How would things have turned out if they continued to be friends through their childhood instead of drifting apart? Would Izuku not have found himself around the wrong type of people? Would he have been able to continue going to school, like everyone else? Would his life be moving forward?
He grips Katsuki's hand in his own, his fingers finding their usual spot below the blondes knuckles, the pad of his thumb against the small, indented scar in his skin. He wants to ask how he got it, to know if he even knows he has it. Is it something only Izuku knows about?
The weight of that single thought surprises even him, and he focuses on gently swinging their hands together instead. Katsuki is talking, and Izuku lets the words wash over him, in and out of his brain in a smooth stream, unlike the fiery heat beating at his back as they walk together.
"-And it pissed me the fuck off because I spent so much fucking money on that shit! And not just from my fucking allowance, but from clearing that old fucks yard while he was staring me down like I was gonna burn his shitty house down!"
Izuku nods along, his eyes never leaving him as he listens, trying his best to ignore the buzzing from Katsuki's phone. It's been going off ever since they got out the door, and Izuku has glanced at his pocket enough times that it should be obvious to even the few people they've passed on the other side of the road, but the blonde hasn't said anything about it, so Izuku doesn't either.

"They didn't give you a refund or anything? You can call and ask!"
Katsuki huffs, giving him a short glare, their hands continuing to swing.
"Thats the first thing I did, Deku, but those assholes wouldn't fucking listen! I was on the phone with them for a fucking hour and still no damn refund."
Katsuki grumbles, kicking a pebble on the sidewalk. Izuku watches it ricoshay off of one of the building's walls back onto one of the cracks.
"Fuck, its hot as hell."

Izuku uses his other hand to try and fan his face, but it does nothing. What he really wants right now is air conditioning, or maybe a whole tub of ice he can just sit in for a while. A cold door he can put his face against, cool water from a hose... Thinking about all of that stuff only makes him feel hotter, and he forces them out of his mind.
"Wanna take a break for a second?"
Katsuki's other hand leaves his pocket and goes to the collar of his T-shirt, pulling it away from him and back again, trying to get rid of some of the heat. Izuku had given him clothes to wear, since the blonde had said:
'There is no fucking way in hell that I'm going out in clothes that I've been sleeping in you damn nerd, who the hell-'
