It's five in the morning and like always Chandni woke up in a second.
It didn't take her long enough to do so, she is so used to getting up this early that now it's a habit for her.

Getting up at five, then working the whole day and finally sleeping at eleven, that's her set routine.
She has no complaints about it whatsoever, she is just glad that she is at least in a safe place.

It isn't really the safe, but safer than the street, so she works with it.

Quickly getting up, she picked up her mattress from the kitchen floor and went to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
Picking up her one tiny bag from the corner of the kitchen, she took out her clothes for the day.

It wasn't much of a choice given that she had only three pairs of kurti and leggings, but it was enough for her.

She never desired for more, sure she hoped for it, but she never desired it.
But that hope doesn't take much importance in her life.
She has learned to live a life of compromise instead of hope.

The only belief she carries is, it's better to live in compromise than hopes, atleast you will never be disappointed.

Quickly taking a bath and getting ready, she came out of the bathroom, to see that it was still five thirty.
She first prayed and then started with her daily work.

It involved mopping the whole two storey bungalow followed by preparing a breakfast for her Chachi, Shilpa Singh and her cousin, Ritika Singh.
She quickly finished doing it, and by the time her chachi and cousin came out of their rooms, her routine for the morning was done.

Her Chachi gave her a nod, before starting with her breakfast, while her cousin never bothered to talk to her.

Even Chandni didn't feel the need to talk to her, not after the day she lured her in her lovely talks and then changed her night into nightmare.

Sure she gave her one thing from that. A lesson, to never cry.

She has learnt the lesson a really hard way, so she never forgets it.
She never cries.
It's been six years, but no one has seen even a drop of tear fall from her eye.

It was also a great thing for her, because ever since she has stopped crying, her Chachi has stopped beating her at every chance she gets, mostly because now she doesn't get that pleasure that she used to get earlier.

She stood there, waiting for both of them to finish their breakfast, while occasionally asking if they require anything.

"Ritika... " Her chachi called out her cousin.

"Yes mom?"

"A boy and his family is coming to meet you for your marriage." She informed, and all of a sudden Ritika stood up in anger.

"What? How can you do this to me? You asked someone to come and see me for marriage without asking me?" She yelled in anger which caught Chandani offgaurd.

She didn't say a word as she had no mood of grabbing their attention and being pray to their anger.

"The boy is a CEO of a very well known firm... I'm sure you know it, Kapadia Industries." Her Chachi said, and Ritika's mood changed within a second.

"Reyansh Kapadia?" She asked, her eyes suddenly gleaming with excitement.

"Yes, now are you happy?" Her mom said, and she gave a happy smile.

All this while Chandni quietly listened, only one thought roaming in her mind. Her sister is going to get married anytime soon, and she'll need to do a lot of work.

"Hey, you!" Her Chachi called out, making her snap out of her thoughts.

"Yes Chachi?" She asked, looking at her.

"Prepare a feast for the Kapadia's, but when they ask who has prepared it, I'm going to say Ritika." She said and Chandni shook her head, very well aware of that.

"Ok chachi." She said.

"And listen, don't come in front of them, don't let them know that you exist." Her Chachi warned.

"Ok chachi." She said, again.

This is something that she has learnt from experienced. Don't object, you have to do it anyway, might as well be without being a punching bag.

Her only motto was, do whatever told to, and you'll get through the day without having to apply turmeric on your bruises at night as an antiseptic.

Sure her Chachi was the evil type, but she was considerate. She made her work like a slave everyday, but she understood her whenever she was on her period, though not a lot, but atleast she didn't let her beg for sanitary napkins, like she has heard, the evil ladies of her Chachi's gossip group do.

Her life was a bed of roses for five years and now she has no complaints when it is a road of thorns.

She did have a lot of expectations the day she came here for the first time, but they all crashed down when she was handed a broom and a mop the next day.

It was hard for her to do the chores, which did result in her being punished, but then she learnt everything. Now she can work the whole day without even getting a little bit tired.

Maybe she does get tired, but she just brushes it off, not bothering about it.

She is living this life for about twelve years now, she'd be joking if she said that she hasn't gotten used to it.

She has a terrible life, but she never once thought of ending it all.
She believed in her God.
She believed that the Almighty wouldn't have given her a life if it was support to end by her own hands.

She trusted God enough to conclude that if he has give her the life, he'll even give her the reason to live.
So she's living everyday, waiting for one such reason.

She knows she may die waiting, but she would be able to proudly inform her parents in the heaven that she tried. She didn't back off.
