Hazel's POV

Hyden didn't let up. The entire day, he took every opportunity to invade my space, his hands always brushing against me, his touch lingering far longer than necessary. There wasn't a moment where I wasn't suddenly pinned to a wall or cornered somewhere, his lips finding mine like he couldn't get enough. Every time, my brain screamed to resist, but my body betrayed me, reacting to his touch with an intensity that made my heart race. It was like he was a man possessed, and I didn't know how much longer I could keep pretending I wasn't affected by it all.

By the time afternoon rolled around, I was practically jumping at every little movement, paranoid that Hyden would spring out from nowhere to ambush me again. Tash, of course, noticed my constant fidgeting and shot me a knowing smirk as we both headed into the living room where everyone was gathered. I spotted Hyden lounging on the couch, looking too relaxed for someone who'd spent the entire day tormenting me and Davis was there too having a chat with them.

"Hey girls," Davis called out as we neared, his usual bright smile greeting us.

My heart dropped. All I could manage was a tight lipped smile, feeling like the world's biggest fool. The memory of our ridiculous plan to use him to make Hyden jealous played over in my mind, now made worse by the fact that I knew he was gay. Tash, as always, was completely unfazed, smiling at Davis like we hadn't just humiliated ourselves with our failed scheme.

"Hey, Davis," I finally managed, my voice barely audible. Inside, I wanted to disappear, but I had to face the consequences of our childish plot.

Hyden's eyes locked onto mine the moment we sat across them and I noticed the wicked smile spreading across his lips. He didn't even bother hiding it, clearly amused by the fact I was wearing a light summer dress with a high neckline, an obvious attempt to cover the marks he had left behind. My cheeks were already betraying me, heating up under his gaze, and I knew it was obvious.

"Sorry I couldn't even see you guys off last night. Are you okay now?" Davis asked, his gaze landing on me with genuine concern. I nodded quickly, keeping it short with a stiff nod. The last thing I wanted was to dive into the events of last night but Hyden, of course, didn't miss a beat, his grin widened as he watched the pink creep into my face. Great, just what I needed. I could practically feel his amusement radiating across the room.

"What'd we miss?" Tash asked casually, grabbing a piece of apple from the plate.

I could see Kevin's eyes were already on her, though she made a point to ignore him completely. "We were talking about something adventurous," Kevin replied, his smirk widening. "Something that definitely wouldn't be your piece of cake."

Tash shot him a sharp glare, clearly not in the mood for his teasing. "Oh please, I'm probably braver than you'll ever be." Kevin raised an eyebrow, the challenge clearly amusing him.             "Is that so? Care to prove it?"

Tash narrowed her eyes at Kevin, not one to back down. "I don't need to prove anything to you. We both know I've got more guts than you." she said, her voice dripping with confidence. Kevin leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, a playful grin on his face. "Big talk for someone who freaks out over a spider."

Tash's face turned a furious shade of red, her usual quick wit utterly failing her as Kevin's words hit like a direct punch. She was clearly caught off guard, speechless.

Kevin's smirk deepened, relishing in the moment of her vulnerability. His eyes glinted, and I knew exactly where he was going with this. "Well, it seems like everyone curious about what happened this morning..." Kevin began, his smirk growing as he leaned in, teasing Tash mercilessly but before he could get another syllable out, Tash, quicker than I'd ever seen her move, snatched a piece of cake from the plate and shoved it straight into his mouth, effectively silencing him. Kevin's eyes went wide with shock, crumbs scattering around as he struggled to chew, his smirk replaced with utter disbelief.
