Klaus's POV

"You knew of her parents?" I questioned, my tone hard as I stared my real father down in a threatening manner. Amelia does not tell people about her parents, it's rare of her to talk about them let alone tell people their names.

Ansel glanced over at me, looking tired towards my unknown hatered for him. "Tabitha helped my pack with a few spells, she was a sweet young lady." He explained, looking back to Amelia's sharp glare. "I met Julian when Tabitha had become pregnant." He said quietly. "With you." He finished, not backing down from Amelia's stare.

I knew Amelia's stare all too well, she was fighting the urge to kill him herself. She was protective over her parents, she did not want them to be known in fear of their burial sight being found. "You were the pack she would tell stories of." Amelia spoke, her voice calmer than her stare.

I wanted to kill him the moment I met him, but the way he was angering Amelia was only making my urge to kill him even stronger. I drew my lips in a straight line, curling my fist into a ball. "Nik, don't." She sighed before leaving the conversation and walking off to the orchid.

Ansel gave a deep breath, struggling to bond with either of us. I unrolled my fists, following Amelia as I sent a glare towards my father. "I can't help but wonder!" Ansel spoke loudly as we walked off, following slowly behind us. "Your mother was very sweet and not one to dabble in dark magic." He spoke and I could see Amelia's back tense. "You seem to be the exact opposite." It was almost like he was trying to egg Amelia on.

"Being too nice is what got my mother murdered." Amelia spat, not bothering to turn around and look at Ansel. "We're here." She spoke quickly as we approached a large tree surrounded by vervain.

I drew my lip in, sucking it in between my teeth as I gave a sharp breath. My mother and her stupid tricks, knowing we can't get to the orchid without torturing ourselves with vervain. "That bitch." Amelia seethed quietly as she narrowed her eyes towards the tree.

"I can help you two." Ansel offered, walking towards the large tree. Every inch was covered in vervain, there was no way Amelia and I could get through without weakening ourselves.

"And how can we trust you're willing to help us?" I questioned, my paranoia getting the best of me. "It was dear Esther who woke you up." I hummed.

"Gather it." Amelia spoke between her teeth, giving Ansel a cold look. "If you attempt any type of game, I will kill you myself." She threatened in a chilling tone.

The mention of her parents has made her angry, she wanted to spill blood and I could tell she was hoping Ansel would move the wrong way so she could rip his head off. I wanted to trust him, believe that he really just wants to get to know me but my mother was never one to gift me something out of the kindness of her heart.

Ansel rubbed his lips together, taking a deep breath of patience towards our attitude before he went to the tree to find the orchid hidden within the vervain.

"Do you think he means well?" I asked Amelia quietly as we watched him.

Amelia shrugged her shoulders, taking her eyes off of Ansel to look towards me. "I don't know." She muttered, her brown eyes glistening in the sunset. "It's hard to trust anyone your mother has awoken from the dead." She sighed disappointingly and I could tell she wasn't just talking about my father but of Kol too.

"You should talk to him." I said unexpectedly. Amelia looked at me like I grew two more heads, honestly even those words shocked me myself. "He's your best friend, you can trust him. I might not but he wouldn't do anything as long as you're on his side." I said as I watched Ansel bend down to pick up the orchid. "You know how much Kol hates feeling left out, he might retaliate just because of that." I shrugged my shoulders.
