"Well? Do we get to meet them, or are you going to keep us out here all night? We didn't come for the view of the corridor."
"I'll go speak to Marjorie, I don't know if she'll be up to everyone at once or if you need to come in in smaller groups." Reece replied. He turned to walk back to the room and then realised he was alone. He turned back to the group. "You coming Aut?"
She looked at him, a slight look of shock crossing her face. "Really?"
"Who else did you think would be first to meet them?"
She followed him into the room. As she walked in, she saw Marjorie. She looked a mess, but Autumn didn't think even Mia would tell her that in this moment. She walked over and gave her friend a hug. "Marjorie, I'm so happy for you. I would have been here earlier but SOMEONE," she said, looking pointedly at Reece, "neglected to tell me you were in labour."
Reece was standing on the other side of the room where both babies were with the nurse. He was practically bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet he was so excited. They'd both already held them, but he was itching to get his hands on them again and show them off to his sister. He was so caught up in the two of them that he hadn't even noticed Autumns dig at his expense. Autumn and Marjorie both laughed at him in his own little world before continuing their conversation.
"I need to call Mia. She was so good while everyone was trying to track down Reece." Marjorie said, still watching Reece on the other side of the room, a soft smile teasing across her lips at his excitement and how much love she could see in his eyes for their children already.
"You don't need to call anyone, Marjorie. Everyone's already here."
"What do you mean everyone's here? Mia said she was leaving when Reece arrived."
"She didn't. Charlotte and Carly joined her here straight after work, then Siobhan after locking up. Clodagh picked up Sorscha, and they all came straight here then myself and Winter came when Mia rang me a little while ago. We've all been out in the corridor waiting for news. Viv's kept coming up whenever she's had some spare time as well."
"I knew about Viv. She kept popping in, but I didn't realise the rest of you were out there."
"Where else would we be, Marjorie?" Autumn said, smiling at Marjorie. "Do you want to see everyone in stages or all at once? They'll do whatever you want. They just want to see the three of you."
"Oi! I'm here too, you know!" Reece said, finally hearing part of the conversation.
"You showed up late and only did something useful 9 months ago. You don't count." Autumn replied, smirking at her brother, who now had a baby in his arms and was gently bouncing up and down, smiling down at the tiny bundle he was holding.
He walked over to Autumn and showed her the baby in his arms. "Meet your nephew." He said as he passed the little boy over before going back to get his daughter. As Autumn stared in wonder at the little boy in her arms, she felt Reece return to her side, looking over to see her niece in his arms. She looked between the two babies, her eyes welling up before she finally spoke. "I'm so glad he's gotten his looks from Marjorie, but my god, the poor girl looks just like you." She said teasingly, once again smirking at Reece. He just rolled his eyes.
"Oi! That's my daughter you're insulting!" Marjorie laughed.
Autumn walked over to Marjorie and handed her her son. "Any thoughts on visitors? I'll go get whoever you want first." She said.
Marjorie looked at Reece. He just shrugged to signify it was up to her. "Let them all in. These two are going to need to get used to all of you being around so they may as well start now."
