It's always so quiet when it gets dark, save for the occasional drunks or workaholics. She looks out the window, the lights in the distance brightening up the sidewalks and other buildings. Pay day is in a week...

If she gets paid the same amount she did last time, then she will have enough to get one of those nice school bags since the one she is using right now is tearing in some places. No matter how much she sews up the holes, they just keep coming back.

Maybe she can get the pink one she saw at the store the other day! It looked so cute, and it had tons of pockets, he would never have to worry about not being able to fit any of her papers or pens! She rests her head on her hands, feeling a thousand times lighter just thinking about it.

She is snapped out of her daydream by the sound of the bell. She looks up and starts her greeting.

"Welcome in,"

Her eyes meet red ones, and she is instantly on edge. Bakugou walks in with both of his hands in his pockets, practically stomping into the store. He glares at her, stopping in front of the counter.

"The pens. How much are they."

She pauses, wondering why he's back so late. She responds,

"Um, fifty cents for each one."

The blonde grabs the entire cardboard display, the pens wiggling in their spots as he puts it down in front of her. Uraraka doesn't say anything as she scans each bunny pen, before saying the total, looking back at him.

"Forty-five twenty is your total, will you be-?"

He slams the cash on the counter, grabbing the display and shoving it into a plastic bag, yanking it from her side of the counter, much to her annoyance.

"Keep the change."

Uraraka doesn't say anything else because he is already out the door. She scoffs but pockets the ten dollars, continuing on with the rest of her shift. If he wanted to buy the pens, then why not just buy them in front of his friends?

The rest of her shift goes by smoothly, before she switches out with another employee and goes home, ready to repeat it all over again.

He can't believe his fucking luck. His heart is pounding and as his sweaty hand grips the plastic bag, satisfaction racing through his veins. The bunny print on the pens is the exact same one as the pens he has at home.

He didn't hesitate to spend all of his saved-up allowance to buy every single one of them. He swings the bag back and forth as he walks, the smell of cigarettes clinging to his clothes.

Since that round faced girl didn't give that idiot any cigarettes, most of the day was spent on a hunt for some loser that would fill the need. The familiar burn in his lungs stays with him as he walks home in the dark. When he gets to the front, there are no lights shining through the windows.
