I GET WANTING FROM MY FATHER

i get my want from my father.

i want days to become memories

i want summer rain and strange beetles

i want to meet an old man on the street

and get advice from him and never see him again.

i want to collect experiences

like rain water falling in a glass

left out on the porch after a barbecue

i spent next to my father, smiling.

i get my hope from my mother.

i hope one day i'll be far from here.

i hope one day my tears become a Goddess

clear as water, broken as mother.

i hope love sings a silver song

in skies too far to see above

that lulls my sources back together.

i want, i hope, for unity and peace.
