It has been a really long while (probably an entire decade) since I've ever written something so outwardly gore. I suppose I had started to miss it.

I have way less worse things in my "not posted yet" folder that I'm still wondering if I should post one day or not, but I felt like this one was important to publish. After all, what is described here is what needs to be done for you to have your lovely steak in your plate or a leather coat on your back. So if you are okay with it in real life, then why would you be so uncomfortable reading about it ?

Content warning : contains animal death, gutting, skinning and implied meat consumption.

Probably the piece I've done the most research for, and I hope it's worth it cause they were also some of the most disgusting research I've had to do for a fic (and I didn't even watch the tutorial videos).

Finland ran as fast as his hooves could carry him, expertly dodging the rocks and ferns on his path without having to even look at them, as if his mind had a precise map of the forest floor imprinted within.

As soon as he had heard them, these howls and yells ; his ears had straightened in a matter of seconds and he had bounced away without thinking, his tail high and the white fur of his behind fluffed up in preparation for a potential predator. He hadn't gone far from the terrain that surrounded their house, so he knew that these cries must have come from there. Someone from his group must be in danger, and that was the only thing he thought about as he ran through the forest.

Soon enough, he had arrived and found himself speechless as he looked around at the scene. No more howls. Denmark was the first centaur he saw.

His ears were low, his face contorted into a pain and anger-filled grimace, his teeth bared. The fur of his spotted pelt raised by tension like an angry cat. And with his left hand, was clenching his right wrist, from which an all too common shiny red substance was oozing, dripping along his fingers and soaking the clothes he was wearing the closest.

By staring for longer, Finland could see that the puncture wound from which the blood was dripping looked a lot like a bite mark.

"Den skide tæve !(The fucking bitch) It tored at my arm !" the fallow deer centaur swore, facing a specific direction with the most furious gaze Finland had ever seen in him.

Then, just as quick, from the direction of the house, he saw Norway, followed closely by Åland, running toward them, an upset expression plastered onto their faces. They directly run up to Denmark, trying to sooth him as they lead him away, back to the house.

"It's okay, we're going to fix it up." Norway said, as gentle and caring as he always was. And with that, the three left Finland's sight.

Having nothing else to watch on this side, he turned to the other, to where Denmark had been staring with disdain, where the next piece of the puzzle resided. There, he saw Iceland, Faroe and Greenland, their swords drawn, looking exhausted, huffing, with their deer ears also hanging low. But the detail that caught his attention the most was how they were covered in blood droplets, from their faces to their attire to their fur, and their swords were completely painted red.

Only then did he lower his eyes to see what it was all about. At their hooves was an unmoving grey shape, laid in a puddle of its own blood. He ended up recognizing it as a wolf.

Sweden finally came into view, Finland hadn't heard him coming. They had gone away together, and when Finland had ran off to go check on the rest of the group, he must have gone behind him ; he would have been too fixated on the potential danger to realize he was being followed.

The bull elk had come closer to the wolf corpse, from which life had already escaped before their arrival. Then Sweden raised his head toward the three centaurs in front of him, who had stayed in place, waiting to give a report.
