"Are these safe" the girls asks as she points the to bush filled with blue berries. We've been running around the forest, looking for anything that might peak Tuk's interest. But with all these different things laying around she is curious about the common berries.

"Yes they are" I reply to her,  plucking few berries and offering some to Kiri. We exchanged few words here and there, but she still feels closed off. I will try not to push as I have to respect her boundaries as well.

She takes the berries from my hand and thanks me as she eats them. Tuk continues to dart around, searching for something that she can use as a material for her bracelets.

Tuk explained that her eldest brother has been teaching her recently how to make jewelry, so as a test for herself she wants to make him a bracelet. "How do I know what will he like" she whines as she looks around, underneath the leaves, rocks. Behind the trees.

"Tuk" Kiri says once she gets ahold of her younger sister "he will love it no matter what. The fact that it is from you is what makes it special" she explains to her sister. And with a nod Tuk goes in front of us once again, jumping as she walks and looks around. Like all worries just vanished away.

She's a strange kid.

"What about you" I ask as we pick few more rocks that could be shaped as beads "do you make anything yourself"

"I do" she simply replies, making a pause before she starts again "most of us learn to make our own things, clothes and jewels, but they can be gifted to us from a friend or family"

"Oh really. Here mostly one person in family is responsible for such task. And whenever something new is made it gets passed on"

Amate is usually the one who does that. We are not blood related but we're still family. She always enjoyed making clothes, even if her schedule is filled she always found time for it. Her eye is just spot on. She can capture you, your soul, and channel it into clothing. All she needs is just few materials and couple of days to make a piece made just for you.

That's what I love about her. Her unique taste, her weirdness and her gentle hands that outside of sewing can heal so many people.

"I found something" Tuk screams in excitement. Her body can not be contained and she is just jumping in spot until we take a look to see at what she has found.

She stumbled across a shell. And to be honest I have no idea how it got here. Maybe a bird dropped it.

A shell really. Not too big not too special. A simple shell laid down beneath us. What could've gotten her so excited about it.

Then it hit me, they're from forest. They grew up and lived their whole life in forest, never surrounded by a beach. Could it be that they have never seen a shell before.

I take it carefully and brush the dirt from it. Placing it into Tuk's hand. She moves it closer to her eyes, examining the little white thing between her fingers. Later, she gives it to Kiri and continues to frolic around.

"Don't run too far away" Kiri yells, her voice going to waste as Tuk probably can't hear it.

"Don't worry the woods are safe. The most dangerous thing here is us" I tell her.

"I wanted to ask but I am not sure if it's appropriate" she says looking at me "go ahead" I tell her.

"How come there is some many different people here" she asks, by the way that her eyes leave my gaze I can tell that she felt uncomfortable asking that. But it's ok, it's not a bad of a question.

"Village was formed as a refuge for people that got kicked out of their clans. Over the years more and more people found this place and decided to stay. My father realized that there was a need for order so they made a clan"

Despite her opening her mouth no words are said. She just looks into the distance and I follow her gaze. Something move. Tuk has seen it now.

Her small figure starts to walk backwards, having her face the thing that just moved in front of her. Kiri makes her way to her sister and grabs her by her arm, pulling her away as if Tuk is some sort of shock "Didn't you say it was safe" she breaths out.

"It is" I say, pulling out the knives from the belt that's wrapped underneath my cloak.

"Who is it" I yell, handing the other knife to Kiri. She might use it against me, stab me and run away but there was something in her eyes that told me she was not like that. We hide Tuk with our bodies, looking around to see if anything will appear from the forest.

Nothing does. At least for some time. It isn't until we drop out guard and relax that something shows itself behind the enormous leaves.

Without thinking much. As an instinct. I throw the knife in that direction. The blade almost hitting the target but it didn't leave them unscarred. The boy winces in pain. Kiri leaves out a sight and jumps onto the boy. Yelling and slapping him from scaring all of us like that.

"I was just looking for Lo'ak" he protests. Moving his hand to his ear where the cut was made. It's nothing deep, as far as I can see, but he is still bleeding. Tuk runs towards them and hugs the brother. Only when he scoops her up and wraps her into his arms does she begin to cry. Poor little thing.

But Lo'ak. I guess that's their other brother, could he be the one that was messing with us in that bush?

I turn around and walk over the bush that we saw move. I can not see through it, nor do I have any weapons that will make the boy scared, so with no other options I sway my tail and hit the bush. A small yelp comes out of it, and soon after, a figure stands up. Lo'ak, I assume. With a hand over his cheek.

But before I can say anything Kiri runs from behind me, jumping onto her brother and kicking him as he screams for help. Other brother joins the mess and separates the two, giving the lecture to both Lo'ak and Kiri at the same time. That boy has a lot on his plate.

I turn around to look at Tuk who is just standing there, her eyes red and puffy. I reach out with my hand and she takes it.

"Now let's go, mother asked for all of you to join he dinner. I don't want to hear any more words coming from the two of you"

"But Neteyaam" Lo'ak cries in protest and Kiri just stands there, rolling her eyes at her brother. "Let's just go" she storms off, Lo'ak running behind her as if he's lost and needs her for a way back.

"I'm sorry for that"

"It's fine" Neteyam is his name, I think? I already forgot it.

He hands me the knife I've given to Kiri, as well as the knife that I threw at him. Embarrassed I take them and we start to walk down the same path as Kiri and Lo'ak.

"Sorry about your ear" I tell him, Tuk still holding my hand as we walk. She is trying to catch up to us, but rather than her tiring herself out we slow down our pace. "It's alright, it's nothing much anyways"

"Maybe you should still clean it when we get back" I propose, even thought I clean my knife I don't want him getting the wound infected.

"I will do so, thank you"
