I. Chapter 31
Evelyn Maia Silva

-

The weather in Forks has significantly praised over the upcoming months of the summer. Although it has been a nice change for once, it didn't feel quite right at home for Evelyn who loved the cold, the rain, and the gloomy weather that most people would find depressing. It beats getting hot under a scorching sun, she believes her skin isn't made to withstand such tempermental weather like it is in tropical remote desertions. Growing up in England is a huge factor to her dislike for such hot locations, as well. One Rosalie would never make her forget, teasing her for the difference that puts her aside on the spectrum.

"That's too much."

"No, it isn't! Rose, back me up here." Alice scowls, stealing the announcement she made from Evelyn's hands. Evelyn suppressed the urge to exert a reaction that would fuel Alice's energy more than it already is.

"A graduation announcement as bold and carefully thought of like this is the least of what Evelyn's father deserves." Rosalie says, making Evelyn smile and point at her, looking at Alice who had no one to back her up now. "Besides, can't a simple email suffice? She's already going to see him in the ceremony."

Graduating high school is a huge accomplishment and milestone for Evelyn, especially when she started her senior year a few months late and still graduated with honors and a valedictorian title. The speech is already fixed, Evelyn spent weeks on it, perfecting every word that would consist of her supposed farewell. When she was first told she was going to be valedictorian, Evelyn believed it was a cruel joke. She wasn't aware on how much her classmates admired her and didn't believe Rosalie when she was told that a lot of students looked up to her. Apparently, half the school expected either Rosalie or Evelyn to be valedictorian.

The extracurriculars and no history of misconduct hung tightly on Evelyn's track record academically, especially her more active years in her previous schools that followed her even when she moved to Forks. To this, Evelyn's father expressed that he wished to be in the ceremony to support her. No one was happy about it and Evelyn couldn't quite understand how she feels. The other half of her was ecstatic her family would be complete to see her receive her diploma, the other half is concerned as to how it would end, knowing her mother, sister, and the Cullens hated him.

"Oh, be fair, guys." Alice pouts, showing off the announcement she made for Evelyn's father since Evelyn didn't want to do it herself and isn't as artistic and creative. "It's a good announcement. And it's more for the principle." Rosalie rolled her eyes at her sister. "Your graduation is in a month and you can give Eli this."

"Again, it's no use."

"It's not for you to use, Rose, so zip it." Alice scowls again, glaring at Rosalie from besides her.

"Okay," Evelyn beams heartily, grabbing their attention once more before a brawl happens in the middle of her living room. "Thank you for this, Alice." She said with a grateful look.

"No problem." Alice grins as if nothing had happened but Rosalie couldn't do the same gesture, looking at Evelyn with an exhausted face. "So, let's talk about your birthday." She brings up with high enthusiasm, squealing in glee.

"My birthday is in two months." Evelyn says pointedly, feeling confused as she failed to remember if she even told Alice when her birthday is. Then, she remembered this was Alice she was speaking to. "Isn't a small party in my house enough?" She exasperates, feeling her heart beat a little faster when Rosalie laughed.

"Nothing is ever enough for Alice. I thought you'd get used to her by now." Rosalie says with a smirk, taking another jab to attack Alice slyly.

"I haven't made up my mind, yet." Evelyn says with a familiar grin, looking at Rosalie as they share a brief understanding.
