Nobody's POV

"Ouch Skai! If I wanted Mommy to do my hair I would've asked her."

"My bad, I have to grip it because your hair is so thick."

"Like me."

"Girl—" The sister duo laughed. Skai was in Desiree's room braiding her hair. She didn't ask Toni to do it because she knew that her mother was still recovering from her surgery. Although she might have been feeling better, Desiree didn't want to ask her mother. Skai was styling her sister's hair into Fulani braids with her natural hair.

"What? I am thick."

"In your dreams." Skai told her sister and shook her head.

Azuree's POV

"Do you guys want to hear me sing?"

"Yes!"

"Is that even a question?" I chuckled. My parents and I walked to the basement studio. The last time they heard me singing was to kick off the new year. They haven't heard me singing in person so this will be a first. I hope they like my singing voice.

"What are we going to hear?"

"A song that is popular."

"I thought you were going to sing a song you wrote?"

"Not yet, I'm not ready for that yet." They sat in front of the soundboard and I walked into the booth. I put on the headphones and mommy pressed the sound button.

"What button do we have to press?"

"None, Acapella."

"Ouuuu." I cleared my throat,

"And I need you now toniiight! And I need you more than eveeerrrr!" I started obnoxiously singing but I stopped because I couldn't take myself seriously. I giggled at my parents' faces.

"Zee..."

"I'm just joking, I'm going to be singing a song that I wrote and planning on releasing. Press track 4 please." Momma pressed track 4 and I soon heard the music coming from the headphones. This song is called Angel and I love it so much. I let Mama K hear it and she loves it too. I hope my parents feel the same way. I started from the chorus,

"Black girl here, Black girl with the Black girl hair
Took a little sunkiss just to look like this
God-sent, you're an angel
Angel
Angel
Angel
Heaven wears your halo
They know you're an angel
Angel
Angel
Angel..."

"Some might hate and they wait on your fall
They don't know there's a grace for it all
My flaws don't make me
Beautiful and real are you, they cannot compare, all you
Perfectly a masterpiece in all of me, even my scars
Even my scars, yeah."

In this verse, I wrote about the controversy with me playing Ariel and when I mentioned the scars, I'm talking about when I cut myself. My parents don't know about that and I'm a bit scared that they might ask me about it after hearing the song. The music soon came to an end and a huge smile spread across my parent's faces. Did they like it?

"Oh baby, that was so beautiful!" My mother spoke as I left the booth. She stood up and hugged me tight.

"Really?"

"Yes, baby."

"You did amazing and you sound beautiful."

"When are you planning to release it?"
