Today is the day. The day of the BET Awards and I’m nervous as hell. It’s 5 in the morning and I’m at the venue, the Nokia Theatre. I haven’t gotten any sleep because we need to do a dry run of the performance with Trey. “Ok let’s try it again” I said. “You know I thought about creeping so you could a dose of how I feel” I sang. “No that’s not it” I’m just getting really frustrated right now. “Hey don’t worry” Trey said. “You’ll do fine you just need to relax that’s all” I took a deep breath and let it out. “You’re right” I said. “Ok guys let’s take it from the top”

Trey and I went back to my house to get ready we agreed that we would arrive together and well the Pack would meet us there. I was putting the finishing touches on outfit for the show when Trey came in the room. “You look beautiful” he said. “Thank you” I said. “Ok let’s go we need to head out” We just had to pick up Mama April and Forrest at their hotel. “Who’s ready partay” Forrest said. “Not you” April said. “Sit your ass down” I laughed at Forrest. That’s all Forrest cares about the parties. As we neared the venue we could hear music blaring in the distance. We pulled up to the entrance. Trey’s security came and opened the door for us. We got out and got onto the carpet. As we stepped out the cameras immediately started flashing. “Trey over here” the camera people shouted. “Leah right here” We just stood there on the carpet and smiled. We saw Terrence J and Rocsi from 106 and Park motioning us over for an interview. “Hey Terrence” I said giving him a hug and he returned it. “You look beautiful Ms. Lady” he said. “Ok let’s do this interview” “Ok we’re back live in 5, 4, 3,2, 1” the camera man said. “Welcome back to the arrivals here on the red carpet at the 2010 BET Awards” Rocsi said. “This place is so lively right now. In the next hour or so we’re gonna have the most anticipated award show of the year. Standing here with me on the carpet is none other than the new first couple of R&B music, Trey Songz and Leah Clearwater” The camera shifted to us. “Hey Rocsi how are you” I said. “I’m good baby” “Leah tonight you are going into the BET Awards with 3 nominations. Best Female R&B Artist, Best Collaboration, Best New Artist and Best Video. How do you feel about that” “I feel great. I am so honored tonight to be in such great categories with so many other talented artistes and if I don’t win tonight I would be glad if any of the other nominees win” I said. “Well that’s good. You’re being good sportsman I mean sportswoman” she said laughing. “So Trey let me get to you right” Terrence said. “You and Leah are in some of the same categories for your various videos how would you guys feel if the other wins” “Well I actually don’t have a problem because whoever wins the other still gets a trophy so we’re all leaving with something” he said. “Leah let me back to you right now” Rocsi said. “Your cousin, Emily Young has announced her pregnancy how do you feel about Emily being pregnant” Damn it. I have to act as if I’m happy for Emily. “Well I’m very happy for them you know. I’m happy that they’ve have created this life and I think they’re gonna great parents” I said. “So how do you guys plan on celebrating tonight” Rocsi asked. “Well I have several after parties I have to be at. So I’ll be up and about you know I got my mom with me and my brother” Trey said. Rocsi looked over at where Forrest and Mama April were standing. “Hey mom” Terrence said. “Hi” she said. “Well Trey, Leah thank you for your time and enjoy your evening and I wish you good luck” Terrence said “Thank you the pleasure is all mine”
We got into the theatre and it was packed with people. Trey, April and I quickly found our seats and got settled in. We were sitting with the Pack. I saw everyone was there including Sam. I looked at Emily and saw she was wearing black. She seemed to be showing. I looked away to avoid myself getting angry. “The 2010 BET Awards will be going live in the next 5 minutes” I was so excited to be here. “Welcome to the 2010 BET Awards” the announcer said. “Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome your host for the evening Queen Latifah” A screen moved revealing Queen Latifah dressed in a black dress sitting on a piano. ‘Welcome I am your host for the 2010 BET Awards thank you” she said. “They chose me to be the host after all these people said no” The screen started showing pictures of Mr.T, Jaleel White and Barack Obama. The audience let out a light laugh. “Someone named Johnny. Jaleel White for real” she said. “We also got some beautiful people in the house tonight. We have Alicia Keys and Swiss Beatz. And sign they make boo boos and I know she’ll be so cute if she look just like you” she sang towards Alicia Keys and Swiss Beatz. “Alicia” The audience laughed. “We have Usher who hasn’t been here since 2008 but after the show he and Chaka Khan have a date. You know he likes then older women” This woman was hysterical. She had my stomach hurting me. “I know he isn’t here tonight but is it Weezy or is it Wayne. I don’t know man Whatcha name. I know you soldier but remember to keep your soap on a rope” “Come on home we miss you” “Hey ya’ll ready to get this party started we got Diddy in the house we got Swizzy” she said. All of a sudden I heard the beat of Say Aah play. “Trey Songz” she said running across the stage. Trey had the wtf look on his face. “Trey Songz I think you’re sexy but if you really want to impress take your shirt off” she sang. Trey was hysterically laughing and so was I. “Drake you didn’t think I was gone get to you” “This is one thing I know boy you so clumsy last year you moved a stage it looked funny. I know you gone rock this tonight but please stick to rapping. I need to walk out, walk out, walk out, walk out, I need you to walk out” she said. “Oh Ma Lord we got Prince in the house tonight” Show music began to play. “You sexy mother….. whoa” She continued with her act until it was time to welcome the first presenters. “Ladies and Gentlemen please welcome KeKe Palmer” she said. KeKe Palmer walked onstage in a striking blue dress. “The first award of the night is for Best Collaboration and this year we have had some amazing collaborations so this is gonna be a tough one so here are the nominees for Best Collaboration” she said. “Best Collaboration” “Nicki Minaj feat Drake- Moment 4 Life, Beyonce feat. Lady Gaga- Video Phone, Leah Clearwater feat. Trey Songz- Enough Of No Love, Trey Songz feat. Leah Clearwater- Bottoms Up” “And the BET Award for Best Collaboration goes to………………………..” she said. “Trey Songz feat Leah Clearwater- Bottoms Up” she screamed. Trey immediately got up and kissed me. I didn’t win but hey I was happy for Trey and for us. I hugged Seth and Jake and Rachel and Kim. Trey hugged Mama April and Forrest as well. Trey and I went up on the stage hand in hand to receive our award. The crowd went crazy when we got up there. KeKe handed us both our awards and we went to the podium to give our acceptance speeches. “Wow” Trey said. “I’ve always wanted one. First off I would just lie to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ it’s been a long time coming. I would like to thank my mother” he said pointing to Mama April in the crowd. “I would like to thank Leah” he said bringing me forward. “She was the one who really made this track great. So I wanna thank her. I love you boo” he said. “I love you too tiger” He placed a soft kiss on my lips and added a little tongue. We quickly remembered we were on live camera. “I would like thank my label, management, my fans. Thank you” The audience applauded lightly. I stepped to the podium to give my speech. “I would like to thank God, I would like to thank my management, my fans and my Pack brothers I love you guys so much thank you” I said and Trey and I left the stage hand in hand. We hugged each other tightly as soon as we got backstage. We posed for a couple pictures. We got back to our seats and Mama April gave both Trey and I a hug. “Congratulations baby” Mama April said and she did the same with me. We sat down and continued to enjoy the show.
