I. Chapter 25
Evelyn Maia Silva

Nature isn't so kind, the soil in the forest is still too muddy to walk on and Rosalie settled on leading them down a path where it was tolerable for Evelyn to walk on without at least ruining her boots. For as long as she had known the girl, Evelyn would have a hard time finding a new pair to replace it with. It's not as if it could get easily fixed with a deep clean, Evelyn couldn't be bothered. Rosalie loved her for it. It made Evelyn feel more real to know she has some quirks most people would find as if it was a flaw within her.

"This would be more easier if we drove around for a bit." Evelyn says with reason, looking down at her shoes to check if there were mud that spludged the sides or if the cuffs of her pants were ruined.

Rosalie withheld a laugh. "Do you want me to carry you?"

"Do you mind?" Evelyn says jokingly, eyeing Rosalie as if she was daring her to do so. Rosalie stopped walked and bent her knees, placing her hand behind Evelyn's knees, making her raise her voice next, struggling to find a solid footing between laughing or denying them a moment to break the ice. "No— No! I wasn't being serious!" She exclaims in between laughters, having no choice but to wrap her arms around Rosalie's neck when her feet was lifted off from the ground.

"I wouldn't want you to ruin your shoes. Isn't that more of a luxury to get ruined by mud?" Rosalie teases, carrying Evelyn with ease almost made Rosalie believe her own heart was beating so rapidly, distressing her in all the right ways.

Evelyn laughs, "Could you please put me down before you drop me and ruin my coat next?"

"Only because you asked so nicely." Rosalie smiles fondly, carefully assisting Evelyn down. They face one another, Evelyn's mention of her coat got Rosalie to fix it more properly for her, aware she may have been cold. "You're right, we could've drove, I'm sorry." She sighs, almost disappointed with herself for she wanted a moment of peace with Evelyn, the first thing she thought to do was for them to have a walk.

"No worries. As much as I'm conventionally not made for the outdoors, you are lucky I like you enough to tolerate a little walk." Evelyn winks, wrapping her arm around Rosalie's as they continue down their path slowly. She leaned half her weight onto Rosalie, admiring their time together.

"I knew there was a flaw in you." Rosalie teases lightly, looking at the side of Evelyn's face.

"Prepared to run away from me now, Rosalie Hale?" Evelyn questions, Rosalie's name rolling down her tongue so slowly and eccentric.

"Never." Rosalie replies in the same voice, serious. "Are you?" She asks now, meaning it a little differently than their light conversation.

Evelyn's eyes falter a little but not because of the hesitancy to answer, but by the sudden reminder of why they needed this certain walk in the first place. "Not even my own mother can tear us apart." She says as a definite answer, eyes boring into Rosalie's to make her believe it without squander. "Tried and done, of course, but not really. I'm afraid you are far too difficult to stay away from. Are you aware?" She frowns, the corner of her lip turned upward slightly into a smirk.

"Oh, I know that too well." Rosalie sighs with ease, looking ahead of their path that made Evelyn laugh, shutting her eyes briefly.

"A little modesty would've been nice."

"You'd like me less."

Evelyn hums, trying to think of Rosalie being a different person did her no good. She liked Rosalie the way she is, with all uncertain flaws and the goodness in which Rosalie would never see for herself. It was okay, though, Evelyn would cherish her until the day they have to leave one another. That thought settled into her with such ease, Evelyn swallows thickly, wondering when was the time that she accepted their ending so normally.
