Love Affair That Lasts Forever

The Steps of the Golden Palace

The palace guards, including the warriors 3, immediately surrounded Loki and Kate. "You were banished from Asgard", Sif said, ready to attack at the first sign of any magic or mischief Loki decided to use on them. "It's good to see you too Sif", Loki said with a slight smirk on his face. "I assure you Sif, I'm here to see Mother and Odin", he started, "I only wish for my love, Kate, to meet them. Sif wasn't buying it, Loki had seemed harmless many times as an excuse to wreck havoc on Asgard. "Does Thor know you are here", she queried? "He does, we discussed everything yesterday" he assured her, but not telling her what a bad idea he had thought this would be. To just show up in Asgard, especially without him. "I find it hard to believe he would let you come alone", she stated, moving closer to him to gauge his body language. "I assure all of you our visit will be brief, my intentions are strictly to introduce Kate to everyone and show her the beauty of Asgard and then we will leave" he advised all of them.

Kate never knew this side of Loki, nor did she know that he had been banished over something that he had done, that must have been really bad considering they were surrounded by Sif and the other warriors....and numerous palace guards. And she didn't recall him ever telling her anything about how he was never to return here, otherwise, like Thor she would've told him what a bad idea it was to come. Nudging Loki's side she whispered, "Loki, why are we being greeted with such hostility"? "Darling, I will explain everything later" he whispered in her ear. Kissing her forehead to reassure her that everything would be ok. "Please Sif, I implore you to let us pass, so I may take her to the palace to meet Mother and Odin" he advised. His magic was beginning to crackle at his fingertips. He wanted to make both himself and Kate disappear so they could walk invisible past all of the opposition standing between them and the palace doors.

Suddenly Frigga appeared at the gates. "Everyone will stand down", she commanded. At the same time everyone bowed to her, "Yes, your Majesty" they all said in unison.

"Loki, my son, it's so good to see you, " she said, hugging him tightly. "How are you doing on Midgard"? "Mother, I am doing very well", he replied with a warm smile on his face. "And who is this beautiful woman that has accompanied you to Asgard", she asked with a puzzled look on her face. Loki felt great excitement at knowing that the woman that raised and loved him as her own was meeting the woman that he would love beyond the end of her mortal life. "Mother, she is the reason that I have briefly come back to Asgard", he warmly replied. "Kate, this is my mother Frigga". "Mother, this is Kate McKenzie, the love of my life". With that declaration, Kate looked at Loki with a smile on her face and silently mouthed the words, "I love you too...forever". Frigga knew that the love they felt for each other was real...and very deep. She took Kate by the hand, "It is my honor to meet the woman that loves my son and will cherish and protect him with her very life", she said lovingly. "Your majesty, it is a great honor to meet you as well", she said, beaming with love. Loki stood there looking at both women that he loved so dearly, knowing that his mother would accept Kate, regardless that she was a mortal.

With this Frigga turned around and addressed every one, "You will let them pass and I will deal with Odin". At the same time they all divided to make a path for the Queen, Loki and Kate to walk to the palace. When they reached the steps of the palace, Odin stood at the top of them. Immediately Frigga began to explain why Loki and Kate were there, Glaring down at Loki, he bellowed, " I banished you to Midgard for a reason and yet here you stand". "I should throw you in the dungeon, I would then know that you would stay put and could not cause anymore destruction". "And what of Thor, how did you manage to escape his watchful eye"? Kate stood there frozen, afraid to move or breath. What had she gotten herself into she wondered, wanting nothing more than to just disappear back to her own life on her own realm.

She found the courage to look at Loki, "My love, may I speak with you privately for a moment", she asked, her voice unsteady with fear. Moving a safe distance away from the palace steps he began to explain to her "Darling, I assure you everything will be fine", he said with sheer panic on his face, "Loki, please send me back to Earth, you obviously have greater things to take care of than just me meeting your parents and seeing all of Asgard", she pleaded. "When they are resolved I will return" her face solemn. "Darling, mother and I will resolve them today, I will have one of the guards to escort you to one of my rooms while we do, you will be safe, I promise you", he tried to reassure her. "Kate, please don't leave me", he pleaded with tear filled eyes. She placed her hand on his cheek and his face melted into it. "My love, I'm not leaving you, I don't understand what's going on, but I'm trying to give you the space you need to find a resolution", she said, wiping away a tear that had trickled down his face.

"If you choose to go back I will have Thor to escort you, but I implore you to please stay", pleading with her. Kate knew now that there was so much that he hadn't told her about why he wasn't living on his own realm and why Thor kept such a watchful eye on him and that concerned her. "You are a God, but kind are you", she asked as anger started to rise up in her. He knew that when he told her that everything between them would change. He knew that she may not forgive him for not telling her the full truth about who he was and why both Odinson's were on Earth. Hesitantly, his voice trembled as he said to her, "I am the God of Mischief. I am also known on Asgard and many other realms as the God of Mischief, Evil and Lies". "However, thanks to meeting you Darling, I have changed. "Ask Thor, he see's it as well". Kate dropped her hand and took a few steps back from him with a look of total shock. "Send me back now". she demanded. Suddenly Thor appeared, bellowing at Loki, "I told you not to come and that if you did, that I would accompany you both, did I not"? Loki stood there glaring at him. "Thor, I am sick of you watching my every move". "I told you that I would not be here long and yet you won't even trust that I was telling you the truth". "Thor, take me back to Earth, please, Kate begged. "I will not go back until everything is resolved and Kate can meet Odin, properly", he said. "No Loki you will go with both of them, NOW, Odin bellowed. "Thor you must watch him more closely from this day forward". "If he returns I will throw him in the dungeon forever". By Odin's command, Thor called for Heimdall to send them back and in a flash of colorful light they were returned to earth.
