Klaus's POV

"What are we going to do?" I grumbled as Gwen, Elijah and I sat in the living room, trying to figure out a way to fix Amelia who had just gone to bed after Elijah made us sign a bonded peace treaty with the other creatures.

"She doesn't seem too far gone." Elijah said quietly as he spun the alcohol in his glass.

"Each spell she does makes her darker." Gwen sighed, rubbing her lips together in stress. "Each day she wakes up the more evil she becomes." She explained, gaining this information from all the centuries she's known Amelia and has probably heard her explain how dark magic works.

"What will happen to her later down the road?" Elijah asked quietly. "Will we have to watch our backs?"

Gwen shook her head. "No." She said truthfully. "She's not like a vampire with no humanity." She started explaining. "She has her humanity still, she knows who she loves and cares for. She just..." she tried to find a way to explain.

"She just doesn't care if she makes a right or wrong." I sighed out, finding the words for Gwen. "Her morals and judgment are clouded."

"How did this happen?" Gwen sighed out frustrated with everything. "I mean this is Amelia!" She exclaimed with an annoyed laugh. "The girl who created expression, the girl who's killed thirty plus people with just a scream." She started listing off Amelia's achievements. "So why after a thousand years is she finally being eaten alive by dark magic?"

My eyes went wide, quickly pushing myself off of the couch. The words replayed in my head, finally connecting the puzzle pieces together.

Some of it has been chipped away. Thanks to Amelia and her little fight she put up with it.

"Genevieve stabbed Amelia in the heart." I started explaining, my words coming out rushed. "When she gave me the blade to stab Rebekah she mentioned that some of it had been chipped away due to the fight Amelia put up."

Elijah set his drink down, thinking about my words as he face grew into understanding of what I was saying. "The pieces chipped off into her body." Elijah came to the realization. "And as a witch she has a much different reaction to it." He leaned his elbows onto his knees as he thought about it.

"Wait." Gwen laughed, shaking her head like she didn't believe us. "You think those small little chips entered her bloodstream and caused this?" She asked us.

"It's affects vampires by immobilizing us, putting us through mental torture and killing us if you're not an original."  Elijah started to explain as he stood up, pacing the room slowly. "Witches are known to basically ingest dark magic from an object and as long as they're strong enough they will survive within that dark magic."

"So what do we do?" Gwen gulped, meeting eyes with a Elijah with a taste of hope.

"Genevieve could do a spell." I suggested, dragging a hand over my mouth at the stupidity of my idea. "Get her to suck the dark magic out of her."

"Fuck no." Gwen scoffed, placing her hands on her hips. "Genevieve planned this, she knew this would happen." She looked at me like I was dumb. "And Amelia isn't going to let Genevieve near her."

"Amelia may have no choice." Elijah cleared his throat, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Do you two not realize that she is filled with dark magic?" Gwen scoffed loudly. "You thought she was strong before? Scary before?" She raised her brows. "That was nothing compared to what she will be now." She explained. "There is no possibility of not giving her a choice, because she will kill whoever tries to stop her."
