~Chapter 21~

{Shinya's POV}
"Don't" Akane said as she walked into the room. "I was just going to sit up" I said defensively. "I don't want you to hurt yourself just for my sake" she said looking out into the hallway and quietly closing the door. "You look drowsy" she said smiling, "All these pain meds make me loopy too" I said blinking slowly. "Wow, this situation has completely reversed" she said laughing. "I like it when you laugh, it's such a rare thing now a days and I think it's adorable" I said biting my lip. "Shinya I-" she said blushing. Great I screwed up! I thought mentally face palming myself. "Thanks" she said kissing me on the cheek. Now I was the one blushing. "Your laugh is even more rare than mine but when you do laugh it makes me happy" she said pushing her hair out of her face. I smiled and ran my hand through my hair. "Man it's late" Akane said looking at her watch. "It's ridiculous that I have to wait until 1 in the morning to see you" she said rubbing her eyes. "Yeah it's pretty ridiculous, but I'm just glad to see you" I said uncomfortably shifting in bed. She stayed quiet and just looked at me. "I will see if we make a deal so I can see my girlfriend more often" I said smiling at the thought of Akane being my girlfriend. She took a breath in about to say something but as soon as she understood what I said she blushed and looked down. "What? Do you not want to be my girlfriend?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "N-no of course I want to be your girlfriend, I just didn't think you thought of me the same way I do about you" she said quietly "Are you kidding, when I was in America every other thought I had was about you. And I know we didn't have a really close relationship before I left but I want to have one now" I said feeling my cheeks burn. "I want to have a relationship with you, Shinya and I'd love for you to be my boyfriend" she said smiling and blushing. "I wish you were always this drugged up" she said laughing "You're more open and honest" she said laughing really hard. "Why is it that funny?" I said confused furrowing my eyebrows. "I don't know. I'm just tired" she said wiping away a tear her smile still showing real happiness. She plopped her head down on the bed and scratched her head. "I don't want to leave but I'm so tired" she said muffled by the covers. "Uhh and I have cleaning duty tomorrow" she said resting her hands on her head. "And it doesn't help that the weather has sucked. Its been raining really hard and Elle still makes us run" she said turning her laid down head toward me, looking at me. "Well" she said standing, "I will see you tomorrow" she said pressing her soft lips against mine. "mhm" was all I could manage to hum. She smiled and spoke "Goodnight" and she walked out of the room. I rubbed my eyes and welcomed the blanket of darkness to consume me.
{Akane's POV}
I closed the door and walked quietly down the dim hallway. I thought I heard something behind me and flipped around to see no one. Paranoid I thought turning back around and walking a little further down the hall.
I was hit from behind and everything went dark.

"So Akane Tsunamori I see you have been disobeying my orders" Elle's harsh voice echoed in the dark. There was a draft and it seemed much colder. Further underground? Maybe but there's a possibility I'm not even at the base anymore. I thought wiggles around in my restraints. I instantly began to panic as I thought of the last time I was tied up. I tried to speak but my mouth was covered."mhhmfjgg!" I tried to speak. "Oh I'm sorry honey, your opinion on this matter isn't of any my concern" her cold words whispered into my ear. I jerked away trying to get as far away from her as possible. Her normal clicking of her heels wasn't there and her voice kept moving all around the room. I fought back tears, a thing I had been doing ever since Shinya left. I let them fall occasionally and hid then from the publics eye but ever since I found Shinya I promised I wouldn't cry any more because I had no reason to cry. I broke that promise, but that was because I had a reason to cry. Now I didn't cry because I knew I was strong enough not to. I jerked at my tied hands in a failed effort to get free. "I don't like competition and now that you're out of my way, lets just say you will never see Shinya again" he voice stung. Yeah right, as soon as Shinya can walk he will be looking for me, and there's no way in hell he will fall for your sorry ass. I thought feeling the rage inside me explode. There was a creek of a door and she was gone. I was left alone in my thoughts and my fears. I closed my eyes and welcomed sleep.

I walked down the hallway alone, I had no purpose.
My life meant nothing, I was only here to help destroy sibyl and free the future from the corrupt system. I heard a familiar voice behind me. It was Shinya, I turned around to see him hugging Elle and giving her an occasional peck on the lips. My tears fought my will and started to fall down my cheeks. He was laughing. A laugh that was a gift, something you earned. Something that she had not earned. Elle looked down the hall at me and yelled "Looks like I won" her shrill voice bounced off the walls. She began to make out with Shinya and he looked like he enjoyed it. I tried to walk towards them but my legs were shackled and chained to the wall. "Shinya" I whispered feeling betrayed. "SHINYA" I yelled collapsing to the ground. He still had his lips pressed on hers, them both struggling for air in-between kisses. "Please" I gasped out between sobs. I closed my eyes and forced myself to wake up.
I was now laying in bed in Shinya's arms, his cigarette and cologne sent made me feel safe. I rubbed my head on his chest and gripped his shirt tightly, never wanting to lose him. As if Shinya heard my thoughts he said "Akane, I'm yours, and no one else's. This ring signifies our love" He said holding his left hand to my face. A golden band rested on his ring finger. I interlocked my left hand into his to see my ring on my ring finger. A medium sized diamond was centered and smaller diamonds surrounded it. I looked away from Shinya's hand and looked into his eyes. His grayish bluish eyes looked into my chocolate colored ones. I could feel his warm breath and I had chills up my spine. We kissed and his lips pressed against mine.

I woke from my dream abruptly to cold water being dumped on me. I began to shiver and my teeth clicked. A new man stood in front of me. He looked very similar to Kagari and it made my stomach hurt thinking about my dead friend. "Good morning I'm Asumi, I know it's a girly name so I don't need your silly comments. Oh but it's not like you can talk so. Anyway, Elle wanted me to make sure you were cozy and you looked to happy dreaming so I couldn't help but wake you" he said smiling a very twisted and broken smile. My teeth clenched the bandana that acted like a gag. The ceiling light flickered and surged but then want back to its normal brightness. I sat in a metal chair and my thighs up were wrapped in ropes. "Aren't you a cutie" Asumi said walking towards me. He squatted to my eye level and placed his hands in my hips. He ran them up ward and stopped at my arm pits. My skin crawled and wished I was anywhere else. He was smiling and making weird noises.
"We are going to have so much fun together" he said grabbing my boobs.
