4.6k wordsYou and Hayden go to the same college, but you've hated each other since high school. Even though you don't care about him and don't see the point in hating him, he hates you, but at the same time he's hiding something from you.
Hayden walks into college, talking to his group of friends in the hallway. He turns his head and looks at you as he's having a conversation with his friends, and the two of you stare at each other for a few seconds. His eyes look at you with an unknown hatred as if you were the devil himself. His friends notice that he's staring and point it out.
"Hey, who are you staring at? Do you have a thing for her or something?" a friend of his says, as the other friends chuckle.
"Nah, not at all, I just find them irritating," he replies, trying hard to seem casual about the situation, but you can sense the tension and hatred in his voice, and you can tell that he's not the type to let go of a grudge easily.
You roll your eyes and turn around to walk the other way, though you got stopped by a girl in your class who was smiling widely. Ugh, Maddie.
"Hey, girly! So, you're coming to the party on Saturday, right?" She said all excited as she made an annoying chewing sound with her bubblegum.
Her annoying, gum-chewing face is something you can't stand. She's always coming up to you to talk about meaningless crap when all you want is to be left alone. You want to say no, but this is probably the only party on the weekend where you'll maybe find a cute guy or two, so you suck it up and just say, "Yeah, sure, I guess..."
Madeline giggles, "It's going to be soo fun, all our high school friends will be there too. And remember that cute guy I brought last year? He's coming!" She says, and you just wish she'd shut up. She keeps on rambling on about how fun it'll be and how she can't wait to see everyone again.
"What cute guy?" You asked with furrowed brows.
She giggles again, but when she notices your face, she quickly stops.
"Last year, I brought this hot guy. You don't remember?" she asks, but then her eyes follow over to Hayden and her smile suddenly drops. You look over your shoulder to see him walk over beside an empty seat, staring at you.
"Him? Seriously?" You sighed before rolling your eyes. "He's not even that cute."
"Oh no? Not cute? Pffftt, just wait till you meet him again, you'll be drooling all over him," she says.
Hayden walks over to his seat, glancing at you with unknown hatred still, and he sits down as if he's trying to ignore you.
"Trust me. I know him." You told her as you glared at him with eyes full of hatred.
"Then you know how hot and charming he is. Seriously." Madeline says, getting a bit annoyed at your reactions, "Oh come on, he can't be THAT bad, right?"
"Whatever. I'm not interested, never will be. He's all yours."
Madeline gasps and her eyes open wide, almost as if you just told her something unbelievable. "Wait, you're not interested? But why? He's perfect, you should be begging him to go out with you."
