A New Start

Chapter 8

Lucas's POV
What do you mean he's in the hospital!?" Venus yelled at the person on the other end of the line
I sit up and look at Venus as she tears up, I feel my heart beat fast. I relaxed as I saw Jillian walk up.
"Babe get in the car."
She looks confused but gets the carrier and climbs in.
"We have to go to the hospital." I say to Jillian but Venus starts crying more.
She stares at me and looks at Venus. Finn was in the driver seat, head in the wheel, I wasn't even sure if he was conscious. She looked back at me, "What happened?"
"Dylan was hit by a car while he was going for a run. They say his foot was broken and he has a few scratches but he should be fine." I explain to her.
Venus was in tears, sobbing was more like it. Jillian covered her mouth in shock, and she looked at me worridly.
"We sh-should've made h-him come wi-with us...!" Venus sobbed more.
Jillian grabbed Venus's hand and calmed her as Finn drove quite quickly to the hospital. When we arrived we went straight to Dylan's room. He looked at us when we got there, and Venus hugged him gently. I sneaked a glance at Finn, he didn't look happy, but I knew he was sympathetic
"I'm so sorry Dylan!" Venus says.
"Venus, this wasn't your fault, at all. Don't worry, I'll be ok." Dylan said
"You sure?" She asks.
"Positive," He says weakly.
"If you say so." Venus says walking back over to Finn pecking his lips.
I see Jillian sitting down in a chair, looking a bit pale, actually...
"Baby you ok?" I ask her gently.
She shakes her head and puts her head I her hands. Dylan calls me over and soon enough I was distracted by everything else.
I hear a whimper and I see a blur run to the bathroom.
Venus gasps, and I suddenly feel bad.
"I'll go after her." Venus says.
I sit down and sigh, and Dylan looks at me. "What?" I look at him rudely.
"You called her baby?" He says.
I blush, realizing he didn't know. "Hah, um, she's my girlfriend now..."
"Glad you made that move. So Finn that kiss. On the lips?" He asks excitedly.
I smile, "Yea, they're dating too." I hear the door open and see Venus walk in.
"She needs a change of clothes and we need to get Faith home." She says out of breath.
I sigh, I should have made her go to the bathroom first, but I didn't. To late now.
"It's not your fault she puked her guts out because she was feeling sick," she says.
I cringe, "Shit, well let's go."
Finn hops up.
"Bye Dylan. We are gonna go pick the dogs up ok?"
Dylan nods, he was gonna be checked out tomorrow. Venus comes back with a pale looking Jillian. I wonder what had made her sick... I let Venus help Jillian out to the car, and I walk with Finn.Venus grabs a bucket that we always leave in the car for this reason. She puts a plastic bag and paper towels in the bottom.They sit in the back, Venus wouldn't budge. So I sat with Finn. I wanted to hug her, but I decided not too. Instead, I texted Dylan. Venus rubbed Jillian's back.I turned around, and saw Jillian holding Faith, but she looked bad. I looked at Venus sadly. Venus sighed.
I texted her, 'What do u think happend'
She texted back. She hasn't had food since last night. They both got out when we got to Dylan's place. Jillian says in the car, as everyone gets out to get the pups. We came back with a little Lucifer and Blue.Jillian smile a tiny bit and takes Blue, she sure lives that dog. We all smile. After the pups settle, we take off, and decide to stay at Venus and Jillian's place to wait for Dylan. Since they have limited beds some of us were gonna have to cuddle. I didn't mind, I just hope I don't get thrown up on. I saw the girls smile and laugh at how the puppies reacted to Faith. They all got along. Lucifer actually started to bark at Faith. Trying to he her to play.
Jillian was finally regaining her color when we reached their house. When we got to the house we got out and Venus carried Lucifer and Jilli carried Blue. Finn we stuck with the carrier as I walked with Faith. I heard Jillian laugh about a comment Venus made. They both smiled and opened the door. There house was pretty big but it was HUGE. They just had a BIG kitchen and a BIG living room. Jillian went straight to the couch and lied down, while Venus and Finn went to the kitchen to make dinner. I went to the couch. I sat on the edge of the couch where Jillian was laying
"You ok baby?"
"I don't feel good." She groaned.
I nod and go to get the bucket.
When I come from the car, Venus is standing in the hallway. She's leaning up against the wall panting and staring at the kitchen door,
I stare at her in confusion, "What is it?"
"There's something outside. It banged on the door."
I suddenly was scared, what/who in the world would mess with us at this time? I hastily run in the living room and give jillian her becketI see Finn looking at the "thing" outside." I tapped hIs shoulder and he jumped, then I called Venus, I decide Jillian would probably rather handle other issues...
Venus came into the room.
"What do you see, Finn?" I asked him.
"I see this dude dressed in a Bigfoot costume."
"Sure it's a costume?" I say, why would an idiot do that?
"Do you believe in Sasquatch?!" He asks.
I blush, "Well, yea...?"
"Ok then let's go out there and scare the thing off." He says starting to walk outside as the thing walks towards us.
I hesitate, I've heard plenty of stories of Bigfoot, but I followed. I can't look like a baby on front them. The thing started to talk.
"Um hey sorry to scare y'all but I'm lost and I thought you could help me." The person said as they took the mask off.
I glared at him, and Venus had to keep me from yelling at him, and Finn reasoned with the guy. Finn told him where he was and the dude nodded as Finn helped. I sighed and went inside, and sat at the kitchen table. The dude walked by our house and left.
"He was just lost and didn't think before knocking."
I roll my eyes but stay quiet. I wait for them to finish cooking
They finish and put it on the table.I stare hungrily until I notice a fourth plate, an remember Jillian.
"Jills Dinners ready." Venus says to Jillian through the kitchen door,
She looked like she might have just been asleep, but I get up and hug her.
I see the other couple smile. I pull her to the table and we start eating, although Jillian doesn't eat much. Venus says and puts her food in a Tupperware after we all finish eating. We decide to watch a movie by we can't decide on one.
"Let's watch finding nemo!" Venus says.
"I want to watch the Hangover!" I say. I loved that movie.
"Watcha thinking Jills?" I ask her.
She shrugged, "I don't care, ask Finn." If I was her, Id be grumpy too.
Venus nods and gets up and walks to her bedroom. I sit shift closer to Jillian, and fiddle with her fingers. I hear my phone buzz. It was a text from Finn saying Venus is tired so she is gonna take a nap with her 2 babies. Finn and Lucifer. I smile and laugh, and show Jillian the message. She smiles and she whispers.
"Que the moaning." She giggles.
I laugh, and say, "You know me so well."
She giggles and points to Venus's room.
I smile and go make some popcorn, and let her pick the movie. We lay on the couch and watch the movie Jello picked out. Turns out she picked the Hangover, and we tried not to laugh loudly.
After the movie was over I noticed Jillian was asleep so I went to go lay her down in her bed. I laid her down and pecked her forehead.
"Babe don't leave me. Please." She said clinging onto me.
I nodded.
"Ok let me go check on Venus and Finn, ok?"
She nodded as I walked to the other room to check on them. On my way back to her bedroom I picked up Faith.
Blue follows panting, he was cute. I walked quietly back to Jillian's room.
I set Faith down on the bed and she climbs to the top of the head rest thingy. I then assist Blue up.
Blue sniffs all over Jillian's face and settles on her stomach, he was getting big, he couldn't do that in the future.
I sighed and moved Blue because I was worried
"My puppy..." Jillian groaned.
"Baby he's right here." I say as he positions him self in between us.
She smiles sleepily, and pats Blue's head. I smile at the sight of that.
I slowly fall asleep with my arms around Jillian's waist.
When I wake up, Blue was curled up under my neck, and Jillian was asleep next to me.
I slowly get up pecking Jillian's cheek. I then walk into the living room seeing Finn and Venus.
"Y'all want Starbucks? Because I need Starbucks."
Venus nods. I never knew she had glasses.
I try and fix my hair, it was really messed up. I know Jillian didn't care much for coffee, but he loves their cake pops.
I drove to Starbucks and got 2 Carmel frappe for Venus and Finn, a hot coffee for me and some cake pops for Jillian.
I know she'll be happy when she gets up
I get home and hand Venus and Finn their coffee and then I walk back into Jillian's room to check on her. She was still asleep so I went back to the kitchen and set the cake pops in the microwave. I left a note on the counter saying their was a surprise for JooBoo in the microwave.
I sit and watch tv with Finn an Venus, I didn't like being a third wheel. I heard clicks and footsteps come down the hallway.
I watch as a sleepy Jillian comes walking down the hallway. She plopped down in my lap and I smiled.
She noticed everyone had Starbucks, and frowned.
I whisper.
"It's in the microwave baby."
She smiles, and gets up and goes to the kitchen. I hear her awe, and the microwave open. She comes back munching on a pop, holding the note.
"Thanks, Loo!"
I smile.
Venus looks confused, she didn't know about our nicknames.
"We have nicknames she's JooBoo and I'm Loo."
Jillian nods, and Venus says, "That's. So. Cute!"
I peck Jillian's cheek as she sits back down.
She blushes, but starts eating another cake pop. She let's me try one.
"Damn, baby these are good!" I exclaimed
"I know right!?" She said, glad that I liked them. "Now, when you go again, you can get some for yourself!"
I laughed.
"So gang what are we gonna do today?" Venus asked.
I laughed, then shrugged. Jillian suddenly got jittery.
"Babe what's wrong?" I say.
"I have an idea!! We can go get Dylan and go back to the beach and go out to eat and other stuff!!" She says quickly.
I laugh.
"Ok what about the dogs though baby? Is it a dog beach?"
She nods, "Blue loves the beach!"
"Ok we can go."
Jillian jumps up and down, she loves the beach.
I laugh even more when Venus starts jumping, too.
They twirl on circles, and race around the house.
"Cmon y'all let's get showered and put clothes on then go! Get to it cmon!"
Jillian and Venus, actin like little kids, stick their tongues out, but go get ready.
I see Venus braiding Jillian's hair. Then they put their clothes on top of their bathing suits. Jillian helps Venus with makeup. I see Finn walk into the bedroom.
"Hello beautiful." He says as he kisses Venus's cheek after Jillian's done with her make up.
Venus smiles and hugs him, and Jillian admired her work.
"Easy! Don't ruin it!" She yells at him in a joking way.
Jillian laughs and goes into the bathroom. I smile and go get ready.After a while we all pile I the car and go get Dylan. I see Venus grab this baby carrying device that goes on your chest that holds a baby. Or in this case Lucifer or Faith. I laugh and Jillian picks Blue up in her lap In the car. Venus and Finn sat in the back. Blue lays on the floor between us. We drive to the hospital. Jillian decided to check him out as we went to get him. We just left the Venus with the dogs and Faith in the car. We all got back in the car but Jillian didn't have a seat.
"I can pull up the seats in the back back." Venus says since it's her car.
Jillian sighs but nods. Venus pulls up a chair in the back. Dylan insists he sits back their because he didn't want to split the couple up.Jillian says it's fine, he deserves a chair anyways. We help him into the back of the jeep. Jillian buckles up, her head to us, and feet dangling off the jeep. Venus sighs as we drive.
"What!?" I say after a few minutes.
"It's just I forgot a leash for Faith."
Jillian pipes up, practically screaming from the rear, "I have an extra! We can tighten it up and us it for her!"
"Ok good I thought I was gonna have to keep her in the pouch all day."
Jillian smiles, her hair blowing around. I smile at her, and she winks stupidly, which makes me laugh. We pull up to the place. I help Jillian out of her seat, and she smoothed her hair. I smile at her.
We walk into the building, drop off our stuff, and walk out to the beach. Once we get out there I smile once again. Venus suddenly stops and looks out over the water. I look at what she was looking at. The sunset was just setting on the water. Finn came beside her and help her hand. I smiled at them. He kissed the cheek and I turned and went to help Jillian and Blue with the sand castle. Blue just dug up sand and chewed on the shovel, but it was cute. I saw Finn and Venus sit down in the sand as Lucifer sits beside them. Dylan was looking for shells in the waves. I sighed and smiled. Venus yelled for Dylan. He walked over to her and Finn and sat down. They talked about the plans for tonight, but I was distracted, Jillian kept getting knocked over by waves, and after her dream I wasn't risking anything. We decided that we were going out to dinner and Dylan's "girlfriend" can come.
I didn't like her, she was a bitch. She got whatever she wanted, but if that's what he likes, whatever. I know how the girls feel about her but I couldn't just let Dylan be lonely. So I went with it. I heard someone start coughing. I looked in the direction of the cough. It was Venus, I looked at her strangely.
She looked at us like it's time to go get ready. I pulled jillian up out of the water, and she pouted, but got Blue and followed. I could tell Venus was alittle upset about Veronica. Dylan's wanna be girlfriend. I saw Venus take Jillian over to the side and talk I her about something. Jillian handed me Blue. I could tell Jillian was a little happier.I wondered what they talked about, but I didn't want to be nosey. They smiles and walked back over.I looked at her curiously, and she mouthed, 'later'. We walked to the beach house. When I walked in the door, everyone had already moved off to get ready, accept Jillian behind me.
I just changed in the living room. Luckily I didn't go in the water so I already hand underwear on.Jillian laughed, and dug through her bag, looking for her phone. I got dressed. Jillian wore a white Lacey shirt, and black dressy jeans. I wore a white polo shirt, and dark blue jeans. Venus came out wearing a black tanktop with regular jeans and heels. Finn followed her wearing a black polo with jeans and converse. Dylan walked out wearing a button down blue shirt and jeans. He was also on the phone.
"Seriously babe? How far away? Ok. We'll wait. Yea THEY invited us for dinner. Ok. Bye," He said into the phone.
Jillian looked away awkwardly, and Venus stared at her phone I silence.
We wait for an hour until she finally shows up. Venus and Finn had gone out on the balcony, probably kissing, while Jillian watched spongebob. I went to get them but surprisingly they were talking about adult stuff! Like getting their own house. I just told them and left quickly. We had to take two cars this time, so Dylan and Veronica went in hers. We got into Venus's car. She drove and Finn sat up front with her.Finn and I talked on and on about what we could do at the beach tomorrow, but the girls were in their own conversation. We arrived at the restaurant which was really nice for what Veronica was wearing. We all kinda decided we didn't like her, but we let Dylan have the benefit of the doubt. We all took our seats, and ordered out drinks. They brought us our drinks and they literally screwed up Venus's drink. They brought her an alcoholic drink, which we didn't even know was called Venus smelled the drink and immediately pushed it away. Although we weren't exactly underage, none of us were keen to the taste of alcohol. We hated it but next thing we notice is Veronica ordering all the alcoholic drinks. Jillian covered her mouth, but played it off as a yawn. Venus got up and quickly walked to the bathroom.
I whispered to Jillian, "Go see what she's doing, don't make it obvious."
"I'm gonna go check on her to make sure she isn't sick." Jillian says.
I nod, and watch as Veronica downs her drink. How did Dylan end up with her?
She needs help! Good lord they better call an Uber because she's gonna be drunk as fuck. Jillian comes back with a teary eyes Venus, and Finn wrapped his arms around her. I saw Jillian pull out her phone, a second later, I got a text. I read it and tried to hide my gasp.
'Her dad was like this, he would always drink, and act like a bitch. Just brought back painful memories.'
I text back ok.
I look up at Venus, who had calmed herself, but was glaring, quite obviously, at Veronica. I kicked her leg softly and she cut it out. Jillian felt the kick and laughed silently. I smiled and we all watched as Veronica started on another drink. I sighed softly as we ordered our food. When it got to Veronica she couldn't order straight. Dylan wants pleased, but acted like he was used to it. We all ate silently, and it soon changed into a quiet game of footsies with Jillian and Venus. After we ate we said our goodbyes and I saw Venus slip $20 in his hand.
"Get an Uber home, please." She said the Dylan.
Dylan huffed away, practically dragging Veronica. They called an Uber and we left. I the ride back to our place, we all ranted about Veronica. Venus stayed quiet. When we got back Venus disappeared into her room, and Finn followed. I felt bad for her. But if anyone could cheer her up, it'd be Finn. Finn came back out.He had a frown on his face. I gave him a what's wrong look.
"She can't stop thinking about her 'family'." He mocked.
I knew he didn't like Venus's so called family.
"Well go help her! You can do it, we can't, she loves you more." I exclaimed.
Finn smiles, and turns back around and shuts the door. I look over though to see Jillian had gone somewhere else. I go to look for her. I find her in the kitchen, looking through the fridge. I wrap my arms around her waist.
"Whatcha looking for baby?"
She giggles and looks up at me, "A snack, Veronica kinda made me lose appetite back there me.
I smile and peck her cheek.
"Why don't you like her?" She asked suddenly.
"She's bratty. You obviously could tell she wasn't happy to see us when Dylan was on the phone with her."
She nodded, agreeing. Then pulled out an apple. I released my grip and walked to the living room. I heard Jillian follow, but she stopped, thinking or listening, whatever she does.
"Babe?" I ask her.
She hummed, thinking, then she stared at me curiously.
"Baby what?"
"I don't think Veronica is who she says she is..."
"What do you mean?" I ask curiously.
"Why would a person as young as her, be able to drown that many drinks?!"
I shrug then think for a second.
Then Jillian laughs, she's acting a bit strange.
"Babe what's wrong?"
"What Venus told me earlier, when we were leaving the beach."
"What was that baby? Why are you acting so weird?"
"I'm not. It's just, Venus told me that he probably hit up with a hooker, and it was hilarious. It wa a true."
"Oh." I laugh too alittle.
I hear Venus laugh from the other room, and Finn talk other helpfully.
Next thing I know I see Venus being carried by Finn into the living room.
Jillian laughs and turns on the tv
"Ven tell them what you told me." Finn says.
Venus blushes, but sits down and tell us.
"Well there is this new movie coming out tomorrow and I was thinking we could go to the movie. Then afterwards we could go back to the beach or pool and relax." She said shyly.
"Why not!?" Jillian said, and Venus nods.
"Yay! What are we gonna do tonight?" I say though.
We all shrugg, was already a bit late. But only Jillian looked at all tired. We all decide that we should watch a movie. We let Venus watch her Nemo. She was happy.Jillian kept yawning and decided to go to bed. After about 45 minutes of the movie Venus was being carried out by Finn. I laughed as the movie ended and I was by myself. I decide to go lay down with Jills. When I walk into the room, the lights are off, and I'm pretty sure he's asleep. I lay beside Jills. I pull her in my arms, and Blue waddles into the room. I pull Jills closer to me so Blue has a place to lay. He jumps a couple times trying to get up. He finally gets up, and settles down. I feel Jillian's hand reach over and pet him.
I smile at them.Then she reaches up and puts her hand on my shoulder.
I smile even more. We slowly begin to fall asleep.
