom Riddle, she saw a monster.
