She was almost done with the house painting but she was still so far away at the same time. And this one was one she didn't want to sell to the public, it was special to her. It had been two hours of her working on the painting of the house and she felt so accomplished.

Going on her phone she took a picture of a blank canvas and tagged her new Instagram account on her personal one that all of Morgan's fans followed, and soon enough the notifications started to roll in. Even though she was in the same house as him, she texted Morgan.

Laney: Want to go on Instagram live?
Morgan: Laney I got arrested. Can't exactly do that as my first thing back

Laney laughed out loud reading his text and stared at the canvas in front of her. But she was wiped out, putting her brushes down, she walked towards Morgan.

He put his guitar down once he saw her as she spoke, "Can we go get a shake?".

He nodded, "Yeah I'm about to go insane".

She changed into regular sweatpants and looked at Morgan, "Remember when you bought me these because you ruined mine?".

He laughed, "I felt so bad, but look at you now baby".

She smiled as they walked to his truck and she could feel it getting chillier as the sun was beginning to set, which made a frown appear on her face, "I don't want you to go".

He gave her a big kiss, "It won't be for long," and then proceeded to get in the truck.

As he began to drive, Laney put on some music and crossed her legs, "Did you decide what to do with Kate?".

He chuckled knowing the intent of mistaking her name like he did with Jack, "Not sure babe... it feels like a trick. I might need to have my lawyer draft up a written guideline. Now, what kind of shake do you want?".

She nodded, hearing him reaching out to someone who he was previously engaged to, even though she encouraged it and was for it, was still hard. Leslie told her that they grew to hate each other but she couldn't help but wonder if they could somehow develop feelings for each other, and it wasn't something she wanted to find out the hard way.

The neon red sign was illuminated as they pulled up to Patty's Drive-Thru, and Morgan placed his order first, "Can I get two large fries, a cookie dough shake and..."

"A banana peanut butter shake!" Laney exclaimed.

Morgan pulled up to the drive-thru and the girl handed him their food. Laney gave him a thumbs up once she saw that the order of fries were in the bag.

"You deserve the best," he randomly blurted making her panic.

She blinked not knowing what to say, "What...?".

"You deserve nothing but the best. I just hope you know that and are getting that from me," he explained as he sipped on his shake, "Katie is bound to make life a shitshow".

Laney smiled placing a fry in his mouth before sipping on her own shake, "Was she really that bad? I mean you were engaged".

"She wasn't always that bad. She just became more demanding and we hated each other at the end. I guess different life expectations and she... well she wanted someone else anyways," he reminisced.

Laney took a minute to observe his emotions as she could tell he was still hurt by this girl. She couldn't help but think about asking if he would ever consider going back to her but she knew better than that. She knew better than to let Katie make her insecure.

After he parked he put his hand on her thigh and gave her a small kiss on the lips before proceeding to get out of the truck. Laney got out of the truck closed the door and walked into the house.
