I dried my tears standing up from the door because I heard muffled screams I took a deep breath opening the door it was Jere screaming at Conrad "What the hell is your problem you have been acting like a dick all fucking summer, don't take this out on Maddy" Jere screamed there was a pause and Conrad said calmly "you don't know what you're talking about" he started walking down the hall when he stopped turned around and said "I would never take this out on Maddy" then continued walking to the stairs I went back into my room and locked the door Layed on my bed looking at the ceiling hoping Conrad doesn't knock on my door how could I have been so stupid I should have known Conrad would notice if the neighbors' dogs eye had a little more crust than the other one what was I going to do? how was I going to tell him? Do I even want to tell him? How would he react? I couldn't turn my brain off until I fell asleep
"Maddy wake up we have to go soon" Jere was whispering I opened my eyes and by his face, I could tell they were still red and puffy from crying I sat up and Jere sat next to me I looked at him and he took his thumb cleaning up my mascara from under my eyes "so are you going to tell me what happened," he said "nothing J" "come on M" I looked at him and got up going to my drawers to find a summer dress to wear to my mom's bookselling I found my white dress with blue flowers that had a slit "I'm going to change," I said to Jere "ok," he said putting on a fake smile while walking out I got dressed and then put some makeup on along with some eye drops to help with the redness I put on some converse and some vanilla perfume getting ready helps me feel good and a little more normal

I walked downstairs slowly being careful not to slip in my heels I found the boys in the living room Jere was spinning around Belly "Come on man that's my sister" Steven said I watched letting Bells have her moment because she deserved it I walked in slow trying not to catch Conrad's eyes "you look beautiful bells" I said hugging her as I pulled away I whispered "if your nervous don't be" she smiled and Jere who had just sat down did a double take getting up and looking at me shocked "You look amazing M" Jere said wide-eyed like a puppy "Thank you J you don't look to bad yourself" I said kissing him on the cheek which did not sit right with Conrad or my brother "Damm Maddy two of my best friends got to be a record"My brother says I looked at him shocked it's the second time this week he's brought up Leo, Conrad looked up at me and we made eye contact for a split second anything longer and he would see right through me
The car ride to the bookstore was quiet when we got there Susannah complimented my dress telling me how it made me look full of light Susannah had a way of making you feel like you are the most important person in the room I sat down on a cough right by some books and watched Steven and Jere try to see how many books they could hold without dropping them they where giggling like little kids I look over to see Conrad downing a glass of some alcohol I got up reluctantly walked over to him and took the bottle from his hands catching him by surprise "so your trying to get caught" I say to him poring myself a glass "I could say the same thing to you" he said taking a deep breath I looked at him slowly he turned to make eye contact we stared in each others eyes his eyes are so calm and familiar I thought to myself why does it feel like I could stare into his eyes forever "Conrad come over hear" i looked over my shoulder to see my mom waving over Conrad he finished his glass and walked over to my mom who was talking to a man with a beard and glasses on who looked around my mothers age i went to go find Jere and Steven i found them bored sitting on a couch "what are you two moping about" i said looking down at them "where bored there is nothing to do here" Steven wined I rolled my eyes and sat inbettween them
A few minutes later Conrad walked over to us "its so boring here" Steven said again said "oh we could get weed from that guy with the rainbow dash tattoo" Jere said exited "no he got arrested" Conrad said looking down at Jere "we could go into town get some ice cream" I said i really wanted some "orrr we could go to the drive in" Steven said "no i dont want to watch Belly hooking up with some guy in the back seat of his car" Jere said "Steven come on dont be a jackass where not doing that" I said shoving his shoulder "Maybe you arent but we are lets go guys" Steven said getting up taking Jere's car keys "Steven stop" i said following them out "are you guys really going to do this to belly" i said grabbing Conrads arm he kept walking i wasnt going to let them ruin this for Belly so i got in the back of Jere's jeep
When we got there Belly was leaning in for a kiss the worst possible time Steven stoped the car right next to the car and Jere and him started making kissing noises "stop it guys" I said smaking both there heads Belly was walking towards the car she opened Stevens drivers door "what the hell is wrong with you guys" she said "relax bells where just here to see the end of the movie" Jere said laughing "if you don't leave i'll send everyone your dramione fan fic" Belly said "you wouldn't" Steven said "oh i would he spends an entire chapter talking about draco's wand" Jere and Conrad where laughing "don't be embaressed draco's hot"Jere said while they where laughing i reached from the back seat grabbing the keys from the ignition "get out Steven" i said he looked at me like i wasn't serious "go back to your date belly i got this" i said getting out of the car "get out of the car now" he does and i get in the drivers seat as he gets in the back seat Belly walks back to her dates car and i drive away " you guy are dicks ruining bellys first date great job" i said "you have been such a bitch since last summer" Steven said i hit the breaks on the car it was late so there was no one on the high way "if you dont shut the fuck up about leo i will leave your ass alone on this high way " i screamed he rolled his eyes "im serious steven" i said and started driving again
When we got home everyone got out of the car i told Jere i would be inside in a minute i took a deep breath and screamed hitting the sterring wheel as i cried i dont understand why Steven can't let it go whatever story leo told him isn't the real one and it's getting harder to keep it together i got out of the car walking into the house "M" i turned to see Jere waiting for me "Jere im not in the mood im tired on sick of this please let me go to bed" i said trying to hold my tears back the best i could "ok" he said i walked up the stairs into my room got undressed and fell asleep.
