Three weeks later

Reyansh felt something like peace when he landed. Spending the time in London gave him a sense of relief and joy as he managed to get the business done right.

As he sat in the cab that he booked so that he doesn't end up disturbing his family,he was all set to go and surprise them.

As the road went by he drifted to the thoughts of his failure or in the other words his wedding.
Never had he ever expected something so deceitful would happen to him but it did and he didn't know who to blame.

Maybe it was himself that was to be blamed or his family who ki da rushed through with the wedding because they thought of Ritika and her family as someone genuine.

As he came out of the cab, he looked at his home, his peace in front of him.

As he entered he saw that everything changed in the Kapadia mansion. Literally.
There were less to no servants compared to before, yet the house looked much better than it was when servants were present.
But he didn't think of it much.

It was only 5:30 in the morning,so he knew that pretty much everyone would arrive after 6 or 7.
As he entered he was met with utter silence as expected.
But as soon as he went near the staircase he stopped.

For once he couldn't decipher the situation in front of him. Because it was Chandni who was moping the staircase.
The sudden noise that the bag made, startled Chandni.

She looked at the direction and found the person she never expected to arrive so soon, not after yeh way he left.

Both couldn't say a word, as one was surprised and the other was petrified.

Chandni never thought that she could be scared of anyone so much but she is now.
On the other hand, Reyansh was confused about everything.

What was she even doing in the house was his first question because as far as the talks he had with his family during all this time, they never once mentioned her.
And even if she is present here why was her condition so surprisingly awkward.

Before they could say something they heard Rati coming downstairs.
"Oh my son is finally here!" She said, quite overjoyed with him coming back.

They shared a hug while Chandni just stood there like a ghost, wondering what should she do at the moment.

"What are you staring at? Go and arrange some breakfast for my son." Rati literally ordered Chandni which confused Reyansh.

"Y...yes ma'am." Chandni finally spoke and was about to go but stopped when Reyansh said,

"Mom,I just came back,I'm gonna take a nap for an hour then we'll see about breakfast." He took a pause,"and I'll listen to everything you have to tell me." He said looking at Chandni.

He was feeling fresh when he landed but when he reached his home, the jetlag got the best of him. He was confused and he had questions, but he knew his mind required a break before he proceeded to make it think more than required.

His mother just slightly nodded at him as he went to his room.
Chandni was still standing where she was until Rati voice broke her trance,
"Are you planning to stand here the whole day? Go and complete the work after that make sure you make all Reyansh's favourite stuff for the breakfast." She said and Chandni just gave a light nod before continuing with her work.

Inside the room, Reyansh was relieved to see that everything was just as he left indicating nobody really entered the room, but truth was very different from what he thought.

Not bothering about anything,he just took a shower and lied on the bed, sleep quickly engulfing him due to the tiredness.

Here Chandni finsihed with what had become her now regular work. She was done with all the cleaning and now she was starting with the cooking.
It had been her life at her Chachi 's place and it was her place her.

She was habituated to do it so it didn't bother her when the Kapadia family treated her more like a servant and ver less like a family.
To be honest, she never even expected them to be civil and have basic human manners with her but they did.

Apart from making her work they did pretty much nothing. They didn't really talk to her, and weren't abusive of any kind like what had been the case in her Chachi 's house and she was glad about it.

They would act very pissed and angry initially and it was fair, but with each passing day, their anger transformed into just being a bit rude with her.

This was till today. Now that Reyansh was back, Chandni knew the anger would resurface, and she concluded this only from the change in her tone that Rati had earlier.

She had turned a bit soft the past week, but seeing Reyansh, everything from the wedding flashed before her eyes and Chandni noticed it.

She took a deep breath before she began the cooking as she realised there's no way out.
After nearly an hour or so, Chandni completed the cooking and the plating of the food.

The whole family was present at the dining table,so Chandni continued her routine of serving everyone.
She noticed that Reyansh wasn't present and she was glad about it.

"Rati, did Reyansh come home today?" Rajesh asked his wife who just gave a pretty joyful nod.

"My grandson is here and we are having breakfast without him?" Vinita exclaimed.

"We'll go and bring him downstairs." The twins said as they stood up.

"Stop!" Rati said and all of them actually became quite.

"Reyansh came home early this morning. I met him and talked to him. He is sleeping right now and let him,he's tired." Rati said which made a lot of sense to everyone.

They just continued there breakfast with the chitchat that is always there while Chandni stood there like a shadow.
It was supposed to be a two day punishment for her to stand idly while they ate but it just became something regular.

"Chandni, after you're done with the work, please come to my room." Vinita said, her eyes sympathetic as she looked at Chandni.

"Yes ma'am." She said and then all of them just finished the breakfast and went to do their own work while Chandni cleared the table.

After a while, Reyansh finally came downstairs. Spotting his mother sitting on the sofa,he went there.
"Good morning mom." He greeted, sitting beside her.

"Good morning my lovely boy. Feeling good now?" She asked to which he gave a nod.

"Chandni bring tea for my son!" She kinda ordered and suddenly Reyansh remembered his morning interaction.

"Mom,why are you speaking to her in such a way? And what is she even doing here?" He asked two of all the questions he had.

"She stays here, might as well earn it." Rati said, shrugging her shoulders.

"What?" He yelled I'm confusion.
