"I'm fucking sick of this; I can't do another full moon alone!" Nick easily flipped his desk, his rage taking control of him. "I need to find her!" My dramatic Alpha howled in frustration as he swiped the pictures from his walls and ripped open his throw pillows. This was a regular, once a month, event for us.

"Stop breaking things; you're acting like a female."

"Excuse me?" He turned around; his eyes pitch black from my insult. "You do not speak to your Alpha like that. You are my Beta, learn your place."

Instinctively my head tilted and bowed in submission with the power behind his words. "Alpha, you know I mean you

no disrespect. Please put the wolf away."

He shook his head and took a deep breath. His blue eyes came back to life as he set his chair upright and flopped down in it. Pausing for a moment of silence, his eyes grew wider with sorrow. His mind was taking him somewhere I didn't want to understand. I held my tongue, giving him time to think in peace as I stood straight and waited for him to come back to reality.

"It's getting worse Tianna," he finally admitted after twenty minutes.

"You're going to find her. Your mate is out there looking for you too." Rubbing his arm, I attempted to reassure him but he only shook his head.

"The pack needs a Luna. I need my Luna." The weakness in his voice made me ache for my leader; he had to stay strong.

"And you'll get her. Please just be patient, the pack is starting to feel your pain and worry."

The energy shifted and I knew he was in a different place, a darker part of his mind, pulling at him – taunting him. My own mind instantly reacted to his shift, trying to pull up memories and events I had long ago locked far away into the deepest part of my mind. I could never fully go back to that place of despair; it would kill me. We were

moving onto a new topic – a topic I didn't enjoy – whether I liked it or not.

"They shouldn't have died." His words made my heart ache but I ignored it, it was always best to just ignore the feelings and shove them down deep.

"No they shouldn't have but you can't focus on the death of your parents anymore." I pulled on my braid in frustration. "Yes, you were not ready to take the title as an Alpha at the time but that was five years ago Nick. You have become one of the most powerful and feared leaders since then. You are the reason this pack has thrived, you protect us and love us. See that," I practically begged him.

"You don't know what it's like." He shook his head at me and I couldn't bite back my growl of frustration. "Sorry Tee." He sighed and opened his arms for me as he stood. "I didn't mean it like that. You know how my wolf gets."

Rolling my eyes, I hugged him. There was never, ever anything romantic about our relationship. We saw each other as friends and loved each other as family – nothing more. I rested my head on his shoulder as I relaxed a little before lightening the subject.

"I'm not cleaning this mess up again."

"I'll help this time." He chuckled at me.

Shaking my head, I climbed off his lap and we got to work. In a matter of minutes, the room was back to its original glory with a few more holes and rips.

"Don't forget I'm going to the border this afternoon to pick up Alpha Wilson and his family. He wants to invoke part of the treaty, apparently there have been a large number of deaths from his pack and his men need proper training from us."

"How many?"

"I don't know; you two can talk details. I'm just the gofer."

"I would never compare you to a normal gofer. More like a ninja gofer." Nick mockingly chopped at the air before kicking his leg up high.
