Chapter 17: Snow Flower

Rafayel holds your hand the entire time you walk together towards his room, causing a flurry of butterflies to stir in your stomach. Your lips pulsed and your heart throbbed from the aftermath of the kiss.

His footsteps are slow and light, and once in a while, you make sure to check that he's not about to faint on you. You notice that the tips of his ear are still red. How cute.

Rafayel's bedroom door is left wide open and there are still traces of this morning's struggle. It occurs to you that this is the first time you've ever seen his bedroom properly. You'd often catch glimpses of his room whenever he'd come in and out of it, but you'd obviously never dared to enter without permission. Although you did barge into the room with Zayne to rescue Thomas this morning, you were much too focused on Thomas to focus on anything else. Now, you're able to finally notice the breathtaking glass dome ceiling in Rafayel's bedroom, and the sheer size of his bedroom. It is huge. The bed is huge. The bathroom is huge. Everything inside somehow reflects Rafayel's personality perfectly, from the choice of furniture to the colours of the carpets. It is just so him. Rafayel takes notice of your gawking and simply smirks.

"Why are you looking at my room like that?" he teases. "This isn't a museum."

"You have a really nice room," you comment, still staring at the glass ceiling.

Rafayel sits down at the edge of his bed and you follow suit. It is a king-sized bed with white bed sheets and a white blanket.

"I feel like I'm in a five-star hotel room," you say, impressed.

Rafayel exhales a small breath of laughter and leans back to collapse onto the bed.

"I feel sticky, and I hate wearing some rando's nasty pants," he complains. "I want to shower and change into my own pants, but I can barely get up."

"I can help you," you say without thinking.

Rafayel shoots you a questioning look, his ears turning pink once more. You suddenly realize your mistake.

"Wait—no," you say in panic, "I meant I'd help walk you to the bathroom, not sh–shower!"

"Pervert."

"I'm not a pervert!" you cry out, feeling your face heat up. What are you even saying? You feel like your head got all jumbled up after the kiss and being in his room like this. Rafayel slowly sits upright, running his long fingers through his damp ashen lilac hair.

"Whatever you say," he says with a teasing tone. "I'm going to go shower. Don't follow me."

"You–! I won't!" you huff. "Don't faint in there or I'll have to come get you while you're naked."

"I'm fine!" Rafayel says with a wave of his hand.

"Then I'm going to shower too!" you screech in embarrassment. You rush out of his bedroom, hearing Rafayel's chuckles echoing in the background.

Once you're in your bedroom, you let out a huff and reach for the zipper of your dress to pull it down. You can't wait to get out of this damp dress and wash off the sticky, salty feeling on your skin. You can practically still smell the ocean in your hair. The dress makes a soft noise when it lands on the floor, and you feel sad seeing the torn up slit and weathered-out hems. This dress went through a lot with you today, and you hope to still be able to salvage it. After all, it was a gift from Rafayel.
