The knock at the door filled both Kabir and Riya with a sudden surge of panic. Their faces were pale, their minds a whirl of confusion and uncertainty.
Ashi's voice came on the other side of the door, "Riya, are you awake? Hurry up and come downstairs for breakfast, and then you have to go shopping."
"Be right there," Riya muttered, feeling her heart pounding in her chest. She quickly leaned over to Kabir and kissed him on the cheek, hoping that it made him feel less afraid and more at ease.
Kabir's body seemed to loosen up a bit, and his face looked a little less panicked when Riya kissed him. He nodded to her and said, "Be careful, my love."
Kabir quickly gets dressed and exits Riya's room without being seen by anyone. Riya comes downstairs, pretending to be none the wiser about the marriage.
As Riya comes downstairs, Ashi says, "There you are, finally. Come on down to breakfast. We've been waiting for you."
