I. Chapter 23
Evelyn Maia Silva

CHECKING ON CHARLIE SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA, Evelyn and Luna drove to his house, following Bella's truck on the way. Luna told Bella they were going to her house since their mother was there. As opposed to being oblivious, Bella really took the mantle of its very definition. Evelyn almost laughed when Luna told her that Bella seemed to really didn't notice just how close their parents are behind the scenes. When Luna elaborated what everybody was thinking, it was like watching a deer get caught in headlights. Bella assured her she really didn't expect that and is now keenly keeping an eye out for her father, wondering just how much thing seemed to change for him.

For such a longest time now, Bella really only was aware of one thing for her dad. He was still hung up on her mom and even then, he still believes he did the right thing, which was to let her go. Renée was always thrilled for the adventure and travel, she was never going to be content with settling her roots in a boring old town. She begged him to leave, of course, but Charlie was never going to leave his parents as well as the expectations the people in town has for him. So, she took Bella and left. Charlie let them go, feeling as if he was the reason why his wife was so unhappy. For the longest time, he felt responsible for them feeling so morose.

"Thanks again for dinner, kid. Bella and I appreciate it." Charlie says for what probably seemed like a hundred times tonight, walking the Silvas back to their cars with Bella accompanying him. To be nice, it seemed really implausible if she stayed in the house while her father was sending their guests off safely.

Evelyn put out a charming and grateful grin, "Of course. I told you I can cook you guys dinner if you just visit. We don't really mind, we love hosting in our house." She said happily, genuine. Bella hasn't met a person like she met Evelyn. She seemed too good to be true, in all sense that is right.

"Just give a heads up." Emery adds in with a pointed voice. "But knowing Charlie, we're just gonna have to invite you over sometime." She rolls her eyes, knowing how shy and reserved that man is.

"That sounds great." Bella laughs a bit, sensing Charlie's obvious discomfort to being so seen. He seemed so happy today.

"Yes, yes, we should do this again sometime. Mum, can I drive?" Luna intervenes, holding onto her mother's shoulders innocently but her eyes held a different story, up to no good. Bella recognized it and so did Evelyn, eyeing her, scarce.

"Sure— Hey, listen," Emery says, unbothered and handed her daughter the keys to her car before turning back to Charlie. "Our doors are always open to both of you. Bella, you haven't been! Maybe one of these days, Luna can give you a tour." She says, realizing Charlie's daughter hasn't been in their house yet and found a way to get them some common ground.

"Oh, I'd love to. Yeah, maybe one of these days, I'll be happy to go." Bella nods, feeling a little confident in their family's presence. At first, she was intimidated by how seemingly powerful they seemed. That family that moved here from London or Manchester, a well off doctor with her two daughters who seemed just as much as powerful. If you asked Bella, she might've assumed the Silvas had the same reputation as the Cullens but they were normal. Just as any normal as anyone could get in the world.

"Wonderful. I'll let you and Luna schedule a date, I'll make sure I'll be at home for that to give you a warm welcome." Emery smiles, ecstatic.

Evelyn held a different smile, holding back a laugh at her mother's obvious leniency. "Well, we have to get home, it's getting pretty late." Evelyn announces, had started to walk towards her car parked behind her mother's in front of Charlie's house. "See you at school, Bella." She winks as good bye, holding her car keys in her hand.
