Mystic Falls, 996AD.

Another full moon came and went, and Lilibeth still wasn't able to shift. This full moon was more special than most, it was Fenrir's first full moon, he killed someone and his wolf side woke up. Her family never saw the shift as a curse, this was special, not every family in their pack saw their shifts as a blessing, truth was most of them saw it as a curse, but not the Erikson. The Erikson loved that they were able to shift, loved that they had that dormant aspect of themselves that just wanted to be woken, so when twelve year old Fenrir killed someone it wasn't frowned upon, they welcomed it with open arms.

Even when the Erikson loved that other part of themselves it was never encouraged to shift, because it was never encouraged to kill. All the kills that gave the Erikson the ability to shift were accidents, they said it was their wolf trying to come out, it was their wolf wanting to be free. Fenrir killed a boy, the same age as his, they were training when accidentally Fenrir ran his sword through the boy, it was an accident everyone that saw what had happened said the same, it was an accident, but it was an accident that gave Fenrir access to that other part of himself, he finally woke his wolf.

So even when this full moon was a happy one, Lilibeth couldn't help but to feel sad and doubt her wolf, was it even there? It was a bittersweet moon for her, so when all her family was at the table eating, and interchanging their stories of last night she couldn't help but smile and be sad at the same time.

"Yes it hurt," said Fenrir, "but I have never felt freer," he smiled widely.

"What do we say about the pain, children?," her grandma asked.

"It's part of the process," all children said, "it's part of becoming our true self," it's part of becoming our true self, when was she going to become her true self? Was she ever going to?

Once they all finished eating and retuned to their daily chores, Lilibeth couldn't help but feel down, she sat outside their cot playing with the flowers that were coming out.

"Lilibeth," her grandma approached her, "are you doing well, child?," Lilibeth nodded but her grandma wasn't so sure so she sat besides her, "Is it about Fenrir?," lilibeth turned to look at her grandma with tears on her eyes and nodded.

"I don't like feeling this way," Grandma lilibeth nodded, "I hate feeling this way," her grandma sighed, "Am i not wolf enough?," Lilibeth asked now crying, her Grandma hugged her from the side and she cuddled.
