Kayla and I got dressed and made sure our apartment was nice and clean since this was the first time the boys family would be over and my mom would kill me if it was messy

I baked a cake for dessert last night and decorated it this morning

When it was closer to the time everyone was supposed to come I started making a simple chicken with salad, homemade Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes

My family showed up first

My brother, his girlfriend Lydia, their son Oliver, and my parents

then the boys family came not long after

Quinn and Joey started talking right away and so did the parents

Lydia was with me and her son until Luke came then it was the four of us

Luke made it a point to go say hi to my parents and introduce himself while I was in the kitchen

The parents took up the couches in the living room

Kayla Jack and Luke took up three out of four island stools and Joey, Quinn, Lydia and Oliver sat at the little table Kayla and I have

Quinn and Lydia knew eachother because her and my brother have been together since her first and his last year at Umich

When the food was done I put it all out on the counter and every one took what they wanted

There was almost no leftovers

I sat with Kayla Jack and Luke on the island stools and we all talked while eating

"Trin this is actually really good" Luke looked over at me "what did you think it was gonna be bad" I laughed a little "no but I didn't think it'd be good" he replied "ok rude" I rolled my eyes eating my potatoes

"I'm joking" Luke laughed a little at my face

When everyone was done i took out the cake from the fridge to let it thaw a little, not that it was frozen it was just cold

I got compliments on the food from everyone and I was actually surprised because it was kinda a simple thing and I didn't think I was that good of a chef

My parents talked to Luke mostly asking him about himself

I think my parents like him, I wouldn't say love yet but I know they do like him

"See that wasn't so bad, you had nothing to be scared about" I told him "really? I totally bombed" he shook his head "no you were fine, they like you" I reassured him

Everyone had cake and we all talked my brother formally met Luke

"When you came to talk to Trin on the first night I didn't wanna say anything to make it awkward" my brother told him "no I know, you were holding back that smile the whole time" luke told my brother

"How didn't we meet before" I looked over at Luke and he shrugged "Joey was hiding you" he joked "no but even at games I never saw you after and I guess I didn't really pay attention as much and didn't notice you" I added "honestly I knew he had a sister but I didn't know much, all I knew was from what mark and Ethan would say" he told me "what'd they say" I questioned "doesn't matter" he shook his head

"You guys wanna play hockey? There's a rink near here that's open all year round, maybe Trinny can show you her skills" my brother said teasingly at the end

"When we were younger I needed someone to play with so I taught Trin and she played offensively against me, she was actually pretty good" my brother told Luke
