"You were just standing there, it looked like you were fucking possessed or something."
Katsuki pulls him forward. Izuku grips his hand so tight his fingernails dig into the skin on the back of Bakugou's hand. They go down the stairs, and Izuku makes sure that there are no people around, taking a sigh of relief when he finds nothing but the dim streetlights on the sidewalks.
No one is around, everything is fine, no one will come out from anywhere, and if they do, Bakugou is here. Right next to him. He repeats this over and over as he walks. He glances at the boy next to him. His eyes are focused, his steps confident and unhesitant.
The longer Izuku walks, the more his thoughts calm, his body still going into overdrive. The sound of insects chirping is over the beating of his heart.
"What do ya wanna get when we get there? I don't want any sugary shit, something filling."
Izuku is brought out of his thoughts, as he stammers to answer. He feels lightheaded and his legs are shaky, but he keeps on walking, focusing on the searing heat of Bakugou's hand.
"Um, something sweet sounds good... You don't like sweet stuff, Bakugou?"
"Hell no, I had like, ten fucking cavities when I was little, I'm never touching that shit ever again."
Izuku laughs,
"I think that's because you just weren't brushing your teeth-"
"Fuck off, that wasn't the reason!"
"I'm just trying to help you face the truth, Bakugou! I'm sure if you eat sweets now, they won't give you cavities!"
"Don't talk like you know shit, dweeb, I bet you got twenty cavities, I can tell just by you mentioning sugar."
"I haven't had a single one my whole life!"
"I don't believe that for even one fucking second!"
"It's true!"
Izuku notices Bakugou starting to slow down mid conversation. He looks forward, the bright sign of the convenience store shining down on him. His stomach goes back to feeling gross, and he swallows the stuff rising in his throat.
He doesn't have much time to start backing out again because continues on, the automatic doors opening, a bell chiming. The sound alerts the person at the counter,
"Welcome in!"
Izuku immediately keeps his eyes on the ground, shifting away. Bakugou doesn't say anything either, ignoring the cashier and leading him towards the back of the store. Izuku looks back up, his eyes scanning over the various sizes and colors of the drinks.
"You want something to drink too?"
Izuku shakes his head,
"No, I don't have any money, I'm alright with getting nothing!"
He waits for Bakugou to yell at him for being so forgetful, but he just stares. A beat of silence passes, and then Bakugou says,
"Well, no shit you didn't bring any, that's not what I asked, nerd. Do you want a fucking drink."
Izuku's cheeks warm up in embarrassment and he lifts his other hand, as if to wave away the question.
"I'm okay, Bakugou! I'd feel bad if you paid for me-!"
