I was enjoying my day off from work watching " The Real Housewives of Atlanta" when my phone started ringing. At first, I ignored it, but that was what turned out to be an invitation to call me even more. After the third call, I finally gave up and picked up my phone to see it was my boss calling me. "What does he want now? I earned this day off and now he's gonna take it away from me." I tried to remain calm while I answered my phone despite how angry I was on the inside. "Hello, Mr. Davis," I say in a cheery tone. "Yeah ok, where were you I have been trying to get a hold of you for the last twenty minutes!" Who does he think he is talking to me like that? I have worked for him for 7 years and he still treats me like I'm some shit on the floor instead of his best employee. I wanted to punch that jackass in the face, but he is my boss and I need to keep my job to help with my grandma's medical bills. "Sorry sir, that I wasn't by the phone to hear you", I lie. "Well, you need to cover Tyler on his shift today. He called in sick and now I don't have anyone to cover the new rooms that these guests are staying in. One of them is very high profile and he just took a break from his tour. Now he is staying in MY HOTEL, so I need everything to be PERFECT!" I am really curious about who these people are especially who the "high profile" guy is. "Okay sir, I will be there but wha-great be here in 15 minutes they are arriving in an hour and I need those rooms to be spotless." I cannot believe this man is asking me to do something for him but then wants to cut me off and disrespect me. But then he interrupts my thoughts by saying, "Be there or ELSE." Then he hangs up the phone without letting me tell him my thoughts. Even worse now I have to text Alexa and tell her our beach plans are a no-go. I go to the messages app on my phone and start texting.
Me: hey sis i have to tell u something
Alexa: what is it?
Me: i can't go to the beach today
Alexa: why not?
Me: because my boss just called and told me i have to go in today because one of my co-workers is out
Alexa: that's not fair we have been planning this for 3 weeks!
Me: i know but he said come there or else
Alexa: you need to quit that stupid job ur boss treats u like shit and u never have time to hang out with me or relax you were probably watching the real housewives of atlanta and he interrupted u to tell u all that stupid shit
Me: yea u know it but i can't lose my job i have to help grandma with her treatments
Alexa: fine but to make it up to me u have to come to this club in town with me on friday night
Me: ok i will can we talk more later i only have another 13 minutes until i have to be there
Alexa: yea what time do u get off?
Me: at 9:00 but my boss might make me stay late for the "high profile" client
Alexa: who is it?
Me: i tried to ask but he cut me off ill just have to find out when i get there
Alexa: ok well don't let me hold u up go to work talk to u later tonight and i might come over instead because i need to get out of the house
Me: ok u still have the spare key right?
Alexa: yea i do see ya later love u bye
Me: love u too bye
I quickly put my phone in my pocket and then ran straight to the door to get my work bag with my uniform and all of my other necessities. I put on my shoes, my wallet, and car keys and speed out of the house. I make it to my car turn on the engine and start blasting "An Evening With Silk Sonic."
