Friday morning came and the students of Auradon Prep were buzzing with excitement for the weekend was near, and come Monday they would all be celebrating their new King.

Not everyone was as full of enthusiasm as the rest of the student body, Evie was among the few who woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

After Bella left her last night, she went back to her dorm and buried herself under her covers. She lay there crying until she couldn't cry anymore, and even then she stayed hidden until sleep overtook her. She didn't bother changing or removing her makeup, she was too upset to do anything but lay there and blame herself for ruining everything. Her mother's voice filled her head, it mocked and belittled her for believing she was going to get the girl. Good things don't happen to girls like Evie, that's what her mother would always say, and maybe she was right.

When Evie woke up, she considered staying in her bed and skipping her classes but decided to go solely because she would at least see Bella in class. It was more than likely that Bella wouldn't even look her way, but Evie wanted to see her, even if it was just to admire her from afar. Maybe Bella needed time and some space before she was ready to talk to Evie again. That sort of hope was what pushed Evie to get up and get ready for the day, even if it wasn't enough to completely change her mood.

She was quiet when she joined her friends for breakfast, she ignored the questions from Jay and Carlos who wanted to know what happened when they left. She ignored Mal completely for it was her plan that got her in this mess, and Evie was okay with putting partial blame on her, at least enough to make herself feel the tiniest bit better.

Time seemed to go slower than usual during their Remedial Goodness lesson, each time Evie glanced at the clock she could swear the hands moved slower and slower each time. When the bell finally rang to dismiss them, Fairy Godmother stopped them from leaving.

"My children, if I could have one more second of your time, as you may have heard, this Sunday is Family Day here at Auradon Prep. Since your parents can't join us, we've arranged a special little surprise for you." Fairy Godmother rolled a cart with a monitor towards them. She smiled at them, she seemed more excited for this reunion than they did.

This surprise was a bucket of ice-cold water for them, would their parents be able to see how comfortable they felt in Auradon? Would they lash out, and reprimand them for taking too long with what they were sent to do?

Fairy Godmother set up the call, and soon enough their parents were in front of them- well a parent was. Maleficent had her face up against the camera blocking the others from the camera view.

"I don't see anything, nor do I hear." Mal felt as if her mother was looking right at her, just like she had felt that night at the museum.

"Step up dears, so they can hear and see you better." Fairy Godmother gestured for them to come closer, and they did as told, there was no getting out of this.

"Press enter!" Hearing Jafar's voice sent a shiver down Jay's spine, he avoided looking at the screen. If his dad knew the people Jay was making friends with... He could hear the words, and feel the pain he would've been in. He was glad to be on the other side of the screen, he couldn't imagine wanting to go back there.

"Are we sure this thing is even on?"

The villains kept pressing buttons until one finally allowed them to see their children. They were now all face-to-face, sort of.

"Evie! It's Mommy! Oh look at you, were you in some rush this morning? Still, I know you're the fairest of them all there, you know, as they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree." The Evil Queen laughed, she was insinuating that Evie had not put effort into her look and thus did not look up to par. Evie tried to not let it get to her, she already had too much on her mind and her mother making comments on her appearance would surely throw her off the edge.
