A New Start

Chapter 9

Jillian opened her eyes and yawned. She looked at Lucas next to her and wiggled out of his grip. She went down stairs as Venus sat down on the couch. They put their heads together and thought about the rest of that day. They thought and thought and thought. Suddenly, Jillian jumped up and hopped around in circles, saying "I know! I know! I know!"
"Yes?" Venus asked her.
"We should have a story day, like, tell everyone about our life, goals, past...?" She ranted with her Australian accent.
"Ok that's sounds good!" Venus says excitedly.
Jillian nods, calming down, and remembering her painful past.
Venus sat there, too, thinking about how she was gonna explain it. Just at that moment, Finn came sleepily into the living room.
"Hey babe you want coffee?" Venus asks Finn.
He nods, and follows her into the kitchen. She makes some coffee and a bagel. Venus brings a bagel to Jillian in the den, but she wasn't there. Venus sighs and sets it down on the table on a napkin. Venus called to Finn quietly. He came back in and sat down with a cup of coffee. They sit down on the couch, talking about Veronica, but Venus wondered where Jillian had gone to.
"Umm I'm going to check on Jillian and Luke." Venus said.
She sets her cup down and walks up the stairs. She knocks on her door. Lucas answers the door, and cracks it open and leans on it.
"Is Jillian up here?" She asks softly.
He shakes his head no, but looks past Venus to see if it was a joke.
"Umm ok..."
Venus leaves confused, and Lucas follows her back to the living room.
"Umm if she's not up there where is she....?" Venus said out loud but trying to get an answer.
Everyone shrugs, not sure. Lucas checks the kitchen, knowing that's one her favorite places. They search all over the house and then start calling her phone.
She answers, "Yea?"
"Where are you?!" Venus yells.
There's a sudden silence, then she answers, "The beach..."
"Why? We are worried sick about you."
"I'm sorry, I just didn't want to cry..."
"Umm ok. Well u are you coming back."
Jillian sighs, "Whatever."
"Thank you Jills! Love you!" Venus says through the phone.
The call ends, and a bit later there's a knock at the door, it was locked. Venus went to the door and opened it. Jillian steps inside, and goes to the kitchen. Venus follows.
"You don't have to tell them." Venus says.
"I do, they deserve to know." Jillian says pouring some sweet tea.
"If ya say so."
They go back into the living room, and Venus tells the boys what they had planned. They seemed ok with it. Lucas, being as his, experience, was more recent, said he'd go first. Venus grabbed the tissue box from the bathroom. She also grabbed them from all over the house. Finn laughs at her, but understands. They get comfy on the couch. Lucas begins, "You guys probably already know, basically, how my childhood was..."
They all sat and listened.
"Well, uh, I was born in New Zealand, and I lived with my mother and father... Eventually, they another child, my little sister, Mia. Right before she was born, my Father left."
They all stared at Lucas.
"If I ever asked about my father I'd be yelled at. Well a few years ago... My mom married a man that seemed really nice." He continued.
"He defiantly wasn't. My mom favoring Mia didn't help. This was when the husband/stepdad would beat my mother."
"She also would yell at me for these random things. Like walking the dog or cooking breakfast. It was so stupid. One day I tried to stop my stepdad, Marcus. My mom was totally pissed off."
"I felt like," Lucas wiped a tear away, "like, I didn't belong. Marcus, my step dad left, as well."
"I finally after school was out went back home for the summer because you can't stay at the school. Once I got back to the house Marcus was gone and my mom basically blamed it on me for him leaving. So she umm kicked me out and that's why I'm here." He finishes.
Again wiping a tear away, Lucas looked up from the floor.
"Umm sorry guys." He kinda laughs the tears off.
Venus was reaching for a tissue.
"It's fine, hun..." Jillian comforted.
He nods softly.
"So umm who next?" Lucas asks.
They all looked around, and Venus nodded, "I'll go."
Finn pecks her cheek softly and whispers,"You can do it babe."
She smiles, and starts, "Well, I was born in Scotland, and my parents divorced. After my dad moved out, It usually went weekdays at my moms, and weekends with my dad."
"My mom got a job offer in Tokyo when I was in Middle School. She was gonna take me but it turned out that she was gonna have to be stationed there for a while so she asked my dad. Well at the time my dad was dating this "model". She was a stripper basically. So he didn't think she would approve of me. So he didn't take me in. My grandmother and grandfather watched me. Well at the time I was about to be 16 my dad had broken up with the stripper and tried to win my love back. So my birthday present from him was $30,000." She explained gently laughing.
"That's such bullshit!" Finn cried.
Venus giggles.
"Yea. So I stayed with my dad for a few years but he started drinking again. So, I went back to my grandparents house until I graduated High school. I then moved here to Australia."
Venus sniffed, but kept going. "I went to AU, and that's where I met Jilli."
"After we graduated from AU. I bought this house with my wonderful amount of money I saved up."
The boys laugh.
"And in about two months, I'll be starting a job, as a zoologist... I'm planning to work with the marsupials."
They all smiled.
"Who's next?!" Venus says excitedly.
Jillian, realizing she has to go eventually, looks nervously at Venus.
Jillian sighs, but begins nervously.
"Well umm..."
"I was born in Australia, clearly, but I lost the lingo because I lived alone in America for some time. But before that... I was umm abused by my umm dad. My mum didn't like it, but she couldn't stop him. She divorced him, and he left. But he came back, only to beat me to the point where I couldn't stand. My mom never found out. Well I really hate him and my evils twin sisters. They are younger than me. I finally got a restraining order against him. And well... the day I saw him at the park, I was numb, all the feelings I had covered for years were drowning me all over again."
They all nod as they grabs tissue.
Jillian states at the ground, her lips quivering.
Lucas hugs her.
"Shh baby. It's ok breathe."
"I don't think I'll ever forget what it feels like, when he's slap me.." She said suddenly.
Lucas gently gasps.
She looked up, confused.
"Sorry baby it was just so random." He says.
Jillian nods, understanding, "That's why I didn't want to mention it, some people think I do it for attention..."
"Aww baby... I think that's enough of your story..." Lucas suggests.
"Finn it's you're turn." Venus says gently.
She nods, and looks out the sliding door, but listened to Finn.
"Well I'm originally from Norway. I had a normal family until my mom died on my 7th birthday from... cancer."
Venus gasps, "I'm so sorry, Finn..."
"It's ok babe. Thus why I HATE birthdays. So anyway my dad didn't want to live in Norway anymore so we moved to the USA. Portland Oregon to be exact. When I was about 18 and 1/2 I moved to Australia and went to AU to study human diseases which includes cancer. One of my main goals in life would be to cure cancer."
They all nod, and Jillian says, "I think, now, we all have a new found respect for each other..."
"Yea but umm I have a question for Venus..." Lucas tells softly.
Venus looks away from Finn and raises her eyebrows at Luke.
"Umm you never mentioned umm." He stutters out pointing to her stomach.
Jillian opens her eyes wide enough for Venus to notice, and Venus sighs.
"Umm well when we were in AU. I was teased by these boys and they wouldn't stop. One day it got really serious and one of them threatened to end my life. He lived up to his word he cut my stomach deep enough to send me to the hospital. He then claimed that I self inflicted them because I wanted him to get in trouble. He eventually got expelled and he is now in prison for other crimes he's committed." Venus says sighing.
"Oh umm I'm sorry." Lucas apologizes.
Venus lifts her shirt up to see her stomach. She points to one specifically.
"My dad caused this one when he was drunk." That's how she finished her answer.
Jillian's eyes went from a sad blue-green, to a fiery pissed off green.
"Um Jills calm down please. It's ok he just wanted to know. He deserved to know." Venus said trying to calm down the upset Jello,
"Once it starts, there's no ending it..." JillIan rants. She felt that Venus was her sister, better than her lousy sisters. An if someone messed with Venus, they were asking for trouble.
"Jells who are you mad at my dad or Lucas?" Venus asks.
"Your father."
"Jell calm down breathe."
"You're dad needs to burn!" She screamed hugging Venus.
"Jills calm. Count with me. Ok."
"1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 6 6 7 7 8 8 9 9 10 10." They said at the same time.
By 10 they were both laughing. Eventually, the boys began laughing too.
"What we gonna do now."
"Food." Finn chants.
They all laugh.
"Ok... What?"
"Venus?" Finn asks, unsure.
"Huh? Oh food. I don't know..." She responds.
After the story telling and a silent late lunch, the sun was setting.
Venus gently smiles and walks to her room. Jillian sat on the balcony, glaring at the water. Finn and Lucas sat on the couch watching the news. After a while of sitting in her room. She comes back down.
"Guys can we go for a drive?" She asks softly.
Finn nods, "Thats a great idea!" Lucas goes to pack a small snack bag.
Venus puts some leggings on since she would stick to the seat in her shorts. Venus drags Jillian off the balcony and makes her change, too. Jillian changes into something comfortable like a white tank top, a lacy sweater, and black leggings. They all walked out to the car. Venus decided she'd drive, and Finn sat beside her. Venus sighs softly and starts the car.
"Buckle up y'all."
They buckle up and take the cover off, so the wind can be felt. Venus slows down though.
"What is it?"Jillian asks
"Whatcha mean?" Venus asks quietly.
"You slowed down, I wanna go fast. " Jillian says.
"I don't want to get in trouble." Venus says softly.
Jillian sighs, but understand. But she gets an idea, she's going have a surprise for everyone, she'll make them happy. She bounces excitedly
"What babe?" Lucas asks.
She laughs but says, "Oh, nothing..."
"Ok..."
Jillian laughs, and at a red light, Venus turns around and looks at her strangely.
Venus keeps driving and pulls into a parking lot.
"Where are we?" Luke asks.
"In a parking lot." Venus responds.
"A bit more specific?" Luke prods.
"In a parking lot in Sydney."
He sighs, but goes with it. "Why?" Finn asks.
"Idk." Venus says bluntly.
Everyone looks at Venus, confused.
"What?" Venus says looking at everybody.
"You brought us here no reason?" Finn says
"There is a reason but YALL don't know it yet."
Jillian gets out of the jeep, and runs around the around the parking lot, Venus follows her.
"Good lord slow down child."
"I can't, it's what I do when I'm upset!!" Jillian screams running even faster.
"Fine we are picking up Dylan
"Jillian! Come back!" Luke screams.
Venus gets back in the car.
Jillian keeps running around te car.
"Jill babe get in the car."
Lucas says from inside the car.
"You have to catch me!!" She sings.
He gets out and runs around then stops holding his arms open and catches her. She screams not expecting to run into anythig.
"Lol baby calm down."
By now Jillian was breathing really hard.
"Shhh." He says helping her in the car as Dylan pulls up in a cab.
Venus gets back out to greet him
"You have your bag?" She asks him and he nods.
Finn gets out confused.
"He's staying with us at the house."
Jillian gasps, "What now?"
"He's staying. He's depressed. Veronica broke up with him.
Jillian pulls out her phone, and dials a number.
"What jells?" Lucas asks.
"You'll have to excise me, I'm about to be very unladylike like..."
"Well shit" Venus says.
Jillian hums angrily until someone answers.
"Hello?" A squeaky voice answers.
And Jillian's off, "You filthy piece of shit! I don't think you fucking know who you're messing with!! I'll personally make sure that to never fucking walk again! Burn in hell Veronica!"
Venus stands their in shock.
"Oh well umm ok bitch."
"If you ever mess with my family, ever, you'll never see the light again!"
Veronica hangers up.
Jillian's hands are now in fists, and she turns back to the others.
Calm down
"I'm fine." Jillian says, climbing in the jeep.
Venus gets in the front
The boys stand there, on pure shock.
"Get in the car!" Venus yelled at them upset.
Jillian was clearly not moving, so the boys climb in around her. We sigh. Dylan sniffs, bus starts laughing. We all start laughing.
"Jillian, you have to teach me to do that sometime..." Luke says.
Jillian laughs and nods.
"Don't think I'm always like that..." She said
"I know how you are baby." He says softly.
Jillian giggles, "You guys understand?"
"Yea."
She nods, finally taking a normal breath. They head back to the house.
"Umm Dylan you ok in he guest bedroom?"
"Yea, that's fine..." He says solemnly.
"Ok." Venus says as she keeps driving
When they get to the house, everyone gets out of the car, with different emotions. They all walk inside and sit around awkwardly.
Lucas asks, "Soooo, um, dinner?"
"Um what do you want for dinner Dylan?" Venus asks softly.
"Pizzas good." Dylan says kindly.
"Ok. Boys what type of pizza?"
They agreed on cheese.
"Well I want some kind of meat so I'm getting pepperoni too if yall don't like the meat pick it off." Venus says grabbing her phone.
Everyone nods, and stay quiet as Venus orders.
"I need 1 cheese pizza and 1 pepperoni pizza. Yes yes ok alright. Thank you."
She tells the person out adress, and hung up.
They wait and wait and wait.
"In 8 minutes our pizza is free..." Luke says evilly.
They all laugh.
"Really?" Dylan asks.
Luke nods, and falls out of his chair when the doorbell rings.
They laugh and Venus walks to the door.
Jillian holds the pizza while Venus pays, and they thanks and say bye to the pizza guy.
Venus closes the door and locks it with the 4 locks.
Finn laughs at her overprotective nature. They all run to the food
"FREEZE!" Venus yells.
They all stop, and jillian squeaks.
"Wash your hands and get a plate." She says like a parent.
Everyone groans and does as they were told. Venus washes her hands and grabs her a plate but sets it down and opens the boxes waiting for the crowd.
Lucas and Jillian race to the table, fighting for first claim.
"Calm down." Venus says calmly.
"Can we eat in the living room?" Luke asks
"Yea just don't spill on the floor."
"Yes, Mum!" Jillian says.
"Hey."
Jillian winks at Venus, and laughs going into the living room. Venus shakes her head and gets her pizza. Dylan and Finn come back laughing about who knows. The boys get their pizza and go to sit in the living room. They all eat and watch a movie. Venus takes the plates once everyone is done and washes them. The rest of the crew watched the movie. Venus also boxed the pizza back up and put it in the fridge. Everyone agreed it was time for bed. Finn and Lucas show Dylan the guest room. Venus and Jillian start to get ready for bed. Jillian puts on short shorts and a tank top. Venus puts on leggings and a long sleeved T-shirt that had her favourite band on it. She also put her hair up. Jillian said goodnight to Venus and climbed under her covers.
"Night." Venus says walking to her bedroom.
Finn gets ready for bed and follows Venus to bed, and they snuggle. It was getting around 3AM when they heard it. There was scratching at the door.
Venus got up and walked to her door to see Blue and Lucifer outside her door. Venus then walks to Jillian's door and opens it softly letting Blue run in. Venus looks in Jillian's room. She smiles gently when she seems them cuddling. Venus walks back to her room and lays in bed with her cuties.
