The only reason I was intrigued by this game was because Morgana was a boss fight in it and Sylas could take the abilities of other champions and enemies, and also for lore reasons...

What?

I like Morgana, I'm allowed to have video game crushes.

Premise:

Mageseeker: A League Of Legends Story is a game published by Riot Games and made by Digital Sun Games. The game was made to fill in some of the gaps in the lore, namely of the characters: Sylas, Morgana, Lux, Garen, Shyvana, and Jarvan VI, after the events of the Lux comics. The game also explains the events of the Warriors Cinematic with Sylas arriving with the Winter's Claw when they attack Demacia, and why nobody was surprised that Lux could control magic. Unlike Ruined King, the game prioritizes Sylas's journey. It doesn't rely on a lot of previous information and instead allows the protagonist, his allies, and the enemies to shine while also giving a very good story. The game also offers some lore notes to refrence some other champions, some champions being: Fiddlesticks, Katarina, and Aatrox.

The game starts with Sylas escaping from his execution, stealing the powers of Lux to get away, and escape Demacia while also fighting against Garen, Lux's brother and one of the strongest knights in Demacia. Sylas escapes and trys to start a rebellion, but... he won't have much success at the beginning, since he was framed for the death of King Jarven the Third (III), which allowed the Mageseekers to go ahead and spread false rumors about Sylas. The Mageseekers are the bad guys basically and... in my personal opion, the Mageseekers are basically Nazi Germany for this game. I. Am. Not. Joking.

The Mageseekers main duty is to go after mages and kill them, imprison them, or in rare cases, are experimented on, just because they can use magic, and they encourage other mages to turn in other mages. And near the end of the game, they attempt to do mass executions of the mages... And didn't the Nazi's try to do the same?

Okay, I won't try to go after the Mageseekers to much, but as the main villains, the shit that they did is unforgiveable and... let's just get to the gameplay.

Gameplay:

Unlike Ruined King and the other games I've played. Mageseeker is a pixel art game, with some voice acting (Only in the cutscenes).

In Mageseeker, you play as Sylas, a former Mageseeker, turned prisoner for over a decade ever since he was a child. Sylas has the ability to harness the abilities of others simply by touching them and with his chains, it helps him to gain said abilities. In the game you have access to four slots to insert different magics. The game has a system very similar to Pokemon where certain elements are strong against one and weak to the other. In this case Fire beats Ice, Ice beats fire, Wind beats plant, plant beats wind, lightning beats mystic, mystic beats lightning. Get the idea? Each element has access to four mana abilities simple shots of elements, healing, surrounding the area with fire, you get the gist.

Later on the game, your able to access your ultimate which allows Sylas to channel one of six different champion abilities (Morgana, Lux, Garen, Jarvan VI, Shyvana, and Kayle), each one is basically the ultimate of the champion from League of Legends. After the Ultimate is used, Sylas is given a small amount of time to unleash more powerful attacks and if you upgrade your ultimate, they can last longer, do more damage, and heal Sylas back to his full HP.

Outside of combat, the game allows Sylas to use his chains as grappling hooks to move to different hooks to move around the area, which he can use against his enemies, and take down support towers that strengthen the enemies.

Story:

The story of Mageseeker is... very good. It is better then Ruined King, in my opinion, despite the fact that obvious Demacia Champions that should be included are not included: Fiora, Galio, Xin Xhao, Sona, and Quinn. The game is still good. The story honestly reminds me of Andor, with the idea that the rebellion weren't the good guys that we thought they were, they were willing to act dirty to get what they wanted, with the rebellion starting off with a need for vengeance only for it to turn into hope.

Sylas's journey is very good. Sylas saves mages left and right through the story, breaking into jails, laboratories, exploring the woods and later going to Lux's safe haven for Mages. But all of this is for his own vengeance to make sure that Eldred, the leader of the Mageseekers, is dead, and later plans on bringing down the royalty within Demacia. This attracts Morgana who tests Sylas, but Sylas fails Morgana's test due to his own need for vengeance, and Morgana knows that vengeance will be the fall of the rebellion. Sylas's need for vengeance is tested until he realizes that his vengeance will destroy everything when he sees the life of someone he cared deeply about that gave him a second chance, sacrifices herself so that Sylas and the rebellion could live on.

Sylas's humility lets him speak to Morgana, a second time, and gives him her blessing. A vision of the past, a past that showed the truth of Demacia, for it to be a safe place from the Rune Wars that was created by Mages. This was changed when the Mageseekers were formed, and changed history so that they could hunt down Mages.

Sylas later fights against the new leader of the Mageseekers in a final battle, with Sylas emerging victorius. The newly Kinged Jarvan IV creates a new law, disbanding the Mageseekers, but the rebellion changes the tide and Demacia is now at a civil war. One led by Lux, Jarvan, and Garen while the other is led by Sylas and his rebellion.

Ending Thoughts:

Mageseeker is a good video game, and the story is also very good. It makes me want to write more League fanfics besides Darkin Rose and Marvel versus League of Legends.

I would rate this an 8/10. I did sometimes get bored of the repeditive combat, and sometimes there were repeated boss fights that would be really annoying, but the story makes up for it and with Morgana narrating the cutscenes also makes it good.

But... there is one issue.

Morgana mentions that if Kayle returns, Demacia wouldn't be ready for her judgement. Which makes me think that Kayle is against the Mageseekers and there ideals. So... why does the final boss fight, who leads the Mageseekers, allude to it being Kayle... when she would not work with the Mageseekers knowing that they choose to harm the innocent when Kayle wants to protect the innocence since Kayle and Morgana are the two sides of justice.

Kayle being the Punitive Side (Protecting the Innocent and Punishing Sinners), while Morgana is the Redemptive side (Offering Forgiveness, and giving those who deserve it, a second chance)... it just feels weird that the final boss is mimicking Kayle's appearence... but ignores Kayle's core principals... I'm not the only one that noticed that, I'm sure.
