21. Hearts And Hurdles

Emily wrapped her arms around Y/N and kissed him. "Happy birthday, babe," she said, pulling back and resting her forehead against his.

"Thank you," Y/N smiled, feeling the warmth of her affection.

"Let's go down; your mom and Mabel are waiting," Emily said. Y/N nodded, and they headed downstairs.

As they walked down, Y/N was greeted with a chorus of "Happy Birthday" from his mother and Mabel. "Thank you, Mabel. Thank you, Mama," he said, standing next to his mom, who placed an affectionate kiss on his hand.

He cut the cake, and they celebrated together for a while, sharing laughter and stories before eventually heading to their beds. The house quieted down as everyone settled in for the night, but Emily found herself unable to sleep. She tossed and turned, her mind racing with ideas.

It was Y/N's birthday, and she felt she needed to do something special. Hailee needed to do something special, she thought, slipping into her alternate persona. She pulled out her phone and texted Chloe, but there was no response. Growing anxious, she decided to call her instead.
"Chloe, Hey! What are you doing? Why aren't you answering my texts?

Chloe answered with a groggy voice, "What am I doing? It's 3 in the morning. I'm sleeping like normal people do."

"Oh right. I lost track of time. Anyways, I need your help..." Hailee started.

"Calm down. Let's talk tomorrow, okay? Good night," Chloe interrupted, clearly tired.

"Wait... Chloe?... Hello?" Hailee sighed as Chloe hung up the call. Now she couldn't sleep at all. She needed to plan something good. Something big, she thought, pacing the room in frustration.

Ideas swirled in her head as she imagined various ways to surprise Y/N. She wanted it to be memorable, something that would show him just how much she cared. The minutes ticked by, but sleep continued to evade her. Finally, she decided to write down a few ideas, hoping that organizing her thoughts would help calm her mind.

As the early morning light began to filter through her window, Hailee felt a sense of determination. No matter what, she was going to make Y/N's birthday unforgettable.

It was early morning. Emily was so excited that she decided to cook breakfast for Y/N and his family, making that his first surprise for today. She took a shower, wore something cute, put on Y/N's favorite scent, and headed to the kitchen, humming. She started cooking, and a sweet aroma spread all through the house, which woke up Y/N's mom. She walked into the kitchen with a smile.

"My, my! Breakfast is being prepared? Someone's really excited, hm?" she said, making Emily blush.

"Good morning. I was just... you know... thought he might like..." Emily stuttered shyly.

Y/N's mom giggled before gently tapping Emily's head. "Now don't get all flustered. He'll love it," she smiled. Emily smiled in return. Y/N's mom stood there helping Emily with little things before Emily broke the silence.

"Can... Can I ask you something?" Emily asked.

Y/N's mom raised her brow. "What's up?" she asked.

"It's more like... I need your permission for something," Emily said.

"I'm listening," Y/N's mom said.

"Can I... Can I take him out today? There are a lot of things I've planned for him," Emily said shyly.

"For the whole day?" Y/N's mom asked.

"Yeah, the whole day. And also, we might return late at night because there's a lot of things I've planned, and I really want to do this. I am really excited; I really want to take him out and..." Emily started rambling, which made Y/N's mom burst out in laughter.
