Chapter 20: Our Version Of Normal

Y/N's POV

So police and ambulances have now shown up along with reporters.

All of us have been patched up and had our wounds covered. Though I'm gonna need stitches.

Chad and Mindy survived and are being taken to the hospital.

As I'm laying on the gurney, Sam comes over to me.

Sam: Hey.

Y/N: Hey.

Sam: How you feeling?

I cough.

Y/N: Pretty good, I'd say.

Sam: Same old, Y/N. Your ego's too stubborn.

I laugh but it hurts.

Y/N: Ow.

Sam: I don't think I could've survived without you, Y/N.

Y/N: Ah, that's not true you would've been fine.

Sam: No, I wouldn't have. Since I left Woodsboro I've felt like something's been missing. I've felt hollow, broken. Like I've been living a nightmare I can't wake up from.

She puts her hand on mine.

Sam: And then when I saw you when I first came back. It's like I woke up from that nightmare.

She leans in and cups my cheeks.

Sam: You're the reason why I'm still alive and you're the reason I wanna continue to wake up in the morning. You give me purpose, Y/N L/N.

She kisses me on the lips.

Just then I groan and she pulls away.

Sam: Are you okay?

Y/N: You're elbows on my ribs.

Sam: Ooops, sorry.

I smile.

Y/N: It's okay. I'd take another stab wound if it meant I'd get to wake beside you in the morning.

Sam: Does that mean... ?

Y/N: Hey, let's talk at the hospital. Right now, there's someone who needs you alot more than I do.

I motion to the ambulance with Tara.

Y/N: I'll be alright go.

Sam: I'll meet you there, okay?

Y/N: I know you will.

(The Next Day)

I'm in my hospital room laying in bed.

It's the next day and I'm still recovering from what happened.

Though it's not all bad as even my parents are here. They went to get something to eat after I assured them I'd be fine.

Just then, Sam comes into my room.

Sam: Hey, how are you feeling?

Y/N: Better than yesterday. How's Tara?

Sam: She'll be okay.

She comes over to me.

Sam: Does it still hurt?

Y/N: Like a bitch.

We laugh.

I move over a bit and Sam lays in bed with me.

She lays her head on my chest.

Sam: I'm sorry all this happened, Y/N. Maybe if I hadn't left then this wouldn't have happened.

Y/N: Hey, don't say that. What happened would've happened either way and there's nothing you could've done to change it.

I lean my head against hers.

Y/N: You had to go. I know that now. And I... I love you, Sam. I always have and I always will.

She looks at me.

Sam: I'm sorry I killed your best friend.

Y/N: I'm sorry I killed your boyfriend.

Sam: He could've never measured up to you so I'd say we're even.

We laugh.

Y/N: Samantha Carpenter, will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man in the world and going on a date with me?

Sam: Hmmm, I'd have to check my calendar.

Y/N: Oh, is that so?

Sam: Oh yeah. I'm a popular woman. A lot of guys lining up and wanting to hang out and-

I kiss her admist her ramble.

I pull away.

Y/N: Just say yes.

She smiles.

Sam: Yes, I'd love to go on a date with you.

Tara: Well it's about time.

We look over and see Tara standing there.

Tara: I was beginning to think you'd never make it official...again.

Sam: Hey, you should be resting.

Tara: Got tired.

She comes over to us.

She gets in the bed on the other side of me.

Y/N: You know this bed isn't that big, right?

The three of us laugh.

The girls lay their heads on my chest.

Tara: Do you think we'll ever be normal again?

Y/N: Eh, normal is so overrated.

She sighs.

Y/N: But with time... we'll get to our version of normal.

We survived the ghostface killings and I hope I'm right. Hopefully we get back normal soon.
