I. Chapter 20
Evelyn Maia Silva

It would be eventful for the Cullens this week. For a few days, the clouds would clear and they would have to stay out of the clearing until then to avoid a very unnecessary confrontation with humans who happens to happen upon them under the shining sun. Meaning, they would have to miss school and none was really glee about it except Alice who wanted to use the time in school to pester Edward about letting her meet Bella but he would always refuse. There was the issue about the weather but really, it only gave them extra time to use the time to hunt in the forest to relinquish their thirst. On the other hand, Peter and Charlotte would be visiting as well. They were known to Jasper most, considering he had history with the two when it came to Jasper's previous coven, a past he did not like to think about.

Edward had been livid about it ever since the discovery that Peter and Charlotte was around the area. It baffles him how he was the only one to think of the Silvas safety but Carlisle assured him that they promised not to hunt in Forks. Edward was even more put out when his first thought goes out for Bella's safety, not for Emery nor her daughters. In his defense, he immediately thought of them after the first. His fears of losing this haven for his family got the best of him and visited Evelyn and Luna the moment he received the news of the Nomads passing by, just hanging out in their house to keep them company but in the guise of sense that he was protecting them.

"I have a thesis to finish, a book report, and two exams to study for." Evelyn reports mostly to herself but her hand holding a phone against her left ear would prove otherwise. Being presented with such a workload gave her an immense feeling of exhaustion, even more so of the sight of papers on her desk in front of her. "Tell me, am I screwed if I just don't study for the exams and finish some of my work load?"

"From what I can tell, you would be." Rosalie softly laughs, walking more slowly in the woods and had to practically shove Emmett away just so she could speak to Evelyn who called her in the middle of hunting. "Do you want help? I can be there in a few." She offers mostly to her own gain. They haven't seen each other properly in a few days which had been too long for either of them.

"No, I'll be fine." Evelyn sighs heavily, knowing Rosalie would be busy and she didn't want to intrude.

"Hey, nobody told you to take the extra activities for additional criteria, it was voluntary." Rosalie reminds her with a playful voice, rubbing it in.

"I'm starting to regret it now, don't rub it in, okay?" Evelyn groans, pulling her phone away from her ear and pressing the speaker button before placing her phone down to gather her thoughts more effectively, breathing. "Has Peter and Charlotte arrived, yet? How are you?" She asks to ease her mind, knowing Rosalie told her she had her doubts of Jasper's friends visiting because of the difference of their diet.

"Not yet and I'll be fine, don't worry about me." Rosalie says assuringly as best she could. "You should really worry more about your thesis paper and all. If you accepted my offer, we would've finished that by now."

"You would be more of a distraction, really. In what way could I finish all of this with you in the same room?" Evelyn chuckles, knowing it would render Rosalie vulnerable. A fact she was right because all that Rosalie could do is smile tightly, looking down in her path. "I miss you."

Rosalie hums, "If you said yes to my offer—"

"—Besides the fact, can't I say I miss you without being insulted?" Evelyn sighs, even more deeply when Rosalie laughs over the phone. "Are you free tomorrow night?" She asks, an idea forming in her mind and it brought a smile to her lips, disregarding the piles of papers in front of her.
