As Sage's car rolled to a stop in front of Connor's apartment building, a chorus of excited squeals erupted from the backseat. Iyker, Cylis, and Tommy, Sage's younger siblings, practically vibrated with anticipation as they unbuckled their seatbelts and clamored to get out of the car.

"Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" Tommy chirped eagerly, bouncing up and down in his seat with uncontainable energy.

Sage chuckled softly, her heart swelling with affection for her spirited siblings. "Yes, we're here," she replied, reaching back to ruffle Tommy's hair affectionately. "Now remember to be on your best behavior for Connor, okay?"

The children nodded eagerly, their eyes shining with excitement as they piled out of the car and bounded towards the entrance of the apartment building. Sage followed close behind, a fond smile playing at her lips as she watched them race ahead.

Inside the building, they made their way up to Connor's apartment, the children practically bursting with anticipation. Sage knocked on the door, her heart fluttering with anticipation as she waited for Connor to answer.

The door swung open, revealing Connor's warm smile as he greeted them. "Hey! Come on in," he said, stepping aside to let them enter.

Iyker, Cylis, and Tommy wasted no time in rushing into Connor's arms, their laughter filling the air as he scooped them up in a tight embrace. Sage's heart swelled with affection as she watched the scene unfold, grateful for the bond that had formed between her siblings and Connor.

"Hey Buddies," Connor chuckled, ruffling their hair playfully. "Ready for a fun day with Uncle Connor?"

The children nodded eagerly, their eyes shining with excitement as they chattered animatedly about all the adventures they hoped to have with Connor. Sage couldn't help but smile at the sight, her heart warmed by the love and affection that radiated between them.

"Thank you so much for watching them, Babe," Sage said gratefully, stepping forward to give him a quick hug. "I really appreciate it."

Connor returned the hug with a warm smile, his eyes sparkling with affection. "Anytime, Sage. They're like family to me," he replied sincerely.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the cemetery as Sage made her way to her brother Gage's grave. It had been years since she had last visited, but today felt different. Today, she needed to talk to him, to share with him the joys and sorrows of her life since he had been gone.

As she approached his grave, Sage felt a lump form in her throat, a familiar ache settling in her chest. She knelt down beside the headstone, tracing her fingers over the engraved letters of his name.

"Hey, Gage," she whispered, her voice barely above a murmur. "It's been too long."

Taking a deep breath, Sage settled onto the ground, her eyes fixed on the marble marker that bore her brother's name. Memories flooded her mind, a bittersweet mix of laughter and tears as she remembered the brother she had lost too soon.

"I miss you, you know," she began, her voice wavering with emotion. "Every day, I miss you."

Sage took a moment to compose herself before continuing, her words a whispered confession to the brother she had loved and lost.

"There's so much I want to tell you," she said softly, her voice trembling with emotion. "So much that's happened since you've been gone."

She took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts as she prepared to share with Gage the details of her life since his passing.

"I met someone, Gage," she confessed, her heart swelling with emotion. "His name is Connor, and he's... he's amazing."

Sage's voice trembled as she spoke Connor's name, her heart overflowing with love and gratitude for the man who had become her rock in the wake of her brother's death.

"We're going to move in together," she continued, her voice filled with excitement. "And maybe... maybe we'll get a dog, too. I know you always wanted one."

As Sage spoke, she could feel Gage's presence surrounding her, his spirit a comforting presence in the stillness of the cemetery.

"And then there's our siblings," Sage said, her voice growing soft as she thought of Iyker, Cylis, and Tommy. "They're doing okay, Gage. They miss you, too. I try to be there for them, but... but it's hard sometimes."

Tears welled in Sage's eyes as she thought of her younger siblings, their innocent faces haunting her dreams as she grappled with the pain of losing her brother. She wished Gage were here to offer her guidance.

"And then there was the break-in," Sage whispered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I thought I was going to lose another sibling, Gage. I thought... I thought I was going to lose them all."

The memories of that night came flooding back, the fear and uncertainty still fresh in Sage's mind as she recounted the events to her brother's grave. She described the terror she had felt, the overwhelming sense of helplessness as she had watched her family's safety hang in the balance.

"But we made it through, Gage," Sage said, her voice filled with determination. "We made it through, just like we always do. And I know you're watching over us, guiding us through the darkest of times."

And as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the cemetery, Sage whispered a final farewell to her brother, her heart filled with love and gratitude for the time they had shared together.

"Goodbye, Gage," she said softly, her voice carrying on the breeze. "I'll see you again someday. Until then, know that you'll always be in my heart."

It's been a long time
And seeing the shape of your name
Still spells out pain
