"I-I was just...at school. Yeah. That's it." Keefe stammered. But, just after he said it, Monty bounded between Keefe's legs and started barking at Cassius. Keefe winced, knowing he had been busted.

"You are grounded. For two months. Now, give me that...monstrosity." Cassius said, glaring at Monty, who whimpered.

"Monty's not a monstrosity! What are going to do to him?!" Keefe picked Monty up.

"Oh, simply...dispose of him. Now, give it to me and go to your room."

"What?! Dispose!? You can't do that!" Keefe cried. He was horrified. Would his dad actually kill Monty? He was so cute! ..right?

"Keefe. Give. The dog. To me. Now." Cassius growled.

"I WILL NEVER LET YOU HURT HIM!" Keefe shouted.

He turned around and ran out the door, ignoring the shouts coming from inside the house.

He was never going back.

Keefe jumped into his car and sped down the street to the Vackers house. He had to get Sophie and go.

Keefe was nervous. What would Sophie say? Would she be mad? Disappointed?
And...what about his dad? What if he found them? What would he do to them?

Keefe had to make sure he never found them. They had to go far away. Start new.
And Keefe knew where they could go.

"Keefe."
Keefe turned around, trembling at the sound of his fathers voice.
"Yes, daddy?" He asked in a small voice.
"I am leaving tomorrow to Hawaii. Unfortunately, I have not found you a babysitter. They probably all hate you." Cassius said, regarding Keefe with cold eyes. "So I have to take you with me. We leave tomorrow at 5 am. Make sure you are packed by then."
Cassius left.

"Keefe. Wake up. It's time to leave."
Keefe sat up and rubbed his eyes sleepily.
He stumbled out his bed and got dressed quickly. After grabbing his suitcase, he walked out his bedroom.

•-•

Keefe peered out the taxi window at Hawaiis beautiful beaches.
Click clickety click. Cassius had been typing on his computer the whole trip, even in the plane. When Keefe had asked him what he was doing, he just shot him a glare and told him to shut up and mind his own business.
Keefe still didn't really understand what he had meant by that.
Keefe sighed loudly.
"Can't you be quiet?!" Cassius snapped, "just look out the window or something!"
"But daddy, I'm too small to see properly." Keefe replied, stretching up as far as he could to show his dad.
"I don't care! We're almost there anyways."

•-•

Keefe dumped his stuff in his dusty room and looked at the beach longingly. It was so close...
"Keefe. I have a meeting in five minutes." Cassius said from behind him. Keefe turned around to face his father.
"Just...do whatever, but don't disturb me."
Keefe's father said, glaring accusingly at him. Keefe's eyes widened in excitement.
"Can I go to the beach?" He jumped up and down.
"Sure. Don't drown. Too much paperwork." Cassius said, then turned around and left.
Keefe quickly got dressed in his bathers.

•-•

Keefe sat in the pristine water, watching the other tourists on the beach. He was kind of bored. He had no one to play with.
Two small girls about his age walked up the beach, laughing and talking. One had silky blonde hair and brown eyes with golden flecks in them. The other had dusty brown hair with pink glasses. Both girls were wearing their bathers.
"Race you to the water!" The blonde cried.
They both ran to the water near Keefe.
The blonde looked at him with a confused expression on her face. She was probably wondering why he was here with no one.
Keefe looked down, embarrassed.
The blonde whispered something to the other girl.
"Sure." The one with glasses said.
The blonde turned to Keefe, who was trying not to stare at her. She was beautiful.
"I'm Sophie. This is Kaitee." She smiled.
"I-Im Keefe." He replied.
"Do you want to play with us?"
"Sure."
They played and talked. Keefe found out more stuff about them, like how they were going to Disney Land tomorrow, and that they lived in the same country as him.
When the sun had started to sink in the sky and they had built a whole city in the sand, a familiar figure appeared next to Keefe.
"Keefe."  Cassius said.
"Hi daddy! Do you want to play with us? This is Sophie, and this is-"
"No. I do not want to play with you. Why didn't you come home? I ate dinner without you. Your grounded." He glared at Keefe.
"I-Im s-sorry daddy.." Keefe looked down, tears filling his eyes. It was the first time he had been grounded. Sophie looked at Keefe with pity etched on her face.
"Mr. Keefe's dad, would you like to play with us? This is Kaitee. Can Keefe please stay a bit longer? We're leaving tomorrow to go to Disney Land, so we won't see Keefe-"
"Well then, you better go home as well. You have a big day tomorrow. So does Keefe. Goodbye, girls." Cassius looked down and stepped on a bunch of little mounds in the sand.
"Heyyyy!! That was the graveyard! I worked so hard on that!" Kaitee protested.
Keefe sniffled. "It's alright, Sophie. I better go. Bye Sophie. Bye Kaitee."
Cassius grabbed Keefe's arm and yanked it up. Keefe cried out.
"Ow daddy! Your hurting me!"
"I have a meeting soon. Let's go." Cassius hissed in Keefe's ear.
"Hey! Stop it! Let Keefe go!" Sophie stood and shouted at Cassius, who dropped Keefe's arm.
"If you have a meeting, then go to it! My mummy told me that she would come and get us when we have to go back! Me and Kaitee will take care of Keefe! Just..Just go, you GRUMPY OLD ADULT!" Sophie yelled.
Cassius and Sophie stared at each other for a long time.
"Fine," Cassius snapped, "but don't be long."
He stalked back to the house.
While Kaitee rebuilt the graveyard, Sophie hugged and comforted a crying Keefe.

Two chapters in a day let's gooo 😁😁
Your welcome.

Seriously though...this chapter was sadder than I thought it would be.
I kinda wanna punch Cassius now.

But also.. 1054 words!!! My longest chapter!! 😊😊🥳

Anyways, do you like the story so far? I am thinking of finishing it soon. Honestly, I had no idea how to finish it at first, but after reading other books, I figured it out.

By the way, my sister has started a new book! It's called Yeesh, you're hot fireboy. (Don't ask 🤭) I think it's on my profile.
It's about a French guy going to an English camp, and he doesn't know much English. There are a few French words, but it's translated below them so you won't be confused.
So just...check it out 🤷‍♀️
