099. JUST A GIRL

Chapter ninety nine

"Just a girl."

In the Salvatore boarding house, the ascendant was broken on the table, while Beatrix laid on the couch unconscious, Kai was watching her and as Beatrix woke up she saw her black dog stuffed animal staring at her "oh. Look who's awake. How do you feel?" Kai asked her "you..you shot me and it actually went through me..that hasn't happened in a long time." Beatrix shared, furrowing her brows, realizing she could be hurt again "right. Any whoo, I have no idea how you managed to shatter the ascendant into a billion pieces, but we need to put it back together before the eclipse at twelve twenty eight. You want to help? I know you're a puzzle person." Kai shared.

As Beatrix got up off the couch, she winced, which meant something was definitely wrong with her demon side "no, usually the people who have shot me, don't get my help! They end up dead! And for your information I was hanged as a witch a while back and my demon side had kicked in to where as I said people couldn't shoot me. Which means you being able to shoot me with an arrow means something's wrong! Even more of a reason we cannot leave today! Seeing as you'll then kill me!" she voiced "you've been through a trauma." Kai shared, standing up and as he did, Beatrix stepped toward's her dog stuffed animal.

"Your memory's probably a little fuzzy right now, so you might be thinking that your magic will protect you, but all I have to do is hold your hand," Kai shared, grabbing her hand, Beatrix screamed in pain "and your magic suddenly becomes my pain." Kai said, as he pulled Beatrix closer to him "what was that? Huh? What? You're gonna do the spell and finally get us home?" Kai asked "not quite." Beatrix told him, grabbing the pocket knife off the table and stabbing him in the neck with it, she shoved all the pieces of the ascendant into her bag and ran out of there.

Making it to the hospital, Beatrix opened the door and ran in, making it to the backroom, she grabbed gauze and opened the cabinet above finding antibiotics and pain killers, walking over to the table behind her, she threw it all down, as she opened the bottles and took pain killers and the antibiotics, she then ripped the bandage off her stab wound and replaced it with the new one, as she then opened her bag and pulled out the broken pieces of the ascendant, she began putting it back together.

But when she finally got it all together, she noticed one of the pieces were missing, as she recalled that Kai was fixing it before she stabbed him in the neck which meant he had it "damn it!" she voiced, as the power then went out in the hospital, she knew it wasn't by mistake, as she grabbed her stuff and began walking off, she soon ran into Kai "looking for this?" he asked, holding the missing piece up "you stole the ascendant, naughty girl. You weren't planning on using it and leaving me behind, were you? You left a trail of blood in the driveway. Figured where else would you stop and play nurse?" he asked.

Beatrix then brought her hand up and the lights around Kai exploded, as she turned running off, but when she made it to the exit it wouldn't open, as she turned running to the nearest door, she headed out of there and made it to Damon's car, she started it up but as she did, Kai came from the backseat, putting his arms around her neck and squeezing "ah!" Beatrix voiced, kicking her feet, feeling like she couldn't breathe "I thought about taking the keys, but that'd be like taking the cheese out of a mousetrap, right, Beatrix? Although, you know, fun fact. Mice don't actually like cheese. Isn't that great? Shh, shh, shh." Kai shared, taking his hand off her neck "so we have an hour until the eclipse. It's time to go home, Beatrix." he added on, as Beatrix coughed, trying to catch her breath.

Being down in that cave again, Beatrix remembered how Damon looked at her like he didn't expect her to get him out instead of her "brought you a present." Kai told her, throwing his bag down, he unzipped it revealing the black dog stuffed animal "you know I never understood why it had red eyes until I saw yours. It's just like you isn't it? A demon girl with her demon dog." he shared, chuckling but Beatrix just stared at him "I know you think I'm a monster. I mean, I did murder or heavily maim most of my immediate family," Kai shared, standing up "but after a long period of self reflection, I've come to the conclusion that I could've handled my anger better." he added on.

As Beatrix raised her brows "says the guy who told us that his sole purpose of getting out of here was to give the rest of the gemini coven an excruciating death." she shared "I didn't mean it. Honestly, I would do anything to get my family back, and the thing I'm most scared of is trying figure out how live in the world again. Sort of hoping you've been a positive influence on me. You're a good person, Beatrix. You're brave, loyal, patient. I want to be more like you." Kai shared, leaning down and picking up the bag "what do you say? friends?" he asked, making the demon dog's voice high pitched.

Beatrix then stepped forward "let's do this." she told him, as Kai stepped toward's her, throwing the bag down at her feet, he then handed her the ascendant, where the eclipse soon came above them "it's now or never." Kai said, as Beatrix cut her hand with the ascendant, she dripped her blood onto it and closed her eyes to cast the spell, as Kai grabbed her wrist roughly "ow." Athena said, opening her eyes "just in case you thought you'd try to go without me." Kai shared "and risk what? You cutting off my leg so I can't runaway? No thanks." Beatrix told him.

As her blood dripped onto her demon dog, she closed her eyes and continued the spell and as she did, the ascendant opened, where Kai then looked up at the sky, missing how Beatrix's pentagram necklace was glowing red "so long, 1994." Kai said, as Beatrix finished, nothing happened "what the hell is happening?" Kai asked, as Beatrix opened her eyes "I'm not sure." she told him "keep going hurry." Kai told her, looking down at her"keep going? That was the spell we should be gone!" Beatrix voiced "keep going." Kai told her "I don't have magic anymore!" Beatrix voiced.

"What are you talking about you were just doing the spell.." Kai told her, grabbing her hands but as he did there was nothing "there's nothing there. There's no magic." he shared, looking up at the sky, Beatrix looked down seeing her necklace and the demon dog were gone "remember when you were saying I was a good person?" she asked, looking up at him "I'm not." she said, smirking and Kai realized what that meant "where did you put your magic?" he asked "all of you bad guys take one look at me and feel the need to share how you've changed and while you were doing so I put my demon powers into my necklace and my magic into the dog and sending them both away from you to where now? I'm just a girl." Beatrix shared.

As Kai walked forward, he picked up the bag and dumped everything out where there was no demon dog stuffed animal just the rest of his junk as he threw the bag down on the ground "come on!" he yelled, as he turned stepping toward's Beatrix, he saw that the necklace was gone too "where'd you put them, hmm?" he asked "somewhere we can no longer get too. Cause like I said, me and you? We're never leaving." Beatrix shared, smirking at him.

Back in the real world, Damon had been trying to do what Beatrix said, fall back in love with Elena and forget about her, but not only did Elena erase him from her memories but he had the want to call Beatrixs phone everyday just like he did back when he killed her, and the entire night he was with Elena at the dance all he could think of was Beatrix, where as the night was coming to an end, he found himself with a bottle of bourbon walking up to the Black family crypt where even though she didn't have a statue up there herself, her ancestor Lucy Grey Blackbird would have to do since she looked exactly like her.

As he poured some bourbon out for all three of them "one for all of you, one for me. Witches." he said, and as he did, he remembered what it was like when him and Beatrix thought they were dying.

"I..I was awful to you." Beatrix told him "well if it makes you feel better. I was awful to you too." Damon shared, and when he did, Beatrix started crying even more "and I didn't get to say it you before the explosion but I love you, too." Damon shared, leaning down and kissing her, Beatrix kissed him back, and when she did, it started raining, as Beatrix pulled away from him and looked up she smiled, Damon looked at her as he brought his hands up and kissed her again, the two began to get soaked to the bone just like in that dream he had given her, where they both were just glad to be with each other, as a bright light came and the two disappeared.

And when the memory ended and he came back to reality, he remembered how she said just like he always said to her that she wasn't the girl for him and sending him off for her to die thanks to the hands of that psycho, as he downed some of his bourbon, he noticed the pentagram necklace that Beatrix had been wearing around her ancestors neck and the demon dog stuffed animal down by her feet "Beatrix." he said, walking forward, grabbing the stuffed animal, he stood on the ledge and ripped the necklace off "you're still alive." he said, holding the two things close to him.
