chapter sixteen, I could never have.

ROSE HATED THIS. She was tired of this ongoing hectic world she lived in. Don't get her wrong, she loved life, but she was tired of not knowing where her and Aaron stood.

At what point did the lines between enemies and acquaintances blur? Then, at what point did acquaintances and friends blur? She wasn't sure. Then begged another question, when did the lines between acquaintances and friends blur back to enemies? Rose wished she knew the answer, her life would be much easier then.

Somehow, Rose and Aaron's newly civil relationship turned back into what it used to be: rude, annoying and disrespectful.

Truly, Rose didn't know what to do. Her work, although she loved it dearly, had turned into a place of toxicity. Rose hated it. Of course, the only thing she really truly hated was that Aaron was rude.

Roses mind went somewhere she never thought it would go, should she stay at the moulin rouge? Was it really worth it? It was her home, yet her hell in a way. So, should she stay or should she go? Rose didn't know. Should she surrender against Aaron and leave? Should she give up the role of Satine to Ashely, who would undoubtedly do her justice? These questions plagued Roses mind, and she grew tired of them very fast.

Today, Rose decided against thinking off all of that. She wanted to focus on the show, and especially since she wanted to treasure every moment if she decided to leave.

The show, as always, started off strong and fast. The crowd was amazing, as was the cast. Everyone, including Rose, put their all into the performance. They were truly amazing.

It was now Act Two, more specifically it was time for the infamous 'Come What May', and for some reason, it felt different to Rose.

As Aaron sang his first few lines, "Never knew I could feel like this. Like I've never seen the sky before. Want to vanish inside your kiss," Rose felt her heart pick up in speed, which it had never done during this.

Rose continued her acting, trying not to let the confusion on her face become noticeable.

"Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place. Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace," Rose sang, and as she did the most peculiar thing happen. She found it hard to actually act, as the way Satine was feeling in this scene....Rose felt too.

"Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste," Rose felt her heart almost leap from her chest as Aaron sang.

"It all revolves around you," The two sang in unison. And, oh, how the line absolutely resemble Roses current state. Her life did revolve around Aaron, in one way or another.

The two continued to sing, and Rose felt her heart pick up more and more as the song went on. Rose blushed as she realized more and more about herself, about her feelings.

"But I love you."

"I love you."

"Until the end of time."

"Until the end of time," and she did. Rose truly loved Aaron and she couldn't help but wonder: would it be until the end of time? It had to be. She had never felt this intensely about someone before.

As the song closed out, Rose couldn't help but find herself enamored with Aaron. She was, once again, staring at him with this look of love. But it was different than last time. This time, she knew why.

Rose felt her heart thump in her chest, not only of her realization of love but of another, far worse realization.

Rose realized why she was so envious, so jealous of Chantelle; Chantelle could have something Rose could never have. Aaron.

Maybe, in some twisted world, she could. But in this world? No, she couldn't. At least, in her head she couldn't.

Roses world revolved around Aaron in one way or another, but Aaron's world revolved around anything but the blonde. And that crushed Rose.

The girl felt a certain panic rise in her chest, and it only grew as the show came to an end. Almost immediately after bows Rose found herself running to her dressing room, not conversing with cast members like she usually did, with tears in her eyes.

Rose could hear her heartbeat and blood running through her veins in her ear, her breathing becoming short. As soon as Rose reached her dressing room she collapsed, hyperventilating. Rose had known about panic attacks, hell she's even had some, but she never had one this bad. And it was over Aaron, she felt pathetic.

As soon as Rose ran away, Aaron, who had watched her, ran after her. He was determined to see what was wrong.

When Aaron reached her dressing room he saw Rose on the ground. It broke his heart to see her like this, so, he instantly knelt down, placing a soft hand to her back. Aaron pulled Rose to his chest, whispering to her that she was okay. Aaron could recognize the signs of a panic attack, and he was more than happy to help someone who definitely didn't deserve this much pain or panic. As Aaron held her, he couldn't help but place a soft kiss on her forehead. And on her head. And then back on her forehead.

After a few moments, Rose finally relaxed. She was still a little shaky, but for the most part, she was okay. Only then did she realize whose arms she was in.

"Why are you helping me?" Rose asked, but she couldn't bring herself to pull away from his willing touch.

"I'm not as cruel as you think I am, Rose."

"I never thought you were cruel." And it's true, she never did. She never could, anyway. He was far too perfect for that, and she was far too in love with him to think that.

The two stayed in each others arms for a few more minutes, until the awkward silence became too much. After Aaron left, Rose felt herself finally realize why she was in love with him.

He was so perfect, it was almost sickening. He was so kind, it seemed as if he was from a book. He was so handsome, he brought girls to their knees with one look. And he was so caring, that Rose didn't want to fall for anyone else. She was happily in love, until, of course, she wasn't. She realized that her love for Aaron would be torturous for her, but at this point in time, she couldn't bring herself to care all that much.
