Veronica and Timothy almost went blind from the sun when they stepped out. The sun hadn't gone down the horizon yet, its blazing heat torching the citizens of Rome. The day was warm and bright, giving the opportunity to enjoy a bright sky, which was like a huge dome covering the earth.

Soon a double-decker bus arrived to take the group of tourists, and their guide Clara climbed out of it, looking at Veronica and Timothy sternly. There were only them, waiting on the street so far and the rest of the tourists were running late. Clara looked at her watch nervously, thinking how bad it was to be late for an excursion. But after a few minutes, the other tourists arrived and their little group got on the bus, filling up more than half of the bus. The bus stopped near the indescribable wonder of the world, the Colosseum, as soon as it reached the center of the city.

It was truly a beautiful sight. The majestic amphitheater was located amongst other buildings of Rome, as an eternal monument; the works of human hands, which created an unforgettable monument of earthly architecture. It effused the ancient spirit of the era in which Roman emperors, legionaries, patricians and slaves had lived. An entire civilization came to life before the tourists.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we see here the magnificent building constructed during the reign of Emperor Caesar." Clara said fluently. "Now I will tell you more about the Colosseum, and later we'll see this wonder of the world from inside. Until then, enjoy the view outside."

The guide was talking about the history of the city of Rome in an interesting and exciting way, and Timothy and Veronica were standing together, looking up at the monumental structure.

"It's great, isn't it?" Timothy asked her, reading the sincere emotions on her beautiful face.

"It really is!" Veronica admired it, barely breathing, while her head was fully tilted back and she was looking at the top of the ancient monument.

"I wish I could stay here longer." Timothy whispered, watching Veronica, who didn't submit to him in any way and was too perfect for him. She didn't look at him, doesn't matter how hard he tried to attract her attention; she was far from him, immersed in her own dreams.

Half an hour later, when the tourists had walked around the Colosseum and checked out the inner structure of the building, the young people got to the Roman Forum, where Clara continued her informative report. The Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the market of that time were so great that Veronica gasped with delight. She had never experienced so many emotions because she had never seen such monumental buildings in her life.

While Veronica was watching them, Timothy put his hand gently on her waist, trying to get closer to her. It's only made her want to move away from him, but she understood that she had to be more polite and patient with him. How was it possible? Veronica couldn't make herself fall in love with him.

Walking along the road leading to the Capitoline, the tourists wanted to hear more interesting stories about Ancient Rome, but it was impossible because the guide had other groups besides theirs. Clara thanked all the tourists for their attention and said that the vacationers could reach the hotels on a tourist bus, if they didn't stay longer than half an hour. Those who wanted to walk around Rome could stay and get to the hotel later, as there were taxis in the city at every step. But the main concern was not to get lost.
