58. Knight in shining armor

" We need someone to sign the consent " Sidharth spoke coming out of the ICU, his hairs were disheveled, eyes swollen and there were black circles around his eyes, he looked like a disaster as if it had been days he had been asleep properly and Shehnaaz knew he was repenting, he was and he looked as if he lost everything

She on the other hand looked at him with longing in her eyes, she was worried for that little soul who was critical, fighting for her life Shehnaaz knew but she was also worried about what he had made of himself

Dr. Sidharth Mittal, who was a Greek god to everyone, fit, healthy, well dressed looked nothing like him, it had been just a week but he had not shaved she could see, his hairs were longer than a week back and were falling on his forehead

" I said you something Shehnaaz " He spoke looking at her, who was lost in him he knew, he was tired, all he wanted to do was embrace her in his arms and let go of everything, it was after a week she saw him and he could see all the emotions flooding in her eyes but he wasn't going to do that because she was worried for someone right now, someone who wasn't him and he would do everything in him to make sure that someone is safe.

" Huh " She spoke coming out of the trance  and looking at the surrounding before taking a deep breathe

" Consent ?" She asked, her voice full of emotions and she knew she might cry with all the feelings in her heart and mind at the moment

" Dr. Sidharth " They heard someone call him when he was going to explain why he needed that

" Dr. Mihika " Sidharth spoke with a relief on his face forwarding his hand for a hand shake, Dr. Mihika was one of the best pediatrician he knew , She was Shanvi's friend and Sidharth knew Shanvi saw the messages once he saw her.

" What's the matter, Shanvi spunded tensed " She spoke

" I am so glad you came at such a short notice doctor, there's a girl, hardly..... " Sidharth stopped looking at Shehnaaz because he wanted confirmed age of the child.

" 1 month approximately " She spoke understanding what he was wanting to ask

" She is suffering from Cyanotic CHD, we have stabilised her for the time being but she is critical, Echo, ECG are done, reports will take another 10 minutes and we need to operate " Sidharth explained and Shehnaaz gasped, although she was a doctor in fact a cardiothoracic surgeon herself yet she was scared to even imagine that little soul on the OT table opened up for the doctors to slice her open

" I will just change and come to the NICU " Dr. Mihika spoke and Went to change inside the room alloted for doctors.

" Sidharth " Shehnaaz spoke, her voice vulnerable enough to let him know she was broken, way more than she would have imagined herself to be

" I can't promise you Shehnaaz , but I will do everything I can " Sidharth spoke, his eyes were distant and Shehnaaz has never saw him this Emotionless

" Chal Ek second " She spoke getting up and holding his hand to which he looked at her shocked,  it was almost after 8 days he felt her touch and he was ready to let it go, let everything go and just keep her all to himself

He wondered how did she lived so many years loving him selflessly, he was turning selfish in love already, he loved her he knew, this distance just increased his feelings tenfold and she had lived her entire life loving him

" It will hurt you Again Shehnaaz " He whispered so scared to even hear it, it was his nightmare to hurt her yet it was him who always ended up hurting her.
