A New Start

Chapter 11

Lucas's POV
When we woke up this morning, we had all decided to go to breakfast and shopping this morning. Jillian said she didn't feel good, so she stayed. She told me to go ahead with everyone else. I argued at first but then decided to go. Venus came rushing out to the car dressed in some kind of band merch. Finn laughed and ran after her wearing a tshirt snd some jeans as usual. They say in the front and I say alone in the back.
"Um Luke? Where do you want to go first?" Venus asks trying to be polite.
I shrugg, "I don't care."
"You can think of something. I know you can!"
"Ok. How about Waffle House?"
"Sure."
We turn left onto the main road. The two lovebirds upfront keep joking around.
Ince we got their we went inside. We sat down at a table and I felt my phone buzz. I picked it up. I typed my passcode and saw that it was a text from Jillian.
Jilleh-
Hey how's it going?
I smiled and texted back,
It's good, a bit boring though. How are you?
I'm ok
Good, feeling better?
Yea
Good, I'll see ya later, yea? Love you<3! Ttyl!
K baby
It was a bit strange. Jillian usually has more to say. Maybe it's just that she's ill? I ordered my food as they brought my drink. I watched as the people behind the counter bustled around. Finn and Venus were already deep in conversation.
"So Luke, where do you want to go shopping?
"Um, anywheres fine." I say.
"Ok..."
"I don't really know any places." I sigh.
"Ok then we will show you around!"
I laugh, "Sure, let do that!"
I watch the waiter arrive with the food. She passes the food out and then leaves. I dig in. What can I say, I love food! They laugh and eat their food. After we finish, we all climb back into the jeep.
"Finn go to the mall!"
Finn turned off the interstate and went down this road that I don't even know. We pull up to the mall. We get out and Venus drags us into a girly store. She giggles and tells Finn to take me to some store. We walk and talk about Dylan and Jillian's outburst in that parking lot. A few hours later Finn gets a text from Venus saying that she's done shopping. Well we were to so we met up at the mall. I guess Venus shopped in the store because she met up with us later with ALOT of bags. I laughed at her then I felt my phone buzz again.
It was Jilleh.
Jilleh-
Hey, um, when are you gonna be home?
Uhh idk
Well, I need you guys here soon.
Ok
Thanks, and make sure you don't buy anything breakable.
Umm ok....?
Don't worry, see ya!
Ok
I sighed and Venus looked at me.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, just Jillian."
They both nodded at me. We stopped for lunch at a small restaurant. It was called Alfie's. Not known very well but it was AMAZING. This time I wasn't the third wheel. So I was in a great mood as we drove home. I had decided to but Jillian a gift. We pulled of into this store.
"Why are we here?" I asked.
"We need some stuff." Finn responded,
I laughed, "Like?"
Venus blushes.
"Just stuff."
I shut my mouth and wait in the jeep for them. Then this girl walks past, then turns back around to look at me. The girl keeps looking at me like she knew me or something.
"May I help you?" I ask a bit annoyed.
"Oh no." She said walking off to her car.
I got out and followed her, "Let me remind you that you came up to me?"
"I'm so sorry. You just seemed familiar..." She said softly.
"Who?" I asked gently.
"My brother."
"Um, what's your name?"
"Aspen...."
"Well, Aspen, I don't have a sister named that, so..."
She nods and gets in her car.
"Sorry... I apologize for disrupting you..." She said sympathetically.
"It's ok, don't worry about it." I wanted to ask her what had happened, but it would be rude.
She nods and droves off. I see Venus and Finn walk put with a few bags.
"Cmon lets go ."
I nod and get back in. They start the car. On the way there Venus asks me a question.
"Hey Luke."
"Yea?"
"I have a question for you?"
"Shoot." I say looking at her
"Who was that girl?"
"Uh, the girl in the car?"
Venus nods and motions for you to continue.
"She's just a girl I met"
"Ok..." She says.
"Don't worry about her." I wave it off and look at the passing trees.
She nods as we pull up to the place. I get out and help with the bags.
"Thanks!"
I nod and Finn opens the door. We all walk inside. All the lights are off, I call out, "Jillian?"
I don't hear anything. I start to he worried when all the lights come on and Jillian screams, "SURPRISE!!"
We all jump, but the funniest was Venus jumped Ito Finns arms... It was hilarious! Jillian falls to the floor in a fit of laughter, and I look around the living room.
"You scared us!" Venus yells.
Jillian can't even answer. I pick up a balloon and throw it at Venus. She gives me a sour look like she's upset.
Jillian finally speaks. "Don't look like that, Ven! It's a party! Have fun!"
"Ok." Venus says very suspiciously.
I smile and go to the snack table she set up. Venus sits on the couch and watches us. Jillian comes over to me and says, "Hey, um Venus texted me sayin that you were with another girl?"
"Oh she just thought I was her brother but she wasn't my sister.
"Really?" She asked. I could tell she was a bit hurt.
"Baby it wasn't bad I promise."
She smiles and hugs me. I kissed her lips softly but immediately pulls away.
"Sorry baby."
She blushes but kisses me back. Our first real kiss. We both smiled widely.
"If you two are done, I'd like to know what games are to be played at this party." Finn called, and Venus smacked his arm.
"Let them enjoy their moment! Or you aren't getting your surprise tonight!" Venus threatened. Jillian wiggled her eyebrows at her and laughed. Venus nods seriously. Jillian and Luke gag. Jillian goes into another laughing fit and brings me to the floor with her.
"Hey! We were gonna have some fun until he had to open his mouth! YALL got lucky."
"We won't intervene, don't worry." I said laughing.
"Well too bad."
I shake jillian. "Pull yourself together and tell me what games were playing. Or I'll tickle you!"
She immediately sat up.
She takes a breath, "ok, so, there's twister, monopoly, scrabble, balloon popping games, puzzles, trivia, truth or dare, two truths and a lie, clue, and killer."
"LETS PLAY TRUTH OR DARE!"
Everyone agrees, and we sit around the living room.
"Who first?" Venus asked.
Finn shouts, "Me!! Me! Um, Venus, truth or dare?"
"I choose dare." She says bravely.
"Ok. I dare you to drink a creation of my own!" He says evilly.
"Darn it!"
We laugh and follow them to the kitchen. She sits on the counter and waits. Jillian helps him make it, even though Venus complained. Venus waited patiently.
"What's in it?" I asked stupidly.
Jillian turns around holding the glass of brown liquid. "It's a combination of milk, soy sauce, orange juice, and peanut butter."
"Ughh this is why I hate dares." Venus says sadly taking the drink.
"You chose it, babe." Finn said smiling.
"Oh I'm gonna get you later honey." She says devilish.
Jillian blushes, while Venus takes a sip. She pinches her nose drinking it all. I stare at her with my mouth open.
"What?"
"How, how did you drink all that?"
"Years of practice."
I nod and Finn opens the door. We all walk inside. I nod and and we all go back to the living room. Venus sits down.
"Jillian, truth or dare?"
Jillian sighs. "Uh, dare?"
"I dare you to sit on Lucas's lap for the rest of the game
Jillian blushes, and I pull her over and laugh.
I tell her it'll be ok.
She lays her was on my shoulder and says, "Finn, truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"How much do you love Venus?" She asked.
"A lot. She is my world."
Jillian awes, while Venus asks me. "Truth or dare?"
"Dare."
"I dare you to lick the bottom of Venus's foot..."
I make such a gross face, Jillian turns around.
"Go on." Finn taunts.
"Why don't you?" I tease.
Finn licks the bottom of Venus's foot. We cringe and fall on our backs and hide from the horrible site.
"They are clean. She took a shower this morning"
"Still!" Jillian groans.
"Whatever!" Finn says grumpy.
"Dude, calm down. Who's next?" I say.
"Me." Venus says wiping her foot off.
Finn calls, "Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Do you want to kiss me?" He said fake frowning.
"Yes baby." She says smiling and kissing his lips.
Jillian claps. I feel my phone start to buzz in my pocket and Jillian jumps. Venus and Finn jump.
"Calm down everyone, someone's calling me."
Venus and Finn calm down. It's my sister. I gasp and cover my mouth. I answer it.
"Hello?"
I hear a sniff, "Lucas, I know we've had bad times, but, moms in the hospital..."
"Oh umm ok... What happened?" I asked worriedly.
"She collapsed at home, and she won't wake up..." Mia starts to sob.
I start to tear up.
"Ok Mia what hospital? I'll be there soon."
She gives me the address, and by now I'm on tears. I run to the door. I practically almost dropped Jillian if we weren't so close to the couch. I didn't explain why I was leaving. She covered her head and screamed, but I shut the door and ran to my car. I got in the car and drove.
Venus's POV
Did he just drop her?! Oh my god! I rushed over to Jillian's side and made sure she was ok. By now she was crying, I know she doesn't like being tossed around like that.
"Shh Jills it's ok... He didn't mean to... He was just in shock."
"Why did I do?" She whimpered
"His sister called. You heard him say Mia right? Shh it's ok."
She just sat beside me, sniffing, until Luke finally called me back.
"What do you want?!" I growl.
"What'd I do?" He asked rudely.
"You dropped Jillian, your girlfriend, on the ground."
"I didn't mean to. Look my mum is in the hospital, and you think I'm think about Jillian?" Uh oh, Jiillian heard that.
"I swear to god Luke! When you get home we are over! I get she's your mom but that's not how you treat your girlfriend!" Jillian yelled through the the phone.
She went upstairs and slammed the door. I know for a fact she doesn't mess around with relationships, but they can't be over. "Lucas, well talk when you get home, but right now, how is your mother?"
"She's fine. She just fell and hit her head and now she's in a coma." He sAid sadly.
"Look Luke she isn't gonna break up with you. You were worried about your mom. You didn't realise you hurt her. Which you really didn't she was just scared." I explained
I heard Luke sniff, "I know please cheer her up. I won't be home until early on the morning."
"Ok. I swear I will do that."
"Thank you, I have to go now, the doctors coming, bye."
"Bye."
I hung up and look at Finn. I sigh.
"Finn. I don't know what I am going to do."
He sighs, "The irony is, she threw this party to make US happy, but now we need to make her happy."
"Yea."
"What should we do to help her?"
"Let's get some Starbucks cake pops and blue."
"Good idea." I nod
"Ok."
I grab the keys and Finn follows.
"Let's go"
We get I the jeep and head to Starbucks. Once we get there we order and then get our food then go home. Finn try's to keep everything warm or cold. When we get home I put a bow on Blue. Finn carries her tea and cake pops- we got a few extra for her, and two for Lucas- and I carry the dressed up puppy. Lucifer follows us because he wanted know where his bud is going. I also got Faith and brought her, too. I knock on her door gently.
"Wh-what?" A crying Jillian asked.
"Please open the door." I say.
"Wh-why?"
"Because we have a surprise and can't actually open the door."
She sighs, and the lock clicks and te door opens. Her eys were red and her cheeks were tear stained. I put Faith in her arms.
"She was looking for you."
She smiles softly, and hands her back and takes Blue. "You know I'm a dog person."
"Hey ok I guess the kitten is mine now." I chuckle and hand her the cake pops.
"Thank you, Venus. But I don't want to be happy right now."
"We want you happy. So you be happy or we throw you in the pool."
"I'll drown myself." She warned.
"Ugh fine."
Jillian takes Blue and sits on the floor by the wall, and we come in and sit on her bed.
"Please be happy."
She shrugs he shoulder and looks at me. "How can I when he's not?"
"Oh ok..."
"Why'd he say that?" She fixes Blues bow.
"He didn't mean to."
"But he did. Why would he say it of he didn't mean it?"
"It slipped. His mom is in the hospital in a freaking coma!"
Jillian speaks so quietly I hardly hear her, "Don't yell at me. Please, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to, Dad. Please..."
I gasp.
"Jillian I didn't mean to yell... I'm sorry."
She stares at the floor and sniffs.
"Finn let's leave her alone ok... We will try again in an hour or 2...."
I get up and set everything down I her bed and leave quickly. Once I get to my room I hide in my hiding spot. Finn sits a few feet and  looks at me. I silently cry. Finn huddles close to me and puts his arms around me.
"Why'd I have to yell?" I say with tears rolling down my face.
"It happens, baby. I would have done that to."
I keep crying until I eventually fall asleep. I'm woken up by a loud thump and a strong of bad words. I jump up and Finn is no where to be seen in my room. I open the door to hear two voices whispering. I lay back down. The voices get louder and I can hear what they are saying. I act like I'm asleep when they peek into my room.
"Do you think she's awake?" A New Zealand accent whispered.
"Venus get up I know you're faking." Finn says quietly.
I sigh and sit up.
"Hey cutie." Finn says smiling softly.
"Hi." I mumble.
"You wanna surprise jello?"
"With what?" I look at the two strange boys.
"We are still thinking about that."
I roll my eyes and stand up. "Did Finn tell you what happened?"
Lucas nods.
"I didn't mean too..." I say.
"It's ok Ven."
They hug me and go to the kitchen to talk. I nod and follow. We flip on the light and I pick up Faith. I sit on the counter.
"So Luke, how's your mom?" I ask.
"She's ok..."
I could tell he'd been crying. His mom and him aren't close, but seeing her in the hospital must have been horrible. Finn patted his back.
"Besides me," he changes the subject, "how's Jillian?"
"She's fine."
"Really?" He asks
"She's just upset."
He nods, "I need to help her, but she won't answer."
I nod and silently agree.
"I hope she's not trying anything." Lucas says sitting on the floor.
I jump up.
Finn obviously wasn't listening, "What?"
"She might be trying to self harm..."
Luke looks up with tears in his eyes, "She wouldn't..."
"I hope not."
Luke gets up and goes upstairs. I follow and hear him knowing on the door.
"Jill. Can I come in?"
There was no answer. I told the boys to break the door down.They look at me like I was crazy.
"Is there a key?"
"Idk. Open the door."
Finn ran downstairs to get the key while Luke kept knocking.
"Jillian please open the door!" I pleaded.
I heard a bump, but nothing else. Once Finn got back upstairs. I grab the key and unlock the door. The door swings open. It was pitch black. "Jillian, where are you?" Luke asks beside me.
She didn't answer.
"Please be ok." Luke whispered. I couldn't help it, "Jillian, answer me!"
I try to turn on the lights but they wouldn't work.
"Why won't they work?" I said, now a bit scared.
Maybe Jillian finally lost it. I couldn't help bit laugh at myself with that comment. I start crying feeling like I lost my best friend. I feel a hand grab my hand, and at first I thought it was Finn.
"Jillian please honey where are you?"
The hand squeezed mine and I gasped.
"Jillian? Is that you?"
The hand started shaking, but I knew it was her. I kneeled down to her ad hugged her.
"Shh jells it's ok... I gotcha..."
"You found her?" Lucas was crying
"Yes..."
"Is she ok?"
"Idk... Let's get her out of the room...."
Luke follows my voice, and pick jillian up
"Thank you Luke."
He doesn't answer but I hear him whispering to her. Finn comes over to me and helps me up. I cling onto my boyfriend. We get up and follow to where Lule is in the living room. I was nervous, jillian should have said something.
"Jells?"
"In here." Luke calls.
I walk to the sound. I see them on the floor, with Luke's back to us
"Is she ok?"
"Come see." He says not turning around. I look at Finn.
I walk around him gently. I see Luke holding her hand. But then I see everything else.
"Jillian? What happened?"
"She as throwing stuff around and when she did she broke her lamps. Since her ceiling light blew out, the lights were her only source of light. This is why the lights were out. She stepped on the broken glass on the floor and now she's bleed a lot. So she needs to get to the hospital soon..."
I freaked out and nodded rapidly and opened the door for Luke who was holding Jillian. I ran to the Jeep and started it. Lucas put Jillian in the car after putting paper towels on the floor and some gauze around her foot. We rushed to the hospital. We got there and we checked Jillian in and they took her back to a room with all of us. They checked her foot out and decided that she might need surgery to get the glass out of the bottom of her foot. They forced the three of us out of the room.
