The Cupboard Under The Stairs
June 23rd 1991

Harry Potter was woken up suddenly in his room, which was actually the cupboard under the stairs, by his Aunt Petunia, who opened the vent and yelled at Harry to get up out of bed and started banging on the door

Up, get up now! yelled Petunia

Harry then rubbed his eyes and put on his glasses, he then he heard the sound of thumping as his cousin Dudley was jumping on the stairs

Wake up cousin, we're going to the zoo!! Dudley yelled

Harry then got out of the cupboard, but not before Dudley pushed him back into the cupboard, he then walked into the kitchen and saw his Aunt Petunia wishing his cousin Dudley a happy birthday which was today, she then instructed Harry to cook breakfast

Why don't you just cook the breakfast, and try not to burn anything! said Petunia

Yes, Aunt Petunia said Harry

Harry then started cooking the eggs and bacon, while Petunia led her son, over to see his birthday with his eyes closed, as he opened them he saw loads of presents in the living room, he was surprised to them but wanted to know how many there were

How many are there? asked Dudley his father

36, I counted them myself answered Vernon

36?!, but last year I had 37!! yelled Dudley

well some of them are quite a big bigger than last year said Vernon

I don't care how big they are!! yelled Dudley

Harry then rolled his eyes, he couldn't believe how rude and spoiled Dudley was being, however his parents didn't even seem to care about how he was acting, they encouraged it in fact after Dudley's little tantrum Petunia assured him he'd get two new presents when they get to the zoo.

Now, now this is what we're going to do, when we go out we're going to buy you two new presents, how's that pumpkin? Petunia asked

That's great, can I open my presents now mum? Dudley

Of course you can said Petunia

Dudley then opened up his birthday presents, which included a lot of new toys, a VCR for the TV in his room, and a new bicycle, after opening the presents, the phone rang so Vernon went to answer it, turns out it was their neighbour Mrs Figg she called to say
she wasn't feeling well which she couldn't come with them to the zoo to be Harry's chaperone, and Petunia and Vernon couldn't call anyone else as every neighbour in Privet Drive had plans, Harry knew of one family who could look after him, he could ask the Harrows to go with them that way he could be with them and he and Henry could see other again.

Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, what about the neighbours across the street? asked Harry

You stay out of this, boy! Vernon scolded

No, no Vernon he's right, we can just ask the neighbours across the street said Petunia

That's a brilliant idea, What are their names again?, the Harrods, The Harlets? asked Vernon

The Harrows Harry corrected him

How is it that you know that? asked Petunia

Harry had to come up with a quick lie as The Dursleys didn't know that he knew The Harrows and he and Henry had been meeting secretly for 3 years, luckily he was able to come with something believable.

It's on their mailbox said Harry

Alright, let's go get ready said Petunia

The Dursleys left the room and headed upstairs to get ready to go out, this gave Harry the opportunity to run across the street to tell the Harrows about his relatives coming, he then frantically knocked on the door until Wendy, Oliver and his friend Henry and answered the door
