───────── ౨ৎ ─────────The warmth of their deepening bond surrounded them as they continued their dinner. The candles flickered gently, casting shadows that danced across their faces.
Mina, still digesting Y/n's revelation, couldn't help but feel a growing curiosity about the details of Y/n's past.
"Y/n" Mina began hesitantly, "where was the orphanage you grew up in? You mentioned some of the memories being nostalgic, but you didn't say much about the place itself."
Y/n's expression grew distant as she thought back to the old building.
"It was an old, large house on the outskirts of town. It wasn't in great shape, and things were always breaking down. But it had a certain charm to it, despite everything. The place got severely damaged about 22 years ago. There was a fire, and most of the building was destroyed."
Mina's eyes widened, her hand instinctively tightening around her fork. "A fire? 22 years ago? Y/n, I... I think I know that orphanage."
Y/n looked at Mina, her brow furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Mina took a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly. "I was one of the survivors of that fire too. I was so young, but I remember it clearly. The chaos, the fear... I was adopted shortly after the incident."
Y/n's eyes widened in shock. "Mina, you're adopted too?"
Mina nodded slowly, her expression a mixture of disbelief and realization.
"Yes, I am. I didn't remember much about the orphanage itself, just flashes of memories. I always thought it was something I would never fully understand. But now, hearing your story, it feels like pieces of a puzzle coming together."
Y/n felt a wave of emotions crashing over her. "I can't believe this. All these years, and we never knew we shared this connection."
Mina's eyes softened with empathy. "It's surreal, isn't it? To think we both survived that tragedy and ended up finding each other all these years later."
Y/n nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "It is. I never thought I'd meet someone who understood what it was like. And to think we've been friends all this time without knowing..."
As the evening grew late and the conversation drifted to lighter topics, Y/n suddenly felt a sharp sting in her chest. She tried to hide it, standing up slowly and grabbing her chest, hoping Mina wouldn't notice.
"Are you okay, Y/n?" Mina asked, her voice calm but her eyes sharp, noticing the subtle change in Y/n's demeanor.
Y/n forced a smile, waving her hand dismissively. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just needed to stretch a bit."
Mina pretended not to see anything out of the ordinary but couldn't shake off the suspicion. Her keen eye for detail had caught Y/n's brief moment of discomfort.
As Y/n sat back down, Mina continued the conversation as if nothing had happened, but her mind was already racing with concern.
"So, Y/n" Mina said, steering the topic back to something less heavy, "do you remember any of the staff or other kids from the orphanage? Anyone else you stayed in touch with?"
