II. Chapter 37
Luna Eloise Silva

-

The near death experience opened Luna's eyes to a lot of problems she needed to resolve within herself. Mainly, she needed to understand why her sister constantly lowers her guards around their father. It infuriates her as to how Evelyn never seemed to learn to value herself when it comes to Eli, it was clear she still wants to forgive him but he was never going to change. Any chance for redemption seems to flush down the drain the second he decided to have an affair. He ruined them, Luna hated him with everything she has. It doesn't matter if she's exhausted of resenting her father, she took her stand and she would never step away from it. Not even if he gave her everything the world had to offer.

"Stop it, Luna. You're giving me a headache." Edward grumbles under his breath loud enough when he walked towards her car. "Your thoughts are too fast. Can you even stand properly with everything running in your mind?"

"Is this enough proof for you." Luna deadpans, perfectly standing on her feet and shut the car door roughly, irritated. When Evelyn left for college, she left her car in her sister's hands. Luna felt pathetic when she catches herself missing driving to school with her sister.

"It's okay." Edward replies, studying Luna more clearly, trying to catch up with her thoughts. "Are you okay?" He asks, concerned.

"Fine. I'm just trying to figure out a way to force Bella to your house after school today. Alice gives such a difficult task." Luna sighs, pulling the strap of her bag firmly on her shoulder and she looks around the parking lot.

Edward shrugs, "It'll work out. Alice has already seen it."

"It's a good plan." Alice says, making Luna look past Edward to see her skipping excitedly to where they were. Edward wasn't surprised, he had already hear her coming and leaned against Luna's car, his hands in his pockets, unmoving now.

"I bet she won't like that." Luna emphasizes, eyeing the gift that Alice held in her hands.

"Not one bit." Alice grins more widely, clearly undeterred from Bella's aversion of today being her birthday.

Soon, the familiar old Chevy truck rolls across the pavement of the parking lot to where they await the birthday girl. Bella slammed the door of her truck and walked slowly toward where they waited. Alice skipped forward to meet her, her pixie face glowing under her spiky black hair.

"Happy birthday, Bella!"

"Shh!" Bella hissed, glancing around the lot to make sure no one had heard Alice's chirpy greeting. The last thing Bella wanted was some kind of celebration of the black event. Luna tried not to give away the fact that a surprise party awaits her at the end of the day. Edward nudges his elbow on her side and she glares at him.

Alice ignored Bella. "Do you want to open your present now or later?" She asked eagerly as they made their way to where Edward and Luna still waited.

"No presents," Bella protested in a mumble,

Alice finally seemed to process her mood. "Okay... later, then. Did you like the scrapbook your mom sent you? And the camera from Charlie?"

Bella sighed. "Yeah. They're great."

"I think it's a nice idea. You're only a senior once. Might as well document the experience."

"How many times have you been a senior?"

"That's different."

They reached Edward and Luna then, and he held out his hand for hers. Bella took it eagerly, forgetting, for a moment, her glum mood.
