Chapter 1: The Summer Job

(Woodsboro, California, June 2021, Y/N's Age: 24)

Y/N's POV

I wake up due to the sun shining through the curtains.

I sit up and yawn then stretch out my arms.

Then I grab my phone and see it's still early before I have to go into work.

During the school year, I'm an assistant coach for the football team and out of the football season and part time, I'm a mechanic.

Y/N: Guess I'll take a shower before heading into work.

I look around my room.

Y/N: And... I'm talking to... myself.

After this I go into the bathroom and take a shower.

(Twenty-Five Minutes Later)

After taking a shower and getting dressed, I head downstairs and into the kitchen.

I then make a pot of coffee.

Just then my phone rings.

I see that it's mom.

She and dad live in Atlanta. After my knee injury I came back to Woodsboro and started living in the house I grew up in.

Though, dad technically still owns it.

Y/N: Hey mom.

Michelle: Hey sweetie. Just calling to check in.

Y/N: The house is fine mom. I haven't burned it down.

Mom chuckles.

Michelle: Not the house. On you.

I laugh.

Y/N: I know.

I pour myself a cup of coffee.

Y/N: How's dad?

Michelle: He's... your father.

Y/N: That bad, huh?

Michelle: He's alright. He's outside working on fixing the fence.

Y/N: What happened?

Michelle: Oh nothing. I just want it expanded.

Y/N: Makes sense. Well I gotta get to work, mom. I'll call you later. Love you.

Michelle: I love you too, sweetie.

Mom hangs up.

After that, I look over at the picture of mom, dad and I on the fridge.

Despite being adopted by them, the two of them have treated me like their own and have never told me anything less other than being their son.

After a moment or so, I head towards the front door.

Axel: Going to work?

I look at the couch and see my best friend, Axel laying down.

Y/N: What'd you do? Sleep here last night?

Axel: Yeah. Don't worry. I'll lock up.

Y/N: Please do. I'll talk to you later.

Axel: Have fun.

I walk outside and head towards my car. I see Tara sitting on her porch.
